The Weightlifting and fitness thread

Started doing sandbag workouts today. I got my ass kicked but is definitely fun doing something different.

trying to get back into the swing of things. I am really sore today. Sat. was curls mostly. Sunday was chest(just push ups). really sore today. lol feels good. it’s a good kinda pain, if you know what i mean. :muscle:t2:

Ah man, I’m jealous. I’ve had to stop working out since my school’s basketball season started (I do the books for home games, and often don’t get home on those nights until 8 or 9). Once February rolls around, I’ll be able to get back into it, but right now I’m missing it!

I was just at my girlfriends daughter’s volley ball championship game(they won.) got home around 8:30 and started doing curls before bed. No excuses!

See for me, at that point, it’s make dinner and head to bed before my alarm goes off at 5:15 the next morning! Gotta love having to be at work by 6:45 in the morning.

Well, my alarm goes off at 4:30am M-F. I leave my house by 5:35-5:40 to then drop my son off at my Mom’s house where my Ex, will be picking him up to take him to school by 8am. I am to work by 7am. My drive takes approx. 1hr. and 15min give or take 10 min of traffic fluctuation. I eat once a day. Dinner. I snack during the day. mostly with coffee. I do very little exercise, but I squeeze in what I can due to my chaotic schedule and life style.

edit: No excuses! :sunglasses::laughing:

edit2: keep in mind I am getting my Son ready while getting myself ready as well as Brick and Lilith which tends to slow me down in the mornings. lol Super busy. But we all do what we can, right?!

I’m mostly not getting rounder!

Honestly I knew that I was going to gain some of my weight back. I did, but I’m still quit a bit lighter than I was 6-7 months ago, which is all I’m chasing until I get my own place and put some money down for my own machine.

Also regaining some muscle mass, which is weird. Not sure I’m on board with it.

Same here. I’ve been maintaining so-to-speak. Not really hitting it hard. just picking up the dumbbells every other day for a few sets and pushups and pullups. nothing heavy or mass building. trying to stay lean.

My job i get alot of exercise. Im constantly going up and down stairs, lifting furniture, and walking around. So i stay a good weight and in shape from that. Also not eating over my caliorie limit as much as i can. Then ill exercise 2 to 3 times a week on top of that. Keeps me looking good and feeling good.

Just started muscle exercising again. I do pull ups and push ups for my upper body. Then aerobics for 15 min. As long as you eat your calorie limit and exercise good at least 2 twice a week. You’ll look good.

Been working over the sandbag and was going to early today but my sound system decided to die and by the time I replaced I was needed else where.

My workout area, which is ever growing with new toys.

Even though I’ve laid off on working out for the time being, keeping up with a healthy diet is still helping me out. Weighed in at 164.2 lbs the other day, meaning I’ve officially lost more than 30 pounds since May. Whoop!

Just got done working out, threw the hat on for ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  and giggles. Mr. Sandbag has been keeping me busy.

The only time I was ever skinny was when I was working in a literal furnace within the factory doing a lot of heavy lifting eight hours a day, five days a week. Jobs like that do not exist anymore where I am at.

Just got on my bike again for the first session of the year  Hard work but I’m glad to be at it! I’ve made myself a ā€˜time management’ plan of the week, mainly to schedule in work sessions, but I’ve also put exercise on there; working it into a regular day will be helpful.

I went to a ā€œhotā€ yoga class yesterday, but was woefully unprepared (had a cold, ate right before going, didn’t have a towel, that sort of thing). I’m also incredibly non-limber, and it seemed like an advanced class. I was slipping around all over the mat.

I cannot wait for this cold to pass so I can get onto more activities.

Oof, yoga on a full stomach isn’t enviable! I’ve only been to a few classes in the past but did enjoy them… maybe in the future!

Right now my main commitment starting tomorrow is going to Slimming World, which offers weekly weight loss /lifestyle sessions. Not usually my thing but I’d like to be part of a community in my new years’ mission to get healthier. Their diet advice is really flexible and seems to be mostly about getting into good habits, but without cutting out unhealthy food entirely. A bit nervous about going but I think it will be positive.

Thankfully, my fear that hitting the treadmill hard again would cause me to re-throw out my back was unfounded, and i can proceed to lift again.

The real challenge will be to not cease working out after i am in hiking shape again, though remembrance of the pain should be a good deterrent to break that cycle once and for all.

Got a total gym and another sandbag (25 pounder) using the factory’s reimbursement. Also started a 16/8 fasting and eating routine yesterday. Waking up early to workout before work and hit the shower while also going to bed earlier.

Color me envious.

For me, this has always been the hardest part of ANY lifting routine I’ve done. I understand that adequate sleep (7-8 hours) drives progress, and that inadequate sleep (<6 hours) retards progress. But damn… getting to bed early isn’t always possible.

Yeah I agree, that’s why I would rather workout in the mornings. If I don’t I’ll procrastinate until near time to go to bed and that is not a good idea if you want to fall asleep any time soon.
