Thoughts On 4 Times XP Weekend?

I think 4 days of quad XP is too much.

I’ve come to realize that I really enjoy leveling charactes up at the “natural” pace.

Taking a character naturally from 1-15 in PVP will let you get a firm grasp of that character and complete most, if not all, of that character’s lore, if you use all their abilities, over dozens of matches.

With Quad XP, you can go from just hit level 12 to just beneath level 14 in A SINGLE MATCH.

However, I have been at level 100 for months and have the luxury to play this game for just under 500 hours so far.

That being said, I bet player numbers have gone up this weekend, between quad XP and the Lootpacalypse, and I certainly have not only been using my Mastered toons as I peomised myself I would LOL.

What do you guys think?

I thought Quad XP was only for USA Thursday to Friday and stopped when Lootpocalypse started?

@djillusions

They extended it through the weekend.

I think its great for people who want to be through the character-completion in little time, but its nothing for me.

I even avoided playing during the last XP-events to have more content to grind for over a longer time. And most chars I mastered so far are mastered by title, but I did not master their playstyle yet. For this I need time, not EXP.
If I´d have the Master-title in 4 matches it would feel dull to me…much farmed EXP but very little actual experience.

When I´d master all my toons over the weekend I´d be just bored until the DLCs hit^^

Loot tough, loot is another story

I’m taking advantage of it as much as I can, since I only have about 5 characters up to 15. Too many other things to do!

Must of seemed like a win/win/win/win/win for gearbox on the drawing board.

Attract people to the game this weekend, retain some more as the feeling of accomplishment washes over others. Then there’s the higher levels now showing up in the match ups. Less low-levels = less disconnects = less people complaining about bad match ups = a quiet evening for a change.

There’s also the promise of getting people to play new characters outside of their comfort zone, stir the stagnancy of the pool as it were.

It has some long term draw backs, but we’re kind of at the point where even a bandaid is necessary.

Thanks for the info guys! Good thing I commented else wouldn’t have known as I’ve only been doing private story this weekend.

Yes, I have to agree that the positives of this situation far outweigh aby negatives!

What? They extended it? I think this is a terrible idea. The quicker I hit the cap on things, the less I wanna play. Honestly, why did they think putting a cap on progress was a good idea and why do they continue to push you to that cap faster and faster with these events?

I was excited about the lootpocalypse until I realized I have nearly every drop legendary from the last lootpocalypse. What I want is faction legendaries and cosmetics, but the drop rates are abysmal.

Personally, I’d rather have an extension on the lootpocalypse if for nothing more than the discounted packs. However, with this 4x XP thing happening, I’ll be avoiding the game all together.

There’s too many other games to play anyway.

If you’re interested, they said they are planning to increase the cap. Not use by how much or anything, but welp. When I say this, I mean soon. Possibly in the next patch or the one after that. I read it on reddit. They won’t be implementing prestigious or something until their next wave of DLC though, which depends on the success of the game (so uhh, I’m not expecting much tbh)

Their DLC Plan from August says DLC2 will come before the end of the year. I think I can hang in until October and am hoping DLC1 will keep me interested until December.

The first two seem to be coming in short order, so you won’t need to worry

@AttnDefDis

This.

So much this.

But, I think us hardcore types need to just be grateful for the new blood and interest this “free CR, character rank and loot this weekend!” players that this will bring in.

I’m doing the exact opposite, heh.

I’m using the 4x xp to complete a bunch of characters so I can freely play any character without feeling like I ‘should’ be playing a character that isn’t max level yet (it’s just the way my brain works - completion it’s mentality). I’m opening up all the mutations so I can really get a feel for the character and what they can do. Whiskey is a great example of a character where I fin mutations really change the way I would have/do play him.

I’m not gonna lie, it will be nice after this weekend to FINALLY play my level 15 / Mastered characters again simply because THAT’S HOW THEY ALL WILL BE!

However, not seeing any increase ever again for who knows how long on Command / Character Rank will make me sad!

EDIT: Thread title changed.

Really I’m just leveling up characters I hardly use, completing some of their Lore Challenges along the way

Having got a couple more characters up to 15 (and a few more really close), I’ll simply comment that there’s still the lore to unlock on all of them. Being at character rank 15 makes that a bit easier in many cases, though, since it unlocks the centre helix choices. Still a ton of play-time to go, anyway.
