I’m sure the modders might be able to handle it if gbx don’t so if your on pc its all good. If not tough luck to my console brothers and sisters.

It’s a shame that the community can only offer fixes on 1/3 platforms that this game is on.

it’s at times like that I regret not to have a better pc config

@olivier_shady Not to be too OT, but my Xbone is a little more than 5 years old, so it’s time for a change, and I am very seriously considering making the switch to PC. I moved to console in the late 90s and have not had a gaming PC since that time because I got tired of having a hobby (working on my PC) in addition to my other hobby (gaming). I like the simplicity of the consoles, but I don’t enjoy the performance and feature-stripping that devs and publishers do to optimize for console.

But now with the time I spend loading and save/quitting in BL3, I probably could justify the extra money and time that a PC will take. And in addition there are the benefits that we are not allowed to discuss here. I am kind of on the fence about it but it seems to me that, money aside (because the PC is definitely the more expensive piece of hardware), whatever exclusives you have to sacrifice by not being on console, you benefit tremendously from faster speed and more variety. I am slowly talking myself into this LOL. :joy:

I don’t think the ability to mod should be a big factor in you getting a pc. Just because gbx can’t handle a game well you shouldn’t feel forced to accommodate to them. If you are interested in getting a pc. I’d recommend building it, for the price of a new console it would turn out pretty decent. Also you don’t really miss much in the way of exclusives since all of xbox stuff is on pc. Also pc gets plenty of exclusives like WoW, Age of empires, League of legends, etc.

This is perhaps a little OT, but has anyone played a MNTIS Cannon build Zane? This is everything that I always thought the Rakk build should be. Kind of makes me sad for Fl4k, but damn it is a fun playstyle on Zane.

EDIT: to add that Zane even gets the MNTIS augment we have been asking GBX to give Fl4k since late last year - to make Rakkslag an augment, rather than an anointment. The MNTIS augment “No Way Out” is basically the Scorpion (from Mortal Kombat) hook plus Rakkslag.

I do… he’s a Dahl allegiance, so I don’t use No Way Out (that seems like it’s made for a shotgun build). I did give it a spin to see about yoinking them into the Barrier for a stun from Deterrence Field and maybe some spike damage if I was wearing one of those with Distributed Denial (though I’m not sure if this works). I mostly use Proliferation and Brain Drain.

It is handy for seriously abusing Action Skill Start and Action Skill End anointments, but his default playstyle is to freeze enemies with headshots and Brain Freeze to keep the Barrier up constantly with Calm, Cool, Collected (which means I’m playing at a safe distance, since any ding on my shield will cause that freeze to go to shield repair and not action skill duration reset, and because Dahl). Once frozen, I’ll try to pop them with a crit from the cannon.

@Adabiviak I have been running it with an ASS Frozen Heart and an Ice Breaker Otto Idol with cryo, AOE, and mag size passives (I feel like a Victory Rush would be better, but this is the best passive stats Ice Breaker that I have LOL). The results are hilarious and really, really powerful. It almost doesn’t even matter what weapons you use.

What are the chances that the ENTIRE Trapper tree gets reworked (not just fixed)? I know IF WE ARE LUCKY they’ll just take a lazy approach and do to the Trapper tree what they did to the other trees, but for Fl4k instead of pets. By that I mean they’ll keep the skills as is but add %dmg for Fl4k just like they added Pet dmg across all Fl4k trees.

I’d take that over what we have now BUT I feel that in terms of new and exciting gameplay, the Purple tree won’t provide anything if kept the way it is.

Also I’m hoping there’s a Patch for January. I haven’t picked up the game in a bit and it feels weird.

But I do think Gearbox will make some changes as you described and will add some damage here and there to the purple tree. To their credit (uhh, sort of) Gearbox has made a lot of band-aid fixes to issues that players raised so I think there’s a good chance Flak’s purple tree will get that treatment. Though if they aren’t hearing a lot of fuss about it then maybe it’ll just be left as-is. I could see it going either way tbh, but I’ll actually put my money toward Gearbox doing something about it. Not in a satisfying way obviously, but I think they’ll do the bare minimum to show there is some remaining will to make the game better.

