The map Echelon and Outskirts destroys my framerates

Maybe it’s all the shiny stuff? Those maps shred my performance. Frames drop into the 30’s. It becomes almost unplayable, I can’t aim, see what’s happening, etc. I am using a Radeon R9 390. All the other maps work fine, framerates in the 100-200’s on average.

Other games on my PC run flawlessly. Even Battleborn runs fine. Just not those maps.

It’s at the point where I have to leave the matches when it happens. :frowning:

is there any setting on my machine that could help?

Right now it’s set to

shadows: medium
particles: normal
vsync: off
framerate: unlimited
anistropic: 4x
bullets: mnedium
foail distance: far
texture: very high
view distance: high

resolution: 640x480 - 1920x1080 (this doesn’t seem to change anything) No matter what I set the resolution, it always gives me the same frames, and looks exactly the same.

everything set to ON, motion blur: off

I have all the updated drivers for my card.

Some people said that disabling particles (it’s the same as NVIDIA Physx with other name) and the dinamic shadows help the framerates.

What this guy said; particles were the deciding factor for me on some of the maps.

It’s strange that the Jennerit maps seem to perform so badly compared to other maps. I guess the way they achieve some of the effects in those maps is really inefficient.

I think that is something bad with the Jennerit maps too because all my framerates problems happen in the 2 Jennerit PvE missions and Echelon and the new meltdown map.

Sorry to be the one to say this but I only have one word to describe your problem.

AMD

No more needs to be said.

Don’t think that’s entirely true, just one piece of the puzzle. Iirc, some people with 980Ti and such have reported issues as well.

However, I can say that moving from an R9 280 to a 1070 recently has made a massive difference.

When you say disable particles, do you mean setting “Particle Detail Mode” to low?

Yes because you can’t disable it completely.

Disable dynamic lighting from the config files, instant performance!

How do I do that?

You have to modify

C:\Users%USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Battleborn\PoplarGame\Config\PoplarEngine.ini

find the line

DynamicLights=True

and switch it to False; the caveat is everything will become darker. But its there if you’re willing to live with it. Some who find the game way too saturated with color like it though.
