Lv 6 Kelvin’s consume helix is pretty serious.
Man this looks fun! So combination of personal preference and efficacy and just off the top of my head… (Parentheses will be honorable mentions)
Lvl1: Beatrix silence. Pretty self explanatory (vortex, weatherman, persistent projectiles, debuff sunspot, KU bleed bolas)
Lvl2: Swiss cheese. This one was harder to nail as phoebes slow and KU aoe heals where on the same level but the dps increase on such a short cool down skill is pretty ridiculous (Toby’s regen shield, lumberjack blast, slow egg, shield mortars, kelvins chomp mutation)
Lvl3: deft defender. This level is hard because I love so many of the helix options here for everyone and most add awesone utility or functionality to a character. That said I believe an extra 1000 block amount whilst removing the speed penalty on a not slow character who’s built in dr applies to his shield is an incredible no brainier to me (tenacity, sunspot healing, melee lifesteal Beatrix, IDTGA, scopes, reload speed Benny, qm dodges, double taser, deafening applause, bullet banker)
Lvl4: flailing fists. A really hard pick and I might be biased especially with preamble at the same level but I truly think this is it. Flailing fists not only provides a vital knock up to dragons kit but if used correctly can double clothes lines damage which is already reasonably powerful(benes helixes, wet blanket/wave shock, vital protocol, ghalt pull increase, kelvin speedy sub, stun spore/trail, staff slam, flash barrage, calculated risk, catalytic flash, Toby’s slow/stun mine)
Lvl5: Renaissance. Some incredible helixes vie for this spot like heavyweight, killer regen, etc but Renaissance really stands out since it can provide MASSIVE cool down to an easy to aim penetrating death blast so early in the game.( phoebes entire lvl 5, marquis 2 shots to proc passive, pendles smoke bomb cool down on dam, melkas health stacking, thorn bleed arrows, kelvins dam reduction in permafrost, buldors dam reduction and health regen, ambra speed boost, plague rat/double dose, Attikus 35 regen, both tac shell helixes, flight speed and dive bomb)
Lvl6: contingency plan. While napalm and harder working wards are pretty strong on this level I feel like phoebes mutation really stands out as the strongest level 6 helix solely on how much stronger it makes her playstyle(Toby’s fatter rails, kelvins chomp to cool down sub, swamp foot, dragons 20 percent AS increase on splash, homing rockets dam increase)
Lvl7: heartpiercer. For quite awhile I was thinking that marquis reload and AS buff would take this spot and I think it’s even better than go with the flow for Alani. But heartpiercer is hands down the strongest. It turns Toby into the best wave clearer in the game and the helix itself doesn’t rely on his shield to be effective(duct-taped mags, force of will, fireballs, Attikus AS, both barrels blazing, surgical strike, Ernest’s helixes, thorn jump height, Miko AS helix… Come at me bro!)
Lvl8: Windfall. While I think that refined canisters ought to take this spot, melkas venom nerf keeps me from making it number one. Windfalls damage ability combined with hoodinis incredibly low cool down really make it stand out and solidifies marquis insane late blooming potential and beats out other helixes like Bea’s PZ to herself when she hits an ally(pendles smoke bomb CD, orendi CD, blanket mortars, caldy dash distance, lift off shield recharge, Alani bubble helixes)
Lvl9: Death and Axes. While this level competes for absolutely banana helixes like KU stun, pendles injection CD and most of Toby’s level 9 helixes, I find death and axes, while conditional, a grossly powerful survival helix on the hardest to kill battleborn in the game. Which makes the loss of health on death clause laughable (orendi CD, rift pulse time, clothesline lifesteal, marquis slow amp, ghalt hook dam amp, hawkeye dam, cross blade dam increase on smash knock up, Alani riptide duration)
Lvl10: Pillarstorm. While this pick should be much harder than it is considering there are so many fantastic and powerful helixes for ultimate level abilities it just is not. Pillarstorm itself has some of the strongest potential to turn games around before even factoring gear and the renassaince helix. It simply is in a class all its own (reynas bubble that follows her, what shields?, shaurox pull slow, space lasers, cc immune ghalt, big payback, Boldurs whole lvl 10 helixes, Alani slow field, melka venom homing, Miko CD reduction, ambra stun, rath damage amp, Bea’s 3 second stun, deande hologram after ult, Kleese Insta hole, ISICs whole lvl 1, wall hack .exe)
So a couple quick notes: I did this all on my phone by remembering everything the best I could. It took me almost 24 hours to do whilst working my shifts so I apologize for not remembering all the helixes, there names or possibly even misremembering what levels the helixes are at. Still fun though

I based this on what fundamentally would “make or break” a character without it, and/or if the helix choices did something that no basic piece of gear could currently hope to bring to a character. That being said, things like Tenacity teetered on the edge, but ultimately didn’t make it into the Honorable Mentions.
