Another Star Wars reference: the mission title “Don’t Get Cocky!”

It seems like there was another Crocodile Dundee reference I can no longer remember, but here are a couple:

  1. The location where Deirdre is hiding out in “Wherefore Art Thou?” in Triton Flats is called Banjo Point.
  2. The scav pistol and the latecomer competitor from The Psychology of a Claptrap both named “Donk!”

These are both actually references to Crocodile Dundee II.

@ACNAero

I had somehow forgotten about that Monty Python reference in TPS!

/hits self with large fish

Life of Brian is so brilliant!

I’d love to see a huge, multi-level chorus line of BL characters, villains, NPCs, robots, and monsters doing “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”!

I think Claptrap’s line

“Why do I feel radioactive?!” is a reference to the M1A1HA tank. The HA package was basically putting DU (Depleted Uranium, a radioactive element) in several places around the tank to increase armor effectiveness.

He says that when he gets a shield subroutine.

Jack’s “Merger” skill for a laser melee attack is quoted “Couldn’t you have opened with that” and is a reference to a line in Iron Man 2. Lt. Rhodes/War Machine asks Tony Stark that question after Iron Man uses his “1 off” lasers to fend off the drones created by Whiplash.

I think Jack himself is a reference to Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid series, because :

  1. They both original name is John, while others calls them Jack.

  2. Both turn on to bad from good guy.

  3. Both have eyepatch on right eye. Jack has it on hes head One-Eyed.

  4. Both have damaged eye(half reference because Jack has left eyed damaged while Big Boss right eye)

  5. Both been betrayed by their women, when everything seems to be going alright.

During the mission Last Requests you come across Nel dressed in armor that looks like it was made from Kraagons and when you call him a dick he does the collapse gesture from Monster Hunter. Then when you initiate the secret boss battle with him and get him to agro he will only use melee and bombs much like a Hunter from said series.

The red text on this gun reads, “Such is bite”, a reference to a quote by Ned Kelly before he was executed, “Such if life”

Very famous words in Australian history.

Who’s Australia’s greatest cricketer of all time? AND DON’T SAY SHANE ■■■■■■■ WARNE!"

I knew this wouldn’t be here. I’m disappointed, but as an Aussie the most obvious reference was “Captain Chef” who is a direct reference to Captain James Cook, the man credited with discovering Australia. The king he’s saluting while the flag raises, King Greg, is a reference to King George, England’s king at the time. The disgruntled locals are the Indigenous, or Aboriginal, people of Australia, obviously, although they didn’t say “Piss off ■■■■■■■■” when he landed. I’m surprised that instead of just shooting them the second mission objective wasn’t to give them blankets…

Poking around in the depths of the system as I just stumbled across a reference I hadn’t known about before.

The Darksiders building is called “The Grabba”; Brisbane Cricket Ground is called “The Gabba”. (And England’s chances in the current Ashes match a looking a bit wobbly!)

Also I’m going to copy this one over from another thread that didn’t get as much traction:

I think we’re still missing a TON of references (as well as explanations of Aussie slang terms) from the original forums. (EG: Dunny and Boganella just for starters, Heartful Splodger being Artful Dodger…)

The legendary shield, the reogenator, has the red text of ‘are you alright, Issac?’ Which is a reference to the dead space series.

In the Drakensberg briefing room the second bullet point of crew briefing #74205 is a TOS tribbles reference.
