What does the “import mesh” checkbox do in the current version? It seems to load a mesh regardless.

Yes, that check box does nothing at the moment. I have an updated version where you can import only the LOD0 mesh (and it contains a load of other fixes as described above), but it needs a little bit more testing before release…

Ok, a new version has been uploaded.

(see first post for installation instructions)

It now copes with RODOH’d dae’s…mostly… Also, dock seg nodes sometimes get lost from their parents for reasons I have yet to pin down…

Perhaps the most useful update is the “merge goblins” option, which merges goblins into LOD[0] if requested.

There are also some spurious problems, like the engine glows for LOD[1] and [2] of the vgr carrier not positioning correctly…

…so there is still work to do!

There is something about RODOH dae files with LOD[1+] engine glows…

It’s hard to tell from this angle, but are those really different LODs and not just different stages? Like this?

The way engine glow works is that there are two or three meshes, so yes you are correct. However there are also different LOD meshes for when the camera is further from the ship. So you might have:

  • engine glow 1 LOD0
  • engine glow 2 LOD0
  • engine glow 1 LOD1
  • engine glow 2 LOD1
