I’m not aiming this at anybody in particular, but fellas…just enjoy the ride of Moze being powerful lol
I see all this talk of “FitSD too strong,” “It’s doing all the work,” “please fix” and “It’s so broken”…but 1) its a PvE game, so who cares, and 2) there are waaaaaaay more broken interactions in this game…and people won’t say a word about those
Moze didn’t need it before scaling because the yellowcake was disgusting.
Every vh besides fl4k can abuse the action skill damage scaling one way or another, and they all get to use solid grenade and shield anoints. While i do think that having short fuse and fitsd as must-have skills isn’t a good way to go about things with regards to build diversity, they’re currently the main things not making her miserable to play as and locked into one or two weapons like she was for most of the time the game’s been out
I care because it’s a balance creep just as much as powerful weapons being added with each new dlc, except worse.
Whatever content they add need to match the current capabilities of our VHs and if it’s aimed to be challenging content they need to aim slightly higher.
Is it actually a good idea to have the first skill in the row to be doing 5x amount of damage? I think everyone can agree with 15% being to little, but nearly 500%? I as a player can ignore it, but you think future balance will ignore it too if it stays?
I never used yellowcake, it didn’t feel needed at all for me.
If the outliers like yellowcake, backburners, sandhawks etc are the point of reference in what’s considered good when making comparisons then yes, everything will automatically be bad. But moze don’t actually need those weapons to clear all the content this game offers. Nothing will match them, obviously. But i would not consider Moze be trash without them either.
For proper balance, the outliers being outliers should be taken into consideration, at the very least; there were a couple other guns people were using well for general purposes on moze, but other vault hunters had a much larger set of options.
It’s a similar issue to me as zane having basically one class mod. Now moze has options (though i do agree that having it all tied to one or two skills is not a good way to go about it)
I love how we talk about FitSD being “too strong” meanwhile my friend has a Amara build were he literally just grabs something with TTB and hits so much damage there isnt a number. I think if GB thought FitSD was OP, they would of hotfixed it by now. FitSD could be 1000% and it still wouldnt be as bs as TTB lmao.
I’m with the assumption that all those things gets changes to their scaling aswell. What i’m trying to figure out is where FitsD should be. 15% is to small of a bonus and 465% is to much.
Ignoring what the other VHs can do, 465% bonus damage on FitsD isn’t healthy for the game, no matter how fun or great it makes weaker guns that are ignored by balancing.
Exactly. TTB can hit the visual damage cap without even really trying. Fl4k can also do some silly things with Two Fang and Megavore.
I don’t see a problem with FitSD, but I also only have 2 points in that skill. My current build is relying more on TCP (10/5 with my Rocketeer). But my Tediore build is maxed 10/5 with a mindsweeper, and yea, it does some ridiculous damage, but I also kill myself with it more than anything.
The damage formula threads for each character are probably a good place to start looking, although Fire in the Skag Den and Ties That Bind + Revelation are the biggest offenders for going crazy from Mayhem levels.
@Aaron0000 I believe Indiscriminate ricochets are another one that benefits from the Mayhem boost to AS damage.
As far as FITSD and its scaling, I have mixed feelings. It is really powerful, and gets even more powerful after you invest in some of Moze’s other skills. Is FITSD any more powerful than TTB? I don’t think so. FITSD definitely is less situational (that is, it is always on, at least with splash weapons), so that makes it slightly more useful in my book, but you also can’t kill an entire room in one shot with it.
Zane has his barrier which basically makes him immune from many sources of damage while the barrier is out. That’s pretty damn powerful.
The biggest issue that FITSD has is that it is a tier 1 skill that requires only the 5 points to get it. If FITSD was a capstone, I don’t think anyone would be complaining nearly as much about how powerful it is.

I’m game for Moze’s skills to do more damage against the eye-watering enemy health pools at Mayhem 10, but it would be helpful if the bonus damage was spread out across skills a little more.
So am I supposed to be bothered by the Short Fuse thing, where ‘competitive’ Moze builds have to go all the way to a capstone, or by this other thing, which is the opposite of that?
@Minus_SHiFT I didn’t say you should be bothered by either one. I said myself in my post:
I do think it seems wrong that you get FITSD as a tier 1 skill, and it is as powerful as it is. I am not sure I think it is wrong for Moze to have this very powerful skill, however. It just seems kind of silly that you get that much effect for 5 skill points, requiring no build or thought at all. This seems kind of like the Zane Seein Dead debate.
@renfried Yeah, close enough there to a capstone to call it good. It just seems that if there is a skill that powerful, you at least should have to invest something for it.
I like how we are saying 465% is too much meanwhile there was a Skill in BL2 called Money Shot that with a +6 COM was 880% (although I think it was actually 1024% but the text was broken). I honestly think FitSD is fine, like its not like its really breaking the game. Considering that really all its doing is making bad guns at least usable. Like I said before, I honestly think if GB thought it was a problem, they would of hotfixed it by now. Its also not health for TTB to be able to do a billion damage but its Borderlands so like who really cares lol.
it took 10 months for GB to fix bonus projectiles. If that is what you are counting on for them to keep this in the game, I’d really suggest reconsidering.
To be honest tho, Bonus Projectiles werent really a problem on anything besides the Recursion. But at any rate, I still really dont think FitSD is really that game breaking in the grand scheme of things.
