The Flak over Fl4k and what it cost

I advocate for all free speech not intended to do harm.
It’s literally in our rights.
Free speech in its self isn’t hate speech.
Just because you personally disagree. You can choose how you and only you feels you can’t make any other decisions for any others.
Unless it’s being purposely and intentionally used to promote hate, just simply stating an opinion is not hate. Forcing someone to adhere to fantastical rules and belittling them in order to get your way with pushy and snarky comments is hateful though towards people who just simply don’t see things the same as you.

I just wanted to pint out that at least a year ago, folks in my state (California) could identify themselves as non-binary on their driver’s license.

Isn’t free speech free to an extent though. So many things you can’t say. It also has most likely changed in the many years since it was written.

Um you can’t speak for all people who feel alone. Lol
There’s no one in this world that when feels alone, esp against people who make them feel isolated they do not ever wish for a connection? To something? That’s when people feel like they’re going insane and feel like “ I’m the only one in the world” who feels this way and no one understands me so no one shall.
Or they’ve tried to connect socially but their social surroundings made them feel more alone because they can’t relate or “connect” with people. Isn’t that what people go online for?
Because in their real life the demographic around them is so much different than them that they need to find another place where they’re accepted by like minded individuals or people that might want to discuss and debate topics that most would shrug off or laugh at?
This is an opportunity to have open dialogue without resulting to insults because it can stay within logical standards.
Not the opportunity for the victim to become the bully because you got treated a certain way now it’s your turn for revenge on others who disagree.

After 2000 posts, I am not certain why people are bothering to write their own posts. The debate has become so cyclical at this point that the discussion could be had using only the quote text function and referring to previous posts.

California; a state that cares more about catering to pronouns and to illegal immigrants yet refuses to help the already 130,000 homeless people that live there.

We’re prioritizing BS issues over detrimental mass effect issues.

Ok, honest question to you and everybody else who keeps using that argument… What do you think real non-binary people sound like in real life?

Except that image you posted is very clearly stating that you are wrong in what actually pertains to this discussion. You were claiming that “master” is an exclusively male term and that Gearbox is gendering FL4K by using it, so you concluded they must not actually care all that much about it. But that definition you posted is stating that although originally there are two separate terms for male and female, that “the usage is up to you, in modern times, in English, it’s common to use the masculine form to denote both genders”. So you’re kinda defeating your own argument. Using “Beastmaster” when referring to FL4K isn’t gendering, plain and simple. As a matter of fact, this whole argument is irrelevant to begin with, because FL4K is actually neither male or female. Since their gender isn’t specified and there isn’t a true gender neutral version of the term, it’s actually correct to default to “master”.

“Relative Privation Fallacy”. Look it up.

Some would argue: loneliness
But someone told me if you’re lonely you don’t seek a connection or conversation. :woman_shrugging:t2:
So maybe sadomasochism?

When you work alone because your boss refuses to schedule you with a coworker for 8 hours a day 40 hours a week it can get a little lonely IMO.
But hey, who am I to have an opinion that isn’t the same as others?
What you wish to not be done to you, be disregarded, you do unto others.
Do you see how backlash gets created?
You demand to be heard and refuse to hear others outta fear it’ll hurt feelings or offend.
If you believe you can freely choose your gender -Bc that’s how you feel today- you can choose to not feel offended by things that are not inherently offensive.

Homelessness isn’t specific just for California. It’s an issue all over.

I mean, nobody knows what a Velociraptor sounds like yet we gave them a sound (not a nice sound). Like saying that because Athena has a relationship with Springs she should sound more gay? But it doesn’t matter since she is a badass assassin with a shield

Who are you talking to

Don’t think the department of housing and urban development would falsify statistical data given to them by each counties government. But I digress.

Yep, love those standards. Kindly start keeping them up, please.

OED and obviously Google state that “master” is commonly used for both genders so one should think that there might be some agreement, this happens:

There’s this talk of logic again. Maybe people should start using it instead of talking about it.

Especially after this:

one could recognize that the other one possibly has a point, but I guess I hope for too much logic here…

Again, could the possibility be considered that this ain’t the right thread for that?

Be kind, use logic and I hope you’re paid by the word.

We’re not talking about real people. We are talking about a collection of Ones and Zeros, (so they are ALL binary if you want to get technical)

Ones and Zeros, shaped into a collection of Pixels that make up a non sentient character in a game also made of Ones and Zeros.

So perhaps you can rephrase that question so it is relevant to this Character ?

Who even said that? What I’m saying is you’re blatantly resorting to a common argumentative fallacy, trying to invalidate an issue by bringing up another completely unrelated issue.

Like I said, look up “relative privation fallacy”.

What a shocker.

Anyone in existence that demands illogical obedience.

People make snap judgements because we’re trained to to identify people.
I work in an age restricted store and when people under 18 come, at first glance assessment needs to be made if you aren’t given the opportunity to see proof you have to make an assumption based off what you see to make sure if you’re right or wrong in the situation. Just because a kid is over a foot taller than me doesn’t mean that’s an adult that just means I’m short. If you have braces and a prepubescent face my guess is that you’re not 18 yet.
This is why people base what they see and hear to experience and what they know.
People that have a bit of a sense of humor to them and are fans of ProZD will relate this character to sungwon because they recognize the voice and know who’s speaking. It’s not wrong if it’s something you don’t chose to also do, then don’t.
No one is telling you to not call this character anything but male pronouns in response to this, they’re saying you can’t force a dialogue on people they don’t agree with just because feelings might get hurt if the see a word referencing men.

And I never dismissed anything I’m drawing comparisons with different scenarios.

And I quote you:

Nothing fantastical about asking everyone to adhere to house rules. Ever been to an amusement park? “Line cutters will be ejected from the park” sound familiar?

I’m not pushy, I’m pointing out that this is someone else’s house and you should wipe your feet before entering. It’s pretty simple. You can’t order a bacon cheeseburger at a kosher deli. House rules. Gearbox, no individual you are conversing with, asked you to follow their rules on their website. If you dont get that I’m sorry, but it’s a pretty cut and dry point you really can’t argue against. They are not telling you what to do elsewhere, just requesting you do something specific here. It’s not as complex as everything that’s been said upthread. As for snarky, I’m really not trying to be. Mayhap I’m not the sensitive one here?

Which is fine, so long as everyone follows the rules of the homeowner. A lot of people don’t see things the same as me. Doesn’t make them or me wrong. Just means there is the possibility of a stimulating discussion.

Let’s not attack California. There’s no reason, and the problems you reference are not unique to that state. I’d maintain that this is only a BS issue if you’ve not been on the unpleasant end of it for the entirety of your life.

Please, listen to the cat even if you won’t listen to me.

Also, @monsterrblood. You can reply to more than one individual in a post. You could post one long post rather than double, triple, and quadruple posting.

In regards to what that person said about California…

You’re taking it out of context.

*sigh *

Here you go:

Fallacy of relative privation (also known as “appeal to worse problems” or “not as bad as”) – dismissing an argument or complaint due to the existence of more important problems in the world, regardless of whether those problems bear relevance to the initial argument. “First World problems” are a subset of this fallacy.

I think we’ve well and truly went off topic now.
