So, I’m curious, what are you doing now, since you aren’t farming for gear?
Would I like another 2 or 3 skill points? Sure but I don’t want another level cap increase. It’s not a I hate farming it’s a this game is already messed up enough in other areas I would rather the figurative fires put out before we added more levels.
If it was up to me and I just had to give more skill points I would say add 3. The way to get them: 1.) Beat true maliwan takedown on M10. 2.)Beat true Guardian Takedown on M10 OR all the proving grounds and slaughtershafts (bias alert I hate guardian takedown and wouldn’t cry if it was nixed). 3.) Beat what’s it name the varkid raid boss on M10. You only get the skill point the first time you complete the criteria and only once each character so no double dipping in TVHM.
I completely disagree with you.
Based on your name, OP, I’m tempted to assume you’re just trolling, because WHY would you want the level cap raised? You’d level up in an hour, refarm gear and get bored again, so what does it add? And everyone has to sacrifice their time-resticted gear they farmed for at Halloween and Valentines, plus possibly their cartel loot, so you can have fun farming the same stuff again? Moronic. If you really wanted to farm again, that badly, why not just sell all your gear and go ahead?
But assuming this was a genuine suggestion, what would you want it raised to? People hated the constant small increases, so probably a big amount, like 10-15? But too many skill points ruins build diversity (as has been mentioned), so probably a small amount like 3-5? Either way is gonna piss a lot of people off and probably drive even more players away, so what amount do you want?
Experiment with builds or search for different dialogue in the game. And I still do farm for gear.
The only way I’d accept a level cap raise, would be with the addition of a truly difficult UVHM, and a fifth skill tree for each vault hunter.
If that were the case, a level cap hike of exactly 11 points would be ideal.
I would also want it to be concurrent with the cartel event so I could get max level versions of the cartel weaponry.
Frankly, given the imminent release of the cartels event and the relative proximity of Wonderlands, I do not see this happening.
So, TL;DR: Hard NO.
He’s just trolling.
Quick, better retract my opinion.
You’re all like,
Aragorn: Gentlemen, we do not stop till nightfall.
Pippin: What about a level 70?
Aragorn: …?
Merry: Don’t think he’s heard of level 70, Pip.
Pippin: What about 72? 75? OP Levels? Mayhem 12? He’s heard about them, hasn’t he?
Merry: Wouldn’t count on it.
But I’m more like,
Bilbo: No thank you! We don’t want any more level caps, skill points or refarming of weapons.
Gandalf: And what about a brand new playable character?
Bilbo: Gandalf? My dear, Gandalf…
I agree. 4 trees and only 65 skill points is hugely disproportional. BL2 went up to 80 with only 3 trees. Use save editors to pump your gear up to the new level - it’s not cheating, you’ve already earned the loot.
BL3 is dying. Remember that feeling when you got your first yellowcake? The only way to get close to that again is new weapon class, and re-grind (which isn’t that hard now) for best guns in game. Cartels doesn’t interest me, I came back for the murder mystery new content, they aren’t really giving any new campaign updates now that Tina is in DEV. So with no new content, a level cap increase is our only and best option to keep players on board. There comes a time in a games life where its ok to increase level cap, most people that are going to play this have, newbs will enjoy more divers skill tree mixes, mayhem is boring and shotting a guy 6x as much is time waster,
I speak for the majority here, we are at that time. BL2 did it and it worked out, follow what worked.
Please no…
Doesn’t bl3 normally do a level cap after an event that makes getting good loot easier? Seem to recall thats whats happened previous and if so we are in line for one haha.
Personally would welcome a cap increase at this point.
Temporarily. And I don’t believe that’s an absolute only option.
Like here specifically?
BL2.
So… making the game even easier is the solution?
Right? Chill out guys.
I’m in for a level cap increase… Take us to 72.
A level cap increase would be unnecessary and counterproductive. We’re at a sweet spot allowing for a variety of powerful builds, but they aren’t homogenized like a higher level would lead to.
We need more end game content and special events, not more levels.
We don’t know what they have planned just like we didn’t know what they had planned when commander Liliths showed up on the internet
One of the main issues presented by a level cap increases at this point is the mass refarm. Lots of the people who are still playing have alot of different items for a lot of different builds and activities. Stuff from vault cards, stuff from Diamond Keys, stuff that is now extremely hard to farm with the nurfs to drops and stuff people have spend hours re rolling with eridum to get there ideal anointments. BL3 isn’t the same game it was before we hit level 65 just like it was a different game before Mayhem 2.0 came out.
Now I am not saying there won’t be a level cap increases but you haft to admit there is a fair argument on both sides just like the people who want another revamp to Mayhem mode and the people who don’t.
I honestly believe another level cap increases might be a point of contention among the developers considering the recent addition of Vault cards and the re roll machine. The worst level cap increases they did was the one that dropped shortly after they launched the Maliwan Takedown. A lot of individuals put a ton of time into configuring character to farm the Takedown and then they had to re collect everything from to do the Takedown and everything from the Takedown which is were I personally think a large portion of the semi dedicated players started to put the game down and move on to other games. Regardless of what they do or do not do the game has a fairly small remaining audience considering how many millions of players don’t even play past there first playthrough. Once you are down to the most dedicated players there will be lots of devicive opinions. It is dangerous to assume you speak for the majority on the internet.
Lastly BL2s final level increases didn’t actually inspire the kind of long term play you are insinuating. On steam BL2 spiked for about 12 days after Commander Lilith dropped then dropped off. By the time we got that DLC modding was the main content people were streaming and save sharing was wide spread so people didn’t need to farm the gear they just waited until there favorite youtuber put our a build video. Save sharing/save scumbing is technically against the ToS but it was and possibly is still done by a majority of the PC player base (I am honestly not sure haven’t watched BL3 Youtubers in a minute)
I wouldn’t say BL2s final level increases was without some pains. Personally I hated having level 80 gear on a level 72 character, having OP turned off and being told “have fun leveling while you literally one/two shot everything”
It was honestly a bummer and we just ended up grinding petes bar which wasn’t exactly the most interesting.
Yes. Making characters more powerful allows for more varied builds instead of the streamlined ones people are all using for each character, new build variants will appear and more power is more fun, especially with more levels to climb. Otherwise you are ok letting the player base go. Once you accept no more new content is coming for campaign missions, this is the next best thing.
