So I got this beer board thing with spots for you to put bottle caps for Christmas and I figured I’d post my progress on filling it up here. I’m no beer expert so I’m not going to be giving any analysis of the beers. Just probably an “I liked it, 8/10” or “Too much water, 7.8/10”.
Anyways, here’s the current board (8/74 spots filled):

I’m planning on adding one per day at least. Here’s the beers on the board so far:
I’m going to try to put the caps near where the brewery is geographically, but Texas is going to get filled up pretty fast with St. Arnold’s, Karbach, and Shiner.
St. Arnold (Houston, Texas) - Elissa IPA
Deschutes (Bend, Oregon) - Obsidian Stout
Revolver Brewing (Granbury, Texas) - Ironhead IPA
Shiner (Shiner, Texas) - 107th Birthday Beer
Odell Brewing (Fort Collins, Colorado) - 90 Shilling Ale
Shiner (Shiner, Texas) - Ruby Redbird
George Killian’s (Enniscorthy, Ireland) - Irish Red
Shiner (Shiner, Texas) - Shiner Premium
Current board (8/74):
Love me some killians.
For MN, I suggest summit (my beer of choice since it’s locally avaliable) or if you want to go with the MN domestically brewed college staple bear: Premium grainbelt/Nordeast.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am going to try to get at least 1 beer from each state. We will see how that goes…
HEB (Texas grocery store) has this build your own 6 pack thing where you can just pick 6 beers a-la-carte instead of having to buy a 6 pack for each beer, which is going to be my preferred method of filling out this board. Their selection is pretty limited though so I will probably have to buy 6 packs for smaller state’s beer.

Love this thread idea! I’ll drink any beer as long as it’s not a horrid IPA…

It’s been a while but I’m back with an update. I keep meaning to update these as I drink them, but I usually get sidetracked…
Anyways, here we go. I’ve decided to hold off on putting the caps on the board for now because I want to make sure I don’t fill up the entire board with Shiner. Might just decide to not put all the Shiner caps in.
Shiner (Shiner, Texas) - Brewer’s Pride
Shiner (Shiner, Texas) - Kosmos Reserve
Shiner (Shiner, Texas) - Bock
Shiner (Shiner, Texas) - Black Lager
Real Ale Brewing Co. (Blanco, Texas) - Devil’s Backbone
Alaskan (Juneau, Alaska) - Winter Ale
Lagunitas Brewing Company (Chicago, Illinois) - India Pale Ale
Sierra Nevada (Chico, California) - Pale Ale
Samuel Adams (Boston, Massachusetts) - Boston Lager
Mission Brewery (San Diego, California) - Hard Root Beer

Nice update. I’ve had the Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, and Shiner’s Bock. Loved the bock, liked the Sam Adams, and I’m not really a fan of anything from Sierra Nevada. Just not a pale ale or IPA kind of guy, I guess. Pretty much everything Sam Adams puts out is good. How was the Alaskan Winter? I’ve seen some reviews on it before.

Honestly I think the winter was my favorite so far. Gonna have to try more of their stuff.
Either Shiner or St. Arnold’s is my Texas brewery of choice.

Been drunk for nearly two weeks straight and thought about this thread. You still updating it? I had a few Shiners the other night, too!

Ever since my birthday on June 5th, yep. Might as well have some fun when you’re dealin’ with crap.

I have been on more of a Liquor kick the last few months, but I did just visit Alaska and had some nice beers. So I think I am going to pick this project back up.
Hope everything starts to look up for you man.

Thanks and keep us updated. I stick to beer most of the time, but I won’t deny that I love Jim, Jack, Jager, Maker’s Mark, and Fireball.

If you can find it, (good luck, they sell out FAST) try Parish Ghost in the Machine. Well worth the trip to bourbon street. I would equate finding it to getting your hands on a pint of Pliny the Younger.

Hey, Cheat, if you’re still in Texas you should keep your eyes open for these:
My grandpa just brought some back and they’re pretty damn good. Better than the Michelob bocks and comparable to Shiner’s.

Ziegenbock is great. I have a buddy that keeps a keg of it on tap almost all of the time. I like going to his house.

Never had that one. Stoker, bring me one. I’m about 30 minutes into Louisiana.

Kentucky ain’t close to LA, buddy! Haha I’m far, far away in Nevada right now anyway. My grandpa picked those up at the NM/TX border and I don’t think they sell 'em anywhere else.
@Dacheat You are a lucky man. Should hang out with me some time and we’ll have that board finished in a month! I think I’ve been in 20 different states by now already.
