Tactics and strategems

okay, this topic is on tactics. like little things you do when playing as a character when playing with people(the tactics I used today were more for helping an inexperienced player stay alive and get more assists so he could level up)

first thing I did was there was a pendles on the enemy team who was trying to be an assassin, he was focusing the people at low health(which he was doing decently at)well…he was cleaning up an inexperienced player that joined the party I was in. after a while I simply started telling him(the inexperienced team mate) whether to advance retreat for a few, he started holding his own, still dying but doing better…when It reached a momentary stalemate and he was on low health I threw down a scrap trap and told him to stand on it and teleport to be bait(I actually told him as he was teleporting “i’m using you as bait” pendles showed up and then ran into my trap and stunned himself to death…

in another game I had a friend playing toby, so I put FOUR traps under her and when an enemy montana showed up to lumberjack dash her it ended up backfiring because toby simply crit’d him to melt him the rest of the way…

in one game I simply set up a scrap trap inside of a kleese energy rift and hooked enemies into it…it was messed up but it was actually effective

well those were my gem moments recently, are there any setups or tactics that you use?

…With the next update, after friendly collisions is removed, there will lots of these traps and surprises.
(Toby defending in a opening, Ben attacks, but surprise Oriendi is with Toby)

I’m eager for them as well! traps are the fun way to play!

This thread is for Competitive section.

Duly noted thanks for pointing that out

I support Thorn, Marquis, Orendi, and Kid Ultra inside one Montana

The Devs said there will be Push, like TF2.
However, we should be able to have a Miko Montana twist that walks with a death note.
Even if Miko is pushed out of Montana Miko should be able to continuously walk back in and across him.

When I played with random groups, especially when everyone was off-mic, I used to dictate the ebb and flow of battle by pushing forward when I wanted the team to go and retreating when necessary, in order to encourage them to follow me I’d leave them a trail of Sunspots as incentive. Generally I found that people off-mic wont respond to mic commands and people on-mic will often just yell and complain at the others not doing what they want or dying or whatever other problem of the day. If you show that you’re capable and competent they will follow you into battle, I think perhaps that people don’t like being told what to do but if you lead by example they’ll follow, actions speak louder than words

Ah okay, that’s much better

Hiding round a corner with atticus and having an ally lead someone to you is fun.

When I’m Montana my friend Miko is really good at stunqa ui I’mning them after I do making for easy kills.

I have adopted the Wimplo style of fighting.

Motto: I’m bleeding, therefore I win!

Wimp Lo: Ha! Face to foot style, how do you like it?
Chosen One: I’m sure on some planet your style is impressive, but your weak link is: this is Earth.
Wimp Lo: Oh yeah? Then try my nuts to your fist style!

Victory in defeat!!!

My favorite strategy is playing a overly defensive galilea and takeing the healing helix on descrate instead of the silence cause no one realizes it until they face it themselves but when she has her beam attack it can utterly melt people at close range so I try to stay at full health as much as possible (plus antihero and a attack speed gear makes her into a helicopter)

I play mostly Ernest recently. And there are some nice helix synnergies when one thinks not only about himself when picking, like Helix 1:

  • when matched against some melees Left one (knockback charge) helps a lot to shake them off a CC’d/running away/pendlesed teammates. Also nice way to push some dogdy BBs into my team’s rank, push off healer from his Gals, ruin someones(ti Rath ;)) Ult etc. And finally, rarely but possible, push some BB into crevasses - lot of fun :smiling_imp:) ) I wish I could fully understand the mechanics behind knockback, and maybe be able to push my buddies of AoEs too, though.
  • the Right one (+30% Attacks speed buff) is a blessing for a ranged team. Self-explanatory.

Other strategies here are obvious: minefield the attacking team’s retreat (minions don’t retreat), focus nade barage on buildables (all of them including barriers and scraptraps) and tanks first, greande rain minions at max distance etc.

I recommend finding a “spotter” who can tell you how to adjust your aim for really long shots

I meant knockback mechanics, I’m pretty down into geometry (ti I think so)
But I can’t stop but wonder how it sometimes works: first time I’d check Concussive Charge it was Chaos Rumble against 4x Oscar Mike team, on Monuments where I’d spam charge near 1st Sentry bot …and it was raining Mikes
Othertimes Ghalt/ISIC/Ambra get’s barely knocked, while Thrall mercs not even a bit. Weird stuff.

The ghalt and isic might be because there’s a weight value, but I’ve noticed there’s sweet spots to get launches from on a lot of people
