Even though I haven’t played BB for well over a month now, it deeply saddens me that it’s been put down by biased reviews and bad marketing. It really could’ve been more, if they would just give BB a chance. I truly hope this game makes some sort of comeback or return, I genuinely do. The amazing story multiplayer and characters truly had me enticed for months on end, I will definitely return to play the game if it’s still alive. I love this game and it’s forum and I’m definitely a satisfied customer no matter what.

They should not have implemented always online as the primary function of this game to begin with. In order to swap the foundation of this game the costs would be, well, to keep it boring, extensive.
It may be so high that it may not be worth the cost -given that in the scenario you presented they are pulling the plug.
Double Connectivity is the double edge sword that pretty much screwed this game’s momentum, as I’ve stated before, and the wound seems to be increasing in self-inflicting damage everyday.
I wonder when the bleeding can stop.
I’m tired of cleaning up the mess off my shirts.

I’m well aware of the costs, and i know that it’s probably not even in the realm of possibilities, but i can hope.
Andy Dufresne says that hope is a good thing, maybe the best thing. Something that can never be taken from you, even when everything else is. I hope that Gearbox will make Battleborn’s story and ops playable offline. I hope that i’ll be able to enjoy Toby, Orendi, ISIC, and all the rest of those delightful characters decades in the future, without relying on Internet. I hope the ocean is as blue as it is in my dreams. I hope.

They don’t put millions on a game, they put millions on a product.
When you’ll get the difference in the nomenclature, you’ll get one of the problem with them.
First:
You realize that games like… Warframe, The Witcher and Overwatch are self-published, right?
If you think self-publish make no money, you are wrong.
Second:
There is more Self-published games than Publisher-backed ones.
That’s were your thinking is wrong: Publishers don’t take risk. Or rarely. Because they have investors to please.
Why do you think EA do a Battlefield every year (Or so)? Because it’s a safe brand, the name itself will make the game sell. Press a bit of marketing here and there, so peoples know “Generic Shooter 7” is coming, and it’s all good.
Same for Call of Duty, NBA2kX, etc…
Once in a while they do take a risk, if they consider it a failure, it’s in the bin. And sometime the Developer with it.
Publishers are not the one making game better or more progressive. They don’t press forward the video game industry. They are the one making it stall, stagnate. They shouldn’t be praised by the players, because they literally slow the apparition of new games.
Innovation come from risk, Publishers don’t take risk.

All I have to say is that, we are the voice where there is none. We are the community. We are the Battleborn.
Just seeing how passionate some of you are about this game almost brought a tear to my eyes.
I am deeply saddened by this entire situation because like all of you, I love absolutely love Battleborn. I do not want to see this game crash, burn, and be forgotten. There are no words to describe how many great emotions that I have for this game. I don’t always agree with how this game is “balanced”. cough cough Mellka nerfs Benedict buff Ahem sorry about that, but this game continues to please me and make me happy on a daily basis. I’ve have met some of the best damn people in my life through this game. You lot know who you are
I refuse to read the article because those people are on the outside, they don’t see what we see, they don’t experience what we experience. By what you guys are typing, it seems like Take-two would rather just give up saying, ‘we made all the money that we could, time to scrap this project as well’. I do not like that sh*t at all. I also do not accept when people do not take responsibility for their own actions and place the blame elsewhere.
This is frustrating to the point where it makes you feel like you want to call it quits; but you can’t do that. If I do or any of you, then we proved to all of the outsiders that they were right all along.
I don’t know about all of the Battleborn community, but I refuse to hit that surrender button. Any time that bs comes up in my mind, I stop, take a breath, press pause, and vote against it. I Will Not Surrender. I will continue to grow as long as this game lives.

