I’ve tried buckwheat pancakes before and they were actually pretty good!

They really are, it’s got a good texture and flavor for pancakes. Bit touchy, but yeah I try to keep some of the flour around myself.

Sourdough pancakes are to diiiiiieee for.

If you’ve got a starter, set it up in the evening so it completely sours overnight. Then in the morning add the eggs, salt, etc. but leave out the soda. When the pan(s) is heated, mix up the soda in a bit of water and fold that into the batter - you’ll actually hear it get “hollow” from the forming bubbles.

No idea when it was implemented given I rarely bother with the Steam queue, but apparently after a brief questionanaire Steam will no longer ask me whether I want to continue when it wants to show a violent or sexual game, it’ll just show it.

Don’t think I’ve mentioned it yet, but I’m drinking coffee again. My stomach seems to be tolerating it well enough for me to take it back up. The enormous break has made me appreciate it all the more.

Hopefully it stays at the “it’s pleasant” level! Coffee can be quite acidic, especially some of the dark roasts. I think if you choose wisely and don’t start ramping up the number of mugs a day, you should be good.

Me, I’m happy because (1) I don’t have to go into work today (2) I got to sleep in (3) I got to the coffee before my son did (4) I have no Christmas shopping to do (5) Brick continues to progress nicely through BL1 Pt.1 (6) I get to ice the second Christmas cake today and finally (7) I get to play bass again tonight.

This is turning out to be a super-awesome-fantastic-magical-flying-unicorns kind of day! :unicorn: :rainbow: :four_leaf_clover:

Went down to see my grandma. She was actually a lot better than I thought - really coherent, just a bit confused (not surprising given how she’s been whizzed from pillar to post the last few weeks!).

Plus Christmas. Should probably do some present wrapping…

So I did some shopping…

I don’t have to go into work this week. At all. Feels nice to wake up, look at the clock, say “Naaash!” and go right back to sleep.

Being at school have it’s perks. Even though for the last several years I was off during the holidays. So I’m off too.
Just have to remember to turn the :skull_and_crossbones::japanese_ogre::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::skull::imp::japanese_goblin: alarm off on my phone… Especially when I leave it in the living room…

It’s fun watching the cruise ships enter St. John’s Harbour in Newfoundland - the channel is quite narrow and, if it wasn’t for the sloping sides, you sometimes wonder if ships would get stuck otherwise. Let me see if I can find a photo… brb

Edit:

A rare non-foggy, non-rainy day in St. John’s in early May.

You are funny you two! My sister went to Greece for her ahemm honeymoon. She loved the cruise and if you live in winter country. Bad weather in Greece is still good weather!
She’s also my only “1st hand” source of information about Newfoundland and the Maritimes as she was a navigation officer in the Canadian Coast guard. So yeah, view from the port!

This, made me happy today!

-edit-

Indeed!
