If someone can’t get their point across politely, it’s probably not a very good point to make, is it? Having said that, I’ve read the mystery post and it really wouldn’t result in a ban.
Reminding people to stay polite shouldn’t be seen as censorship. Just advice to encourage positive discussion.

Ive mentioned this before, but whos to say the movie will take place during BL2 (and shortly before it)
Because this is when Mordecai started drinking (shortly before BL2) and ended drinking (shortly after BL2)
So unless this movie follows the BL2 events, I dont think Mordecai will be the drunk as he quickly became known for following BL2s release.
He wssnt created in BL1 with the intention of being the drunk. The BL2 writer made him that way years later. Then reversed it in a later DLC.
Besides, whos to say these characters will even be in the movie? Personally, i hope it follows new characters.
I may be grasping at nothing here though. I just hope that if he is in the movie, they dont pin him with that alcoholic persona BL2 gave him.
I, for one, hope it’s not going to be like “Fury Road”.
Because, while it was somehow entertaining, it was also everything but a “Mad Max” movie.
This entire thread, and even the instances where you said; “If he wants to call me an idiot, let him.” Seem to be a rather obvious attempt at a little bit of confrontation. Even more evident by Psych and Kitty having to wrangle this in in the most polite manner they possibly could’ve.
I know that you’re trying to be particularly tongue in cheek and incendiary, but it is coming off a bit like some one who saw a Yahtzee Croshaw video for the first time and decided that they too have mastered the art of fast paced and witty critique and are just now deciding to prove it.
I’d just like to say that you’re judging a comedy as you would a drama. You’re judging what is done for the sake of entertainment in a game, and expanding it to some form of canon.
You know that A Midsummer Night’s Dream is valued differently than Hamlet in regards to character development, yes? Have you played Tales and actually seen the level of variation, depth, and even character differentiation that is present in the good fictional skeletal structure that Borderlands is?
Your considerations are in no way something that a highly trained technical and writing staff (such as those running the BL franchise) have not seen coming from a mile away. I’d wager they considered it far before you decided that the best way to express your frustration with things that probably won’t happen is to ‘flesh them out’ in a profanity riddled piece.

I can understand where you are coming from. Games being transformed into movies has a past history of not ending well. Can’t think of any off the top of my head; probably because they were all easily forgettable. For it to succeed, or to at least not destroy the franchise, it would have to take place in the borderlands universe and stay away from the games and its characters. Probably should stay away from Pandora’s story all together.
It has close to 0% chance of doing that.
Mario 64 (loved by some to the point of obsession) came after the Mario film.
Second Silent Hill film was meant to “ruin the franchise” and many people seriously considered rioting when the next SH game was cancelled (for obviously different reasons).
I could name so many instances of that.
I honestly think this movie has a much bigger chance of sucking than of being any good. It’s just an incredibly difficult property to adapt and I’m still not sure what was the studio reasoning behind the decision to try and make it now. Still, I remain cautiously optimistic about it, cause I can see the potential here for a really cool film. Honestly, I’m not even entirely sure the movie is actually going to happen. Just look at all of the video game movies that were announced as in development, stayed that way for years and still haven’t seen the light of day, like the Bioshock movie. I’ll believe it only when I see the first set picture.
That said, I disagree completely with everything else the OP keeps ranting on about, particularly his opinion on the characters and the story. It’s also worth noting that it seems he actually signed up to the forums just to start this ridiculously confrontational thread and post that massive wall of dismissive text. That’s very weird (not to say suspiciously trollish) for someone who really seems to HATE Borderlands and Gearbox with a passion.
I’m optimistic about what can be done, but in fairness, that is a very reasonable approach.
I hold to the fact that it may be better as a series.
I could split it in to two factors;
If the writing/creative team behind BL has a lot of input in this, they’ll manage to tie together the strands. I have full faith in them, and they’ve not really let me down in any significant way yet.
If the rights are bought out FLAT OUT by Lionsgate and they refuse to share the helm, prepare for one of the most Copy-Paste action film experiences of your life.
To the people who think I hate Borderlands, can I really blame you? To clarify, I don’t hate Borderlands, I love it, I wouldn’t have spent over 1500 hours on the second game if that wasn’t the case. Hating a series and being able to point it’s bad points out are two completely different things.
And to everyone who’s accusing me of being confrontational, you don’t have to reply you know. You don’t have to stand up for Gearbox, they’re big boys and can look after themselves. What’s wrong with being a little confrontational? It makes people think and it’s not hurting anyone. Who is standing up for Gearbox? This is a theme, anyone who disagrees with badmouthing of an aspect of Borderlands is “standing up for Gearbox”. Why would I care what you say about them? I have no idea what is going on in there. For all I know they eat puppies for dinner. What I do know, is the writing in BL just fine.
I am nearing amusement that you at any point and time thought anything you’d written was coming off as thought provoking. It wasn’t. It was a sequence of opinions. With very little substance. If you told us you liked the color blue, and I prefer the color red, I wouldn’t call you discrepancy “thought provoking”.
I think you may very well have tried to be controversial, but I assure you, you weren’t.
“There are people who do not like the writing of the Borderlands series” is not a matter of controversy, it is more so a matter of fact.
Not everyone agrees with you on the “bad points” you pointed out and a lot of us disagree with your assumption that the movie can’t be good because of the game’s shortcomings, as the movie can actually improve on a lot of them precisely because it’s a different medium that focuses on different things. You stated opinions, not facts. You’re more than entitled to have your opinions, but you were dismissive of everyone else’s and also very dismissive of the game itself.
The key word here is “tact”. You weren’t being a little confrontational, you were being incredibly confrontational. Are you truly saying you weren’t expecting the replies you got? Confrontation only leads to more confrontation, not reasonable arguments. Specially on the internet. A thread like this certainly wasn’t the best introduction you could have made for yourself on these forums and getting all defensive after people called you out on it sure isn’t helping your case.
Movie will be great because…Borderlands
I think it would be awesome to run a story parallel to one of the games with limited interaction with known characters. Maybe we see Scooter, Moxxi, or Marcus. How cool would it be to get a whole new group of vault hunters on Pandora and then see them brought into Borderlands 3 later on.
I would kind of like to see the VH’s on screen. As gleefully ignorant as that may sound of me.

I’m sorry, “tact?” we’re talking about video games here, not somebody’s great aunt Gemima. If you feel that someone needs to have tact while talking about Borderlands (One of the least tactful series in history) then you might be getting just a little too involved.
I admit it, making crude jokes can be pretty controversial, but Borderlands gets what it gives.

In a minor defense of @chucklin4207, I don’t believe he is a troll at all. That would be a harsh judgement of his. I think he spent a lot of time typing out a position which he should’ve spent more time considering. He tried his hardest to make it edgy or “controversial”, but more so just managed to make it pushy and misguided. At this point he’s just defending a bit of spotty writing, and I’m sure we can all sympathize with that.
Although I would compel him to stop.
Well it looks like Kanye finally decided to show up and school the rest of us with his “genius”. It is safe to say GBX will be scrapping Borderlands altogether.
