The new anointments Nov 2020

So, in the latest patch notes, it says there’s 14 new anoints that’ve been added to the game. So far, I’ve found a bunch, but can anyone else fill the gaps? Also, what do people think of them, as they seem underwhelming, IMO.

Found :
While using Grasp, +100% gun damage
While using Iron Bear, [insert iron Bear weapon] deals +100% damage - not seen bear fist or rocket pod yet, only minigun, salamander, railgun, v-35 grenade launcher.
Astral Projectional damage from phasecast and related action skills deals +100% damage
Slam damage from phaseslam and related action skills deals +100% damage
Mnts shoulder cannon deals +100% damage
While Gravity Snare is active deal +100% gun damage
Orb damage from phaseflare and related action skills deals +100% damage

Also, anyone see the point of the new “while [specific action skill] active, deal +100% gun damage” compared to the old “while action skill active, deal +200% gun damage”???

  • Sticking with any skill 200%
  • Changing to set skill 100%

well, if they choose the stick with the new ones, thats fine while also increasing the RNG
but if they keep both, the balance is again completely braindead?

Well, they can only really switch to the new ones with a level cap raise, or by nerfing the old ones. Otherwise everyone will keep the old ones.

right, if we are not missing something, the old ones are still 2 times stronger and universal^^
well, not speaking for moze anointments which actually brought something new this time (what a surprise lol)

You’re just missing “While Iron Cub is active, +100% gun damage”.

What do I think of them? This is a case where doing nothing is better than doing something, because, in the current state of the game, these new anointments feel unnecessary and they further dilute the pools. Does IB really need more damage when it already trivializes content? Unless there is some future patch that nerfs IB so that you need to invest more resources, I don’t see the point of these new anointments.

P.S. I can’t comment on the MNTIS and Phaseflare anointments because I haven’t purchased Season Pass 2 yet.

Interestingly, that one’s actually 200%

I just don t understand this…
They removed airbone/slide anoints and a few others and now they clutter the already horrible loot pool with that…

What is even the point compared to asa 200 just keep this one? Of course they act dufferently because of their garbage mumbo jumbo damage calculation, the wording is meaningless and we will have to test to know which is best

Also now there are 2 fadeaway anoints:

the classic one with handling and accuracy
and the new one with 100% dmg whatever the f… that even means ( v1, v2 ??? something else?)

Instead of buffing the existing one with some damage they created a new one…

So now I find anoints for the dlc that I dont have and will never ever buy. I find a metric crap ton of Moze anoints I don t care about ( as if all the handling reloading, ib cooldown on kill, inc crit mag anoint pollution was not enough) and what are these anoints for anyway I thought Ib was already an unstoppable op killing machine?

Huh. The one I found definitely SAYS 100%. Does it actually give a bigger buff, or have you seen it say 200%?

It says 100% but if you test it, the numbers end up at 200%

I really don’t get the point in adding more anoits to the lootpool after removing some useless anoint…

This was my initial response when I saw the new IB anoints. I mean seriously, between Mayhem scaling and Specialist Bear, does anyone think IB needs MORE damage?

I’ve seen both of these drop. I use the rocket pod one on a Blind Sage.

It seems “improvements” to the game are dictated by a marketing/money person as opposed to people who play and enjoy the game…? That would explain much of what’s taken place.

Guess the shoulder cannon got the 100% from phaseslam, lol.
Been testing the new phaseslam anoint and felt like it actually DEcreased the action skill damage, so tested it on the dummy in sanctuary and it doesn’t seem to affect the damage at all. Started testing with fracture, then normal phaseslam, and anoint had no effect. I even compared jump and slam, just in case, but nothing. Seems like the anoint is broken.

I confirm this on ps4

new anoint ‘Slam increased by 100% for Phaseslam and related action skills’
DOES NOT WORK damage stays the same whether you equip a weapon with this anoint or not

I tested the new phasecast one: it works
New phasegrasp anoint works as well

At this point I d like to talk about testing before releasing

gearbox clearly acts like they have no knowledge of their own damage formulas

there is no way u give bonus elemental boost same value as flat gun damage and there is no way you give splash even more than both.

I dont see the need for having different anoints for the various bear weapons when a simple “Iron Bear dose 100% increased damage” would do it. Just make sure it doesn’t touch Skag Den.