Okay so too lazy to look into whatever y’all are talking about. I played Evolve for Xbox as well and enjoyed it very much until they let it rot while they let PC Evolve players flourish. I know they were testing it out and what not I’m over it now, Evolve is dead blah blah blah. ANYWAYS MY QUESTION IS, y’all are also talking about Battleborn dying now? Is it true? Is the same thing that happened to Evolve gonna happen with Battleborn expect without the stage 2 thing lol? If so I’m gonna get pissed. I agree with a lot of you saying it wasn’t advertised enough. Nobody I talk to has ever heard of this game, and I’m just like

Don’t get me wrong, I hate publishers too. But they’re a necessary evil.
Honestly I think I heard about BB for a couple minutes in 2013 or 2014 E3, went off cool, it’ll be like competitive borderlands, and forgot about it until I say a trailer the September or so before launch, forgot about it again, played the beta and fell in love with it. Meanwhile, blizzard had Overwatch playable at 2014 e3 and closed beta, followed by open beta, with, from what I’ve just gleamed off a quick search, 50% of game advertising slots for a couple months. Complete with animated trailers, comics, life size statues of characters, Battleborn didn’t have a chance against all that, out right competing. Blizzard saturated the market with OW for a long time, and people also did it for them. I am greatly saddened by the fact BB got blown out water, 2K did a disservice. We could have had a much stronger player base had there been more advertising and maybe a delayed releas(1-3 months.) Hope I didn’t get too many facts wrong here as I’m goin off the top of my head, but anyway,
TLDR; BB was under marketed against a behemoth company that could have released pong 2.0 and it would have had thousands of players.

The saddest thing is that the narrative of Battleborn was always about the underdogs. The odds are stacked against these characters but you’re still able to pull victories out of seemingly nowhere and keep fighting. When your own publisher throws your team under the bus for damage control it really screws with that message.
It really is both a blessing and a curse that companies like Blizzard and Valve have so much clout, they are companies created from hard work and exceptionally polished games but thanks to World of Warcraft and Steam there is simply no way to compete with them. I am a Valve fanboy technically but I’ve been waiting for new games from them for a long time. DotA and CS:GO aren’t really my cup of tea and my Team Fortress 2 gameplay activity has pretty much died. I’d like to see a new Half Life game, even Left 4 Dead or Portal follow-ups would be nice but it makes me sad when all I hear from Valve activity these days is tinkering around with VR mini-games. The two companies seem to be able to fund themselves seemingly forever. I just wish more developers could benefit from a share of the huge funding and loyal playerbase that Valve and Blizzard have.
I also get the feeling that elements in the gaming media wanted to see Gearbox fail. Aliens: Colonial marines was a controversial failure, granted and the nature of that failure incensed a lot of people (I get the impression that trailer builds for that game were cobbled together to meet deadlines which is why it differed from the finished product. I’ve heard this is a sad thing that can happen during game development). In addition to that, Gearbox took a big risk to try to rescue Duke Nukem Forever and get the game finished. Personally If that game cured world hunger on the day it was released it still wouldn’t live up to the hype for some. A lot of critics claimed the game was a mediocre letdown rather than outright terrible.
This seemed to create a situation where I think people wanted Battleborn to struggle from the outset. Time and time again I heard people referring to Battleborn’s characters and writing as “trademark Gearbox humour” or just saying the game was styled so similar to Borderlands. It felt like the previews weren’t trying that hard to look for Battleborn’s identity. The game was always more colourful than Borderlands and had a more cartoony feel but the press just seemed just shrug and mutter “lol Borderlands”. It felt like lazy coverage. I’m not saying it was the gaming media that was to blame for Battleborn’s current state but I do believe it was a contributing factor.

From Take Two’s perspective it is financially disappointing. You can make a wonderful game with everything working right but if people are not interested in your creation and prefer other games then that also is disappointing. To Australians trying to get on for a game it has been frustratingly disappointing. To me it is disappointing that this was a priority over Borderlands 3. I also find the artwork disappointing, it was the first thing that put me off the game. The people who came on board right from the start left so quickly, that’s kinda disappointing don’t you think? I mean if even the die hard fans faded away so quickly then how can you expect others not to be disappointed. I was disappointed to hear Randy P state that he did not even know if people whould like this game they were making. In fact I think there is a hidden early indicator in that comment alone that they were not sure if the game was going to do well. So the game has so many ways to disappoint and really it kinda did so in almost all possible ways.
Given the publisher has publicly and harshly expressed disappointment it is a very safe be that this will be the one and only Battleborn game.
The fact that so many early adopters who paid for Battleborn and left very early shows the game would not have survived even with a huge advertising campaign. If you can’t keep the numbers up with the hardcore players then how can you expect advertising to help keep people playing.
