I thought that somewhere in one of those articles there was something about the gun critical accessory being less effective if the character has their own high crit modifiers… could be wrong tho, there was a lot of stuff there when you include all the comments!
Just took the first step… looked at my matching parts purple Doc’s Coach Gun and my matching parts purple Rustler’s Coach Gun… and chucked the Rustler’s to make some space!

That’s true, but it’s comparatively to alternative bonuses.
If you already have 500℅ crit bonus, an extra 20% isn’t a big improvement, while even a 10% gun damage bonus would be better ( because it’s functionality multiplied by the 500%) . However, in the case of shotguns, the bonus is 50% (which is quite big) and there really is no “damage” accessory like most other gun types, so the point is moot.
Pardon me for asking and not checking in game, but as Zer0’s Decepti0n critical bonus is broken, do you know how much max critical bonus does he have for guns other than snipers?
Let’s assume you mean without any CA stacks and without the lady fist or the Grog nozzle (otherwise I can’t really provide a good answer)
Hum… I think with a Killer COM (50%), 10/5 Killer (100%), 10/5 Headshot (40%), 10/5 velocity (30%) and 5/5 Kill confirmed (40%) and an unforgiven (75% + 25% type B multiplicative)
(1 + 3.35) X (1 + 0.25) = 543.75% crit bonus (wow, my rough figure was particularly accurate
)
…and I limited myself to non-snipers without CA
There might be a few ways to pile up more than that, I wasn’t very thorough here as it’s just an example
So I think you understand why I’m not especially concerned by Zero’s deception bonus not applying correctly
Thanks. I was simply curious. I’m also not concerned of the skill being broken, just kinda cringe about how they don’t at least remove the description.
Though I wouldn’t count the Unforgiven.

It gets only slightly less high with other guns:
With a Doc’s striker you get 529%
With a Gwen’s head 495%
With a simple Jakobs Iron 450%
With the Bekah 471%
Good/bad touch 430%
The Crit 510%
The Hail 448%
Those bonuses aren’t exclusive to Zer0 as items can be equipped by other characters as well.
He does have an advantage with multiplicative crit bonus though. I meant to ask of his own skills. But thanks anyway, I already knew that.
Well, with a weapon that doesn’t affect crit bonuses at all, he gets 360%, if that’s what you are asking
Edit: ok, I get it now, I thought you meant that you wouldn’t count the Unforgiven as in “that specific gun shouldn’t count, like the lady fist” rather than “Give me the number without any gun”

I felt the need to double-check the math… and spotted a difference in class mod card bonuses between the number Chuck used and the number the class mod guide lists. My Zero hasn’t seen UVHM yet, so I haven’t picked up such a max-stats class mod myself, but I’d assume the guide is correct, otherwise someone would have commented in its thread by now.
At OP8 the Legendary Killer supposedly has 57% crit damage, even at 72 it has 53%, not just the 50% Chuck used, so the numbers should go up a little bit. The Unforgiven jumps to 552.5% crit multiplier. Math: 0.57 1.00 + 0.40 + 0.30 + 0.40 + 0.75 + 1 + 0.25 1 + *
A Citrine Iron (which Chuck omitted), assuming the 6% Type A from his crit bonus guide is correct (there is a warning about lack of thorough gemstone testing after all) has 466.25%. Math: 0.57 1.00 + 0.40 + 0.30 + 0.40 + 0.06 + 1 + 0.25 1 + *
There is the crit Fibber too, but with its 700% the crit multiplier is off the charts anyway, just like the Lady Fist and Grog Nozzle.
Without a gun the multiplier is just 367%. Math: 0.57 1.00 + 0.40 + 0.30 + 0.40 + 1 +
While it’s not as good as the Legendary Killer, I’d like to mention that the Legendary Sniper has a decent bonus too. Its card bonus is supposedly only 51% crit damage at OP8 or 48% at 72 (despite the card it affects all weapons - it’s bugged in the opposite way of Deception), and you trade the Killer boost for a Kill C0nfirmed boost, reducing your crit damage by another 10%. Though depending on playstyle and situation you may find yourself having just one skill or the other active, so having that alternative class mod to swap to can be nice.
Note: I’m a HP calculator user, so I do the math in Reverse Polish Notation. Should be readable too, otherwise just punch it into any real or emulated HP calc. In my opinion RPN is awesome because it isn’t ambiguous, doesn’t care about operator priorities and doesn’t need parentheses.

Yeah, I know someone would come in with the exact numbers.
I posted my equation with rounded numbers by heart, without looking at any sources (since I think @diator1730 was more interested in a “ballpark” value than a truly exact result)
I remember the Leg. Killer had About 50% crit bonus
so I went with that figure.
Bear in mind though that these are the MAXIMUM numbers possible for each level… it is entirely possible to find an OP8 Leg. Killer COM with 50% crit bonus and a lvl 72 with a crit bonus of 46%, so my figure of 50% wasn’t entirely false either
I purposefully didn’t include the Crit fibber, for the same reason I discounted the Lady fist and Grog Nozzle.
And I completely forgot about the gemstone bonus, good catch.
Yes, I started with that when I begin typing my answer, but I realized that the Killer COM had Killer (the skill) while the Sniper had Kill confirmed. Since we’re going for “highest number” scenario here, and Killer has a bigger bonus than Kill confirmed, I went with the former.

All good, I just had enough time to find the exact numbers and look for an alternative class mod that has a similar multiplier. I also really wanted to mention its bug because without that it wouldn’t be as good since diator1730 specifically excluded snipers. And yes, I know a class mod doesn’t always have max stats.
Also: Woohoo, my post got a like from a Community Badass within a few minutes!

I can die happy.
Seriously… reading this brought me entirely too much joy!
Also, it looks like a log in on the PC is in order…
I would really like there to be a working link in this thread for the dangerous method stuff, and from the looks of it it’s a total rebuild…
This thread hasn’t been touched in a long time, and I think @DarthSpiderDen has left the building a long time ago too.
So I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
Though the Zero community guide is still up for business, which is an even more appropriate place IMO
Oh…

I guess I should poke around a bit more before jumping to conclusions about what’s what.

I’ll update the Community Guide if anybody wants to take this over. I can also add the dangerous method if someone were to provide me a link.

No Fastball?
I’m going to submit two videos to make a case for it being one of Zero’s best weapons. Simply put, it allows a gun Zero to pull off multiple kills from a single Deception, or to substantially weaken powerful enemies before the Deception breaking shot.
This short clip shows multiples out of Deception, as well as using it to break down one of the orc warlords to get an easy kill:
and, of course, here is @bewd85 doing it better than I could:
