The Christmas Thread

Going to take advantage of the holiday by putting the two packets of intriguingly black hair dye I bought today to use, with my mum’s help. I’m absolutely awful at dyeing my hair myself and haven’t done it for years anyway, so an extra pair of hands (and a bath tub) will come in useful!

Drinks are still either vodka or coffee based.

Rituals: My family does everything on on christmas eve. We usually start between 4-6, go around and open up one present at a time. Mom always forces a game on us with rules that I’m convinces she makes up on the fly that may or may not result in gifts. Afterwards a Rook game usually breaks out and then we shoot fireworks.

Christmas Day is fun because as stated, we’ve always done everything on christmas eve. I have a longstanding tradition with a friend who’s family was never around on christmas to go to the movies and camp out for at least one (usually 2-3) and eat at a huddle house.

Pro tip, if you’re eating out on christmas and you aren’t tipping 100%, you’re doing it wrong.

My family informed me yesterday they’ve bought a thousand piece jigsaw of the London Underground Map for a Christmas activity.

I’m British. I don’t tip. Even at Christmas.

That’s an activity even your cat will enjoy participating in.

Yeah I generally live by this principle, unless they go out of their way to provide good service, then I shall reward said over achievement

Do you tip your hairdressers or nail bar (if you go to one), my misses always has a go at me for not tipping my hairdresser, but I just paid the price not sure why I would pay any more

I don’t use either (I neaten my hair myself from time to time and that’s enough beautification for me!) so don’t have to worry about the niceties of that situation.

If I have any spare change left over after paying a restaurant bill I usually do leave it, especially if I know I’ll be coming back again. That’s about as far as I go though. In America I’ve learnt to be a lot more generous! And I remember in Vienna some guy who took our coats off came after us to demand a tip!

That would actually meke me not want to tip, I dislike being forced/pressured in to anything.

“John McClane: [huddled in an air vent, recalls his wife’s invitation] Come out to the coast, we’ll get together, have a few laughs…”

It’s on my list to watch, maybe I’ll get hold of it over the holiday while I’m away from Borderlands

Top notch action flick
It may seem really trope-y on a first viewing all these years later but that’s because it’s the origin for many of the action movie tropes prevalent to this day

I agree. They show Die Hard here on TV every Christmas and I have been watching it since 2011.

Non-stop?
Sounds exhausting

Not really. I tend to forget most of the film’s plot within a year, so it’s like watching a new film every Christmas.

I’ll have a chance to see if I’ve forgotten something about Die Hard’s plot this Friday when they finally show it.

I meant your phrasing sounded like you had done nothing but watch die hard for 5 solid years

But your literal response took the wind out of my sails, coal in a stockin indeed
