If Peak Opener isn’t overpowered, please tell me what gun is?

If your argument here is to subtly insult everyone who uses it then ask whimsical questions instead of engaging in an actual discussion, have at it, but I’m not going to justify that with any further answer.

So you can’t name a more overpowered gun, I see.
You can’t have a human conversation without getting “insulted”? First worlders…
Why don’t you engage in it?

Umm … Salvador’s best option is still the Lyuda (or Deputy for Magic Slaughter), Axton’s best option is still the Fastball, Maya’s best options are either Ultrafacer or Cat COM (or FotF spam for crowded arenas), Gaige’s best option is still the Fibber, and Zer0’s best options are either Sniping or Melee. I agree that the Peak Opener can be incorporated into some of these playstyles, but it’s not meta to the point where it outperforms everything.
The only character that truly breaks the Peak Opener to the point that it’s his new best option is Krieg, and I see nothing wrong with that. Krieg always was terrible in the Peak, now he has a specific meta option that allows him to compete with other characters. And still Krieg’s best option in 2 Arenas (Creature Slaughter, Pete’s Bar) is straight-up FotF spam just like Maya.
Lyuda. Grog Nozzle.
LOL, and LOL

I mean, I never thought I’d have to explain how a Shocket Launcher could be fun, but then, I never thought I’d be posting on a video game forum, so here we are.
Not to speak for anyone else, but my deepest enjoyment in this game comes in two forms. One is turning preconceived notions of gameplay on their head, and the other is getting deeply into the head of the character and playing the way they would. Which is why I love Gaige. Because I can do that so many ways.
But for now, I’ll talk about being in character. I have a playstyle that my friend once called “the most in character Gaige I’ve ever seen”. I am in the face, claws deep, blowing myself up and instantly coming back up in a nanosecond because every risky shot was calculated. I played for three hours straight with a friend, and hit FFYL almost a hundred times, but never saw A New U.
The Shocket Launcher synergizes with this amazingly. It’s great for when I need to soften up an area on my way in. It’s good for when something way over there needs to die RIGHT NOW. When I go into FFYL and I need a little boost, I just spray and the splash helps. Gaige is an Anarchist, not a soldier, regular rocket launchers make no sense. It’s an awesome utility kit that doesn’t work in my normal range because it WILL KILL ME if i bring it to claws range.
Everything is about making the most of it, and the Shocket Launcher (Peak Opener) is a wonderfully fresh weapon that opens new doors for ridiculous playstyle mechanics.
Allen, write some dialog here.

I’m right with you here. When I play as Krieg, I am Krieg!
Theory crafting is my favourite aspect of any RPG. I spend hours upon hours theory crafting. That’s one reason why I love Krieg, he’s just so wacky and silly. Are they the same thing? Whatever. He has several skills that synergise stupidly well with the Shocket Launcher. And as Ender said, Krieg used to suffer the most on DigiPeak. Well, he still does, but a gun with a stupid fire rate that explodes everywhere and kills everything including you then runs out of ammo just as quickly as it fires is basically Krieg incarnate.
I was a Maya main for seven years. Not so sure anymore.

knee-jerk reactions op
The number of assumptions made here is pretty baffling
- That people who have played the game for years need the Peak Opener to complete it.
- That people like the Peak Opener only because they are too scrub to use anything else.
- On that note, that people use the Peak Opener exclusively.
- That people who enjoy using top-tier gear don’t also enjoy using loads of other items in the game such as non-uniques, or engage in challenge runs, competitive time trials etc
- Good players don’t use the best items of the game, if they do, they are ‘bad players’ who can’t complete the game.
This is an 8 year old game that many of us have been playing for the majority of that period. A new DLC comes out with new, powerful gear which can change the meta of some characters, or allow new min-max setups, people are going to be excited- that’s how a gear-based game is. You should have paused and gave this some thought before making wild assumptions on the kind of player they are.

I highly doubt this gun will achieve the stratospheric cheese heights of the Norfleet ; but from the general level of excitement amongst forum members I don’t think anyone cares at this point.
It’s new. It kicks ass. We’ll set it aside if it gets boring. Or more likely keep it for OP10.

I agree, It really stand up to it’s name Peak Opener meaning, you open the digistruck peak with it and then you run out of ammo before scorch.
It is a good side arm, but not your main weapon.
Except maybe for Krieg.
Ogre is still for my Axton, I hope I have an OP10 one.

Which is why I “subtly” hinted a stockpile relic would be my choice over on John’s “best relic” thread. Not to restart that conversation or anything…

OP1, I just decided I didn’t wanna meet Scorch at all. So I tossed on a Bee and the Shocket Launcher and told him to stay. He stayed.

I run Murderlin’s fairly often, got an Ogre last week. I’ll keep the next one I get. We can do a duo at some point if you want, I usually run melee Krieg there.
Even if you don’t use it up until that point, you’ll run out of ammo on Scorch.
Then you have to kill the other one…

Did you lag much that day we ran TTAoDK? From my perspective at least you looked to be suffering less than Chemical.

Is it just me or is the gun’s sound a deal maker or breaker. Like the sound of Stompers in BL1 (awesome).
The Ogre just makes this poo poo poo sound. I don’t approve.
The PO makes the sound of death. I like this very much.

I’m down for Sat/Sun arvo raids!
Not just you. The Harold sounds like a wispy fart, I hate it. Maliwan SMGs sound like someone stirring their coffee. I guess they’re both relevant sounds though, wispy farts can kill and Maliwan SMGs hit about as hard as a teaspoon clinking a ceramic mug.
I never knew what that sound was before the Shocket Launcher. Now I know, and knowing’s half the battle.
G-B-X!
