yep, i do the orgrimmar jump in effectively every game i play.
I largely avoid kill skills.
I hate maintaining stacks or other annoying temporary bonuses.
So far I haven’t been playing on Mayhem.
Right now I’m playing NfS Heat which is certainly not an optimal way to make progress in this game.
i feel you.
i use the kill skills but at the same time i’m not 100% in it to activate the skill like some people do
(like trowing a gun at your feet to activate the bonus ecc ecc)
Not only that, you make a melee build for every Vault Hunter, not just Amara.
With the way Fight for Your Life works in this game, coupled with enemy damage+healthgate+healthsteal mechanics, I learned a while ago that using cover is actually rarely ideal.
Put a transformer shield on Moze and face hump the entire map into submission with a Stimulating Foursome shock variant version. Name may be wrong but it’s a pistol that shoots 4 electric projectiles that all meet in the center. I run into an issue then I just get as close as possible to the enemy and blast it till it dies. Sometimes takes a minute or two.
So you like making things harder for yourself lol
I agree with this completely. As soon as I saw them, I knew I didn’t give sh.
Getting the right anointment on the right gear is too rare to get excited about them. I keep some of the good ones when I find them, but I don’t look for them. And I definitely don’t build around them. It’s just not realistic for the amount of hours I play.
Trading section on the forum, trading Reddit, trading Discords. Lots of generous people in this community. Some resources that could make someone in your position’s experience a lot better.
Let me count the ways:
- Don’t farm stuff, just kill whatever is in front of me
- Don’t read skills descriptions that closely and don’t have Excel spreadsheet to figure out optimal point allocation
- Open containers and shoot poop piles even though I am not low on anything
- Walk across the map too often instead of driving or even fast-traveling
- Still inspect Eridian writings even though it does not count (when does that ability show up?)
- Forget to match elements way too often
- Do not watch YouTube videos to discover best guns, builds etc. Occasionally check forums for above info, but almost never follow up in game.
- Ignore end game (in all previous installments, not there yet in BL3). Never killed a raid boss, never found a pearl in BL1. Only took 1 character to max (Mordy in BL1)
- Use the gun because I like how it looks, shoots or sounds.
- Do not trade
- Do not play online
- Ignore challenges (looking at you Cpt. Haunt and your desire to be killed 25 times).
- Do not make mules
- Ignore Atlas gimmick 95% of time.
- Almost never chuck Tediore guns
Still having fun, though
Guilty. I purchased a nice new computer this week and the sales guy handed me some hdmi converter gadget and told me I could use it to play games on the 86" 4k tv which I have. A split second was all I needed to make that decision. Yeah I could do that but then I’d have to get a compatible controller and remote just to simulate my Xbox One X. Not to mention having to deal with hardware compatibility, incompatible drivers, os update issues. No thank you. After years of pc gaming I know I’ll never go back to that.
That’s hardcore.
When I theory craft and make a new build for mobbing, I start testing it in Slaughter Shaft.
Thank you!
If you don’t farm or don’t have 4 chars at 50, though, you don’t need much of bank space. Ask me in few months (oh wait, bank increase is coming too).
Hey, you stole my list
Except challenges. I often take time and go back through the levels looking for Crimson Radios, Claptrap parts etc. I even took a few swipes at Haunt.
I have gone as far as doing the respec thing, and trying different skills. I don’t measure to concisely the results. If I get killed more, I probably made poor choices.
When I first started TPS I played it more like Wolfenstein. I just killed stuff. The first few levels I just ignored the skill points. I had about four to spend, when I finally decided to check out that menu. Then I hit Deadlift. Couldn’t kill him no matter what. Then I discovered you could actually collect and sell all those weapons lying around and buy a better shield. So I do try to buy better gear, or keep it if it falls/discovered.
I’ve grown to like the idea of cultivating and growing a character. But to me it’s more about throwing things against the wall, and see what sticks.
On some level I’m just too lazy
for all that math and thinkin stuff.
I have too much “math and thinking” at work. I don’t need a second job in Borderlands universe. If they die more often that I do, I’m good.
i play gamma burst fl4k and never really messed with the crit build. i never slide or jump and rarely take cover. i’m used to having a turret to stand behind but in this game my turret runs all over the place and acts crazy.
Ah, I see. Well, I’m glad that you’re enjoying the game at your own pace. It’s a big game and not having to play “Inventory Manager” anymore is a relief. Good news for everyone.
I create tons of splitscreen account mules to store extra gear. Often never even trying given gear before it is “archived”. It’s hard though. I don’t know if I’ll see a given combo of loot again so I nab it and store it. And I haven’t maxed out all 4 characters yet. So once I max out the next guy I’ll browse for a bit and look for stuff I think my newly level 50 chars will like.
I also frequently ignore element matching. Amara makes it a little easier to skip that step, honestly. Except bosses and badasses. There I definitely match up.
I know I do other weird stuff. Can’t think of it right now.
Oh. On sliding. I definitely use that when I’m in the midst of a harder struggle and I’m trying to be as evasive as possible. Really cool watching projectiles zoom overhead.
almost never using pet attacks unless I have a gun for lifesteal after commanding them. i forget they exist is all lol
