For someone like me who struggles with accuracy, the three projectile burst was a better fit overall. Where I notice it the most is in FFYL–it’s been a bit more effort for me to get a kill. On the plus side, I think the distance of the projectiles have been greatly increased–it seems as if they took the combined distance of the three orbs and put them into one. I did a run through Athenas on my way to Traunt and I could tell the orb would travel a significantly greater distance than before (so I’m no longer running into my own shots).
It wasn’t a nerf, it was a buff.
What’s a good “regular” shotty these days? Most I see/use have some sort of quirk that really doesn’t make them look/feel like a traditional shotty.
I mean in the way you use it. As I explained in my post, I like to run and straff with the burst fire lob, moving on before the shot has landed, as I know the 3 orbs will be enough to do the job. Can’t do that with any other shottie.
The fire rate increase does allow that now and I bet you wouldn’t be standing there that much longer than firing off the 3 round version.
It is just a playstyle issue
Honestly I just like a plain old purple Jakobs shotty, any variety, anointments optional. Just a good ol’ fashioned shotgun with stopping power.
I like Maliwan Terminators as well.
I’d like a BL2 ultra stable mid range hyperion shotgun. The BL3 ones tend to have much more kick (on a hyperion!).
Lobs are really stupidly good now, but I kinda wish they didn’t exist because they outclass any other guns I could ever equip on Moze by a longshot, it’s like intentionally handicapping myself if I ever change my build or swap to any other gear besides lobs+transformer
so I kinda lost interest doing the same exact playstyle with them and I’m now playing around on Amara
I managed to get ahold of 4 Anarchy’s yesterday farming the DLC bosses and I thought they would be a good alternative to the Lob. Nope, not for me anyway. I love the way it fires, more like a tradition shotty, but it has nowhere near the stopping power as the Lob. I tested all of my level 57 shotty’s on Tom and Xam and the Lob was the clearcut winner running away.
Well after re-reading the perk for the Anarchy I found I didn’t give it a fair shake. I forgot about the no reloading thing and making sure I stay on target. Tonight will be the real test of Anarchy vs Lob (but I’m pretty confident Lob will win big time).
it was a tweak a balance if that makes sense yeah it no longer shoots three op orbs instead it shoots one op orb a trigger pull but it’s still a great gun it wasn’t nerfed just tweaked to make it take more effort for the same results and for that I’m cool with it as it in the end still does the same job
I’m with all the others. Still seems quite OP to me but I don’t play Zane. Easier to use with single shots and fires faster. I keep one in my inventory but don’t use it on most fights because it’s still too OP IMO. I only use it on particularly difficult fights or enemies that my other guns don’t seem to work well on.
The Lob is certainly powerful (even after the nerf ), I just killed Kawagawi ball in about 8 shots with it for example.
But golly, I’m not temperamentally suited for the ssssllllooooowwww projectile flight. I fire, put down the controller, take a sip of coffee, oh look, it finally hit (or missed). I dream about Accelerate from BL2 to make the danged orbs go faster.
I’ll stick to the Anarchy.

Yeah, it’s kind of funny how you can shoot it and then outrun it and get hit by your own projectile. That’s why I mostly use it at close range because it’s so slow.
It also feels especially powerful on Amara. I can TTB the power rangers and kill them all in about 2 seconds.
Finding a class mod or artifact with 69 percent torgue projectile speed helps a lot
I’m one of the few people who preferred the the burst fire lob. I think we do miss out on a little bit of burst damage. It does take a little longer to kill things, but not by much.
