The "Best" Explosive Shotgun

I’m a Ravager guy. Specifically, non-scoped Casual Ravager. Still waiting for the game to give me a purple one, but I’ve had two identical blues drop. I keep one in Maya’s inventory for mobbing fun.

I would like a Torgue sight on my Ravager but the game decided not to give me one

I gotta say I was expecting more love for the Carnage than I’m seeing

I just never had one. I don’t know what is it like to go to second base with the Carnage. I wonder if it would treat me well… Not like the SWORDSPLOSION!!! that downs me after I just killed the last thing to second wind of…!!

well, me.

The problem with the carnage, is that its pretty good on Axton and Krieg, but pretty mediocre on everyone else

Let’s put it this way.

Every OP8 character I have carries Three out of 4 of those. It’s mandatory. I don’t care for the FLakker myself, but then I’ve never mastered that gun nor the Hail.

The other three are solid shotguns for the right situation. LOVE the Casual Swordsplosion now that I don’t hate it. ( which I did, at first )

“Best” shotgun is the same argument for any “Best” list. Subjective. Depends on the user AND the use and whether you are aiming for traditional, experimentel, etc. etc. etc.
What’s the best guitar to play death metal? Which one for the blues? All depends on a lot of things and the tone you’re going for. Same with weapons.

Everyone who has answered thus far is incorrect.

It’s OBVIOUSLY the Landscaper.

I’ll have to get me one of those and give it a try

And what’s the best variant of the Landscaper?

That’s correct! The Bearcat!

There is no one “Best” Explosive shotgun, since different Explosive shotguns work better / worse with different characters / builds. As Maya, I use an OP8 Casual SWORDSPLOSION (Explosive), keeping a safe distance from any target so as not to take damage from the child swords.

I’ve been using Derch’s Twisted Pimp (Siren) build and intended on trying for his recommended Twister, but after giving her a Swordsplosion, that plan may not happen after all. It definitely has a learning curve, and I’ll bet it can take out co-op partners as easily as bandits, but being able to run the Peak successfully with just a Pimp and Swordsplosion has pretty much sold me on this gun for her.

Oh my god! You’re severely right!! How did I even forget about that one. That’s gotta be the most awesome shotgun in Borderlands, explosive or not!!

ravager or swordsplosion, depending on how far I am away from my target. and call me crazy, but I prefer a critical prefix on my ravager.

If using Krieg, both Swordsplosion and Carnage are great, as far as I remember the damage to self from Swordsplosion’s grenades is far less than what people report it to be, I suppose it’s only risky if you intend to use it inside somewhere so cramped as an air duct in order to get hit by all three grenades but that’s far from any legit usage. About the Carnage, if I recall correctly it does slightly less damage than the Swordsplosion but it also uses one ammo per shot and it’s a guaranteed Bloodbath proc on kill.

Flakker is a good weapon but too much niche with it’s dice-rolling damage model.
