Well, the ‘Deprecated’ value seems like it might explain some stuff. I don’t know if there are any other settings you can tweak to use only the lower res textures. It seems like having that option would be a good thing. On consoles like the XB1X/PS4 Pro, the settings are labelled in the UI as performance versus resolution. Don’t know if that helps at all or not for PC.
I tried changing it but the file is changed back again on it’s own. Looks like the game doesn’t want that changed.
Set the file to read only 
Though anything you change in game that needs to change the ini file will reset on restart though (that’s what is happening now)
Yeah I set it to read only but it doesn’t affect the game performance. I replied to support with my invoice # to see if the refund is still possible but I doubt it. I spent way too long on it and my desire to play is dead now.

Maybe try again in a year or so (game will be more polished when they slow down content creation or at least I hope)

So, what, GB decided to go for both? They’re both getting more ridiculous with each update. You know GB is putting a lot of effort into getting the PS5 issues worked out because the issues on the PS4 can’t, and won’t be fixed.
The lag and frame drops are making it not worth playing solo, let alone coop, on ps4. Accurate movement and aiming are near impossible at times, and navigating menus is painful. I’ve complained about this before; the game crashes the system EVERY TIME in local coop. That’s not exaggeration. It may be 2 hours or 30 min but it is inevitable.
I know there’s a lot of nostalgia about BL1 but I never thought ppl were referring to load times. Soon you’ll have to start the game the day before you want to play. At least the level loads are enough time for a bathroom break. And a 5 course meal. And restoring a vintage car.
