Play Diablo 3 and you will understand why we dislike the loot nerf.
I have and I do.
I’m just agreeing that the nerf is fine. It’s no where near as bad as anyone is making it out to be and I still receive more loot than in all other Borderlands entries combined.
Eh, I’ve been telling just about everyone I know about the loot nerf, I originally promoted borderlands 3 to my friends praising it for being so close to diablo 3’s loot system, I had to go and tell them all about it after the nerf dropped, so maybe it still would’ve been severe, word travels.
@Monsterdroid Can you expand on what you mean? In Diablo 3 I kill mobs and loot drops. In Borderlands I kill mobs and loot drops. So based on this alone, we can conclude that if you’re playing the game, loot will drop.
Never since I hit 2k paragons , game become really stale after the expansion and I came back for necro.Still stale.Regardless of the matter in both games you kill mobs/bosses and get loot.Thats the similarities.
PS.On a positive note , Ive preordered both Diablo 2 and 3.And I didnt made any exception for this game either.I really like drops out of nowhere and thats the similarities. And both franchises have really similar way of farming.
Yeah, I was feeling like I was playing a different game or living in a parallel universe than all the people complaining about not getting legendary drops anymore.
I mean, after the patch I went in expecting BL2-like rates, but they are so much better than that.
Loot is abundant, Good loot is abundant, Strong and perfect gear is not, Anointments are similar to the class specific bonus effects you could get in diablo 3 Looting felt really good in diablo 3
Pre loot nerf Bl3 is perfect in terms of loot distribution.
I have been farming for days off patch, still have not got any perfect gear, far from my dream build still, and still trying to get an elemental butcher; I stayed up to late I’;; have a follow up tomorrow where I try to explain myself better, if I even get on the forums tomorrow.
I don’t have a problem with the general drop rate. I however do have a HUGE problem with the lack of dedicated and assigned drops. This presequel style of you can get anything from anyone is BAD! It’s what made people hate the PS and quit playing it quickly. No clue why they abandoned what was universally praised as one of BL2’s best features for this inferior system. FINALLY getting that drop from that boss feels good, finally getting something you want on BL3 is a crapshoot, you can get it in minutes or quite possibly never at all due to the nature of the drops and the sheer enormity of the loot pool.
I don’t really disagree with you, but BL3 drops were like that pre-nerf as well, and yet people act as if it was the nerf that killed the sun and all happiness in the world.
great post, especially about the links to understand rng and confirmation bias.
not a boss farmer myself, more enjoy mobbing and high quality loot has been coming in at a good rate.
People overreact to change, it’s most of our nature. I’m guilty of this from time to time as well tbh, and have made a few comments in this vain i’m not going to lie. I did like the lootsplosions but it’s still decent enough as far as drops go. Again my problem stems from your complete inability to reliably get over 80% of the loot pool in the game. It gets worse and worse as time goes on and you are looking for those vital last pieces of gear or elemental upgrades to things you already have and makes the end game extremely lackluster. I’m at the point now with about 5 days play time (3 on Zane and just over 2 on Moze) that I just can’t really be bothered anymore because the chances of me getting something I actually want at this point is almost nonexistent sadly. I never felt this way in 2 even after just over 900 hours played. Randomness in a game that is already as random as Borderlands makes for a very unsatisfying grind IMHO
My thoughts exactly! I just spent 2 hours farming without the hotfix just to see some loot drop, and even tho I was getting 3-8 legendaries per run i picked up like 5 new items overall. I know legendaries dropping is supposed to be special, but getting random legendaries you dont need doesn’t help at all. Not to mention all the skins that you already have still dropping and taking up space in the lost loot machine
The skins and heads thing sorta erks me too. You’d figure the game would have the sense to not focus on something you’ve already learned since it informs you just by looking at the item you have indeed already unlocked it. Very strange that one. Also it’d be nice to have a filter on the lost loot machine in general. Tell it to focus on Legendaries, it does for the most part but it seems to me it functions based upon item score, which means about jack crap all truth be told. You needn’t look further than the flakker’s item score to know that it means nothing in terms of damage or effectiveness lol
Yeah the items it prioritizes are really weird, ive seen it quite a few times even prioritize skins and not pickup the legendaries that dropped after. Also its hard to emtpy the damn thing and get new items to go in there, i guess switching your game to coomp and back to coop does that but damn it would be better to have the machine work like a shop and if you dont like any of the items have a trash button to empty it completely
That’s a great idea tbh. I’d much rather it have a vendor type set up instead of just spitting them all out on the ground to the point you can’t even see the items individually. Having it like a vendor and being able to just sell/discard like mail would be much much better. They should get on that <3
It would also stop my gigantic spiderant from standing on top of the pile not being able to look at the loot for minutes until it decides to move along
