imageOk, so a while back I noticed that Solus, the last star holds a striking resemblance to the shards we pick up and use as currency in the game is. Now I’m not completely sure what this could mean, maybe shards are leftovers from old stars and they have properties that help in technology or something. This would mean that the Varelsi aren’t just putting out the stars but harvesting them for shards. Idk really, tell me what you think.

Well I definitely like the idea. And being this is the aztanti system I’m sure there’s a connection there

I think they’ve said shards are the result of the process of absorbing stars that puts out a certain type of energy that reacts with certain materials on planets to form shards, so they’re indirectly caused by rendain absorbing stars. I might be wrong though.

As stars are put under duress in a Darkening process, they exude waves of energy which coalesce into plasmite crystals (aka “shards”) when they pass through certain particles or atmospheres. These shards are highly charged with energy, and therefore, are prized where resources are low.
