I just want to express my appreciation for what is one of the most difficult things I have ever attempted in a video game, if not the most difficult.

The Heliophage is essentially a raid, I attempted it on advanced twice (First time with 5 players, second time with 4) and it is ludicrously hard. The first time we went for the left crystal first and we were overwhelmed by Thrall Beast Masters but we got through it, only to not have enough time to complete the second crystal. The second time we went right first and leveled quickly on the Varelsi enemies so we were able to deal with the other side in good time, we had two minutes to go by the time we entered the fight with Rendain.
Then there was the epic boss fight! We thought Rendain shouldn’t be too hard, until he disappeared and bosses from older missions started spawning in! The Conservator was the hardest, we essentially had to snipe it (We had a Toby, OM, and I was playing Thorn) while Miko concentrated solely on healing us. Then Rendain came back and it was brutal! The Thrall Brutes were overwhelming so we isolated Randain on the only area of the map where there were no Brutes or Anchors, the idea was to eliminate him quickly and not focus on the surrounding enemies. Then he disappeared again… >.< We got him down to a quarter life and I was the last alive, I was surrounded by closing Brutes with Rendain pinning me in a corner (Bad situational awareness) so I focused everything I had on him. Close, but no cigar.

Anyway, the level and the boss fight/s were amazing, the layout was brilliant, the difficulty is unmatched by anything I’ve played before. Tomorrow I will kill Rendain when I get the game (Been playing with friends) and I will unlock Deande! Gearbox, you have done very well with this campaign, the increasing difficulty and length of the missions is absolutely brilliant, I love this game more than I thought I would and I can’t wait to see what more you have for us in the future!

Tbh I would have liked if it was longer with more tiers of bosses but in all it was still kickass

Tried it after completing The Saboteur with Miko so jumped into it public (normal) with same char because I felt like “why not?” and got grouped with a Montana and the third player dc’ed in char-select.

I feel ike that Montana had done it before since without their points of direction here and there, I had no idea what to expect, especially at the 2nd to last bit. XD

Basically learned to stay away from edges and off the center almost entirely at that bit lol

Sad part of Rendain fight is that if you stay at one of the side platform, the thrall mobs won’t come to help Rendain as Rendain chases after you.

Abused this to help someone get Attikus legendary with ease.

Tbh the advanced version is soooooo much fun. Its very intense and has a crapton of “elite” enemies. I also solo’d it with Boldur XD(both advanced and normal).

Jeez you soloed Heliophage? Damn. I did it with one other and finished gold but that was on normal.

I soloed Heliophage advanced hardcore with OscarMike (silver)yesterday, took me 1 hour and 35 minutes or so (mostly because of the rendain boss battle)
it was fantastic, however the loot drop is not equal to the amount of time spent killing him (or i missed a drop, which seems unlikely)

Believe me I was surprised too. Got up to the second part with like 13 lives and finished it with 8(godamn knockback XD). It gets really intense but you can stay on one platform and kinda funnel things so they don’t zerg you(do not try this on the center platform you will be very sad :stuck_out_tongue:) .

I’m enjoying the Heliophage so far as a mission. I’ve completed it a few times on Normal after attempting it on Advanced with a Rath who used 2-3x more lives than everybody else.

It’s fun and the boss rush is an old classic, my only problem is that when Warlord Nix comes, nobody ever spends any time trying to clear the wave of 30-40 something Thrall Brutes that inevitably melt everybody that so much as breathe, same goes for Rendain’s adds. Though, to be fair, that is an issue with the players not understanding the prioritization of kill the legion of adds that will murder you then spawn camp you before trying to kill the boss that only spawns more adds at set health intervals, and not the game itself.

Any advice would be appreciated. I probably need to do it solo since groups are a crapshoot and I don’t feel like wasting my time with people I can’t rely on.

Or I’ll just wait until its patched, since the devs have admitted that the mission is messed up right now.

I did it on advanced yesterday with three: Toby, OM, and I was Thorn. We hadn’t list a life until the Rendain fight , we had 13 at that stage and finished with 0 lol but I got Deande and we got gold! =D

Yes I would recommend a group of two, me and my brother have only done it on private as randoms tend to just run in and constantly die, also try to stick together, I marquise at the time and my brother was whiskey foxtrot
