Like CE but worse.
Ok - I’ll add another control and try to re-create that.
edit - when I re-create the situation above without any points in Close Enough, shots from the Madhous do not ricochet over towards the Constructor (then when I add them and fire at the same spot, shots start ricocheting). What were the circumstances of your testing that indicated the Madhous bullets had homing capabilities?
They always seemed to proc towards an enemies general direction, thats all.
Tested it for several hours after I think poka said it.
It’s also the case if the thread is on the next pages of the section’s list… so if a page hasn’t been interacted with in a long time and fell in the 6-7th page of the loot section, but was still accessed because it was linked to in the lootology, then it’s gone forever
Here’s what I find:
- Nth Degree works with the Madhous; the re-directed bullet does not split on a direct hit.
- Split bullets (reflected off a surface from the initial shot) count individually towards your next Nth Degree.
- Nth Degree will only reflect one of the pellets from a split shot (whichever one hits the initial target first, in which case the second pellet counts towards your subsequent Nth Degree, along with the reflected shot if it manages to connect with a second target.
Once you have a stack of Nth Degree up and begin consuming it in combat, and assuming you can land both split shots on target, and that the reflected shot will hit a second target (which in practice isn’t always the case, but this is certainly possible), you can get Nth Degree to trigger for every other round fired from your weapon. Here’s the scoop: the starting conditions here are that you have +5 in Nth Degree, and Nth Degree is already active (so the next shot will reflect).
- Nth Degree is active.
- First round out of your magazine: fire your weapon at the ground so it splits and both shots hit the target.
- The first split that hits the target consumes Nth Degree, and is reflected towards a second target.
- The second split that hits the target (since Nth Degree has reset) starts the counter anew with one shot.
- The first split, which hits the second target by its redirected path from Nth Degree sets the counter to two.
- Second round out of your magazine: fire your weapon at the ground as before.
- Each split counts towards Nth Degree, so you have your third and fourth shots.
- Repeat this loop now that Nth Degree is reactivated.
Exactly. Thing is, as I understood several posts this summer from the CM whose name I’m terrible at remembering, this would be looked at with the understanding that it would be remedied.
(I checked and its @JoeKGBX .)
Maybe I misunderstood or maybe it wasn’t doable.
Thanks for this. I’m trying to think of a fun way to abuse it, but I still haven’t woken up properly. At some point I will.
Wake up, that is.
There’s some great work done already by @0verload here (on this forum), which he ported from here (on the old forum) in response to some thread that seems to have been lost during the move.
I know, quote-replying because it’s worth repeating (^_~)
(Also, because I don’t give ‘likes’. Don’t ask why unless you enjoy walls of text. Or possibly short and somewhat acerbic notes about the state of social media.)
The Madhous! doesnt look so bad when we count with Nth Degree. HM
The penalty from CE still apply on the split bullets? The Madhous! is kinda looking a better Vladof Blaster.
Ok, I’ll bite
why ?
I answered this, but I’m pulling it as it’s way too off topic. I’ll message you and you can make of it what you will.
The penalty from CE still apply on the split bullets?
(goes and does a quick check) Nope! Bullets that are both split (from the weapon mechanism) and reflected (from Close Enough) do not get the damage penalty. For Gaige, compared to a standard assault rifle relying on Close Enough, the Madhous has four times the damage (assuming the redirected splits both hit the target)? Damage per round is doubled once (from the free split shot), and then not nerfed by Close Enough’s penalty.
Seriously though, if you get your hands on this weapon and try it, let me know if your results don’t match.
Might I recomend a Storm for high DoT damage? I seem to remember a DoT Gaige build and from what I remember, it’s DoT is based off of the weapons damage itself and is increased further with anarchy.
Correct me if I’m wrong though.
Ok, it seems that now, all the numbers I have found for DoTs can be thrown out the window.
Anyone knows what the new values are ?
From the update to splash damage, Maya specifically, or some weapon buffs that I’m not aware of (or something else)?
On the Maya board, users are adamant that DoT as a whole have been buffed
Interesting… if they’re not getting a false positive from Cloud Kill, that will be a welcome addition. Back to the laboratory!
edit - that’s going to be tricky without pre-patch control numbers
Above I have the numbers for the DoT values at level 1 for every gun in the game, and @khimerakiller posted pictures of a few guns. we just have to get the same guns now and see if the values match.
If it’s not the values themselves that have changed, then it’s how they are applied, that could be tested on the dummy somewhat
AFAIK, @Derch has 2 videos on his channel. One pre-patch and one post-patch for Maya’s skills, specifically focusing on those likely impacted by the 10/29/2015 patch.

Nice! I don’t play at OP8 (and it sounds like they’ve got this well in hand). I’ll do some field testing of my own to see if I notice anythin though. Are they going to post results here?
