Seems to be similar from the sound of it.
…and the look of it, too. The typical layer of caramelized sugar is missing. As @Dr_Do-Little posted crème caramel is a close relative.

Problem might be that bow ties are currently considered either ultra-formal (weddings etc.) or as something old professors wear. Anyway, I like them better than ties, so a comeback would be well received.

Lol you right.
I saw someone wearing one the other day and got super excited. I made sure to tell him how nice it looked.
He pulled it off so well in that he didn’t look super formal, or like a professor, just a nice accessory to his outfit. Hopefully they make a come back.