So I have been playing Zane a fair amount lately, because good lord, right now he is a hilariously, higher-than-Sal-and-Krieg, level of OP and it’s just kind of funny.

Maybe some of you said it elsewhere in this thread, but comparing Fl4k and Zane’s purple trees, I need to ask the following:

Can someone please explain to me why Zane’s Eraser skill was not in Fl4k’s purple tree? This is literally about the most synergistic skill they could have given to Fl4k, maybe as like a 2nd or 3rd tier skill? Zane in no way needs this skill or the damage resulting from it. Fl4k really doesn’t either, but it could have created some really interesting inter-tree synergies and more naturally seems like a Fl4k skill anyway. I don’t understand the design decisions they have made with this game. :man_shrugging:t2:

Yeah, not even getting into the MNTS cannon/Rakk Attack mismatch there is a clear case of identity crisis between Pro/Trapper trees.

Not Even A Challenge seems very Zane action skill oriented to me, simply change it from a Pet to Action Skill kill.

^ This.
Gbx somehow gave FL4Ks identity to Zane and bumped it to 11. And then they took the shield tree of Moze (which wasn’t as tanky as Gbx might have thought) and gave it to our VH. But more buggy and even less tanky.
On top of that Gbx fargot to at least take the dmg skills Moze has in her shield tree and give them to FL4K …

Remember when they combined FL4K’s two BEST COM’s, made them both better and gave it to Zane as a crutch instead of simply changing some of his skill mechanics?

Yes, I think of it way too often actually.
I know every BL has had one favorite class that could do it all. And one class that was the balanced one. Think of Wilhelm in TPS. A well-balanced class among overpowered classes. Or Axton compared to Zero, Sal, Krieg.
And ever since they nerfed FL4K early on, starting with GitM and LnT, the feeling grew in me that Gbx wants FL4K to be the Wilhelm of this game.
They accidentally made FL4K stronger than intended, so they nerfed them while Moze and Zane went on a powercreeping spree with no end in sight.

In what world is it ok for one class to be really, really, ridiculously overpowered that all other classes are not even on their radar?

I feel like it’s a double-edged sword. The game is a joke with Zane and Moze right now, and it is fairly trivial with Amara and Fl4k, but at least there is some challenge there. I just want a sneaking chance that I could get overrun and die. But Zane and Moze are so powerful, dying is not even a consideration unless I fall off the map. At least with Fl4k, it’s possible to die if you play poorly. I have not played Amara in a while, but she seems to have dropped back a little bit, to where she appears about even with Fl4k now.

It’s not like I am asking for Dark Souls or something, I would just appreciate the game having a modicum of challenge for veterans.

EDIT: to be clear that my overall point is that, given that GBX’s response to fixing broken stuff just appears to be, “add more dayumage,” I would prefer they leave Fl4k alone rather than make them totally OP like Moze and Zane. At least this would still be one character I could play in the game and have even a minimal challenge without gimping myself intentionally. Hopefully my thoughts make sense.

The issue to me is that GB isn’t hitting the mark with making different difficulties for wide spectrum of players. I want to be as fair as I can to them here. The scaled and true takedowns were a great addition, and 10 mayhem levels should provide some comfortable level of challenge for everyone, yet in reality it doesn’t. Most people either play pre-M5 or just do M10 and 11. Half of the levels at best go unused. A lot of it has to do with Mayhem scaling and M11 pushing players to do the highest tier of mayhem they can, rendering the early ones obsolete.

Whenever there is something challenging for the 1% or vets, it is removed. Look at the GTD event that just removes the possibility of failing crystals. Everyone vet and newbie alike dies a ton to platforming, but most vets have figured out the strats to make crystals manageable. Yet the wipe mechanic is being removed for an event while there is no word on changes to the platforming sections. The original GTD nerf as well was one of the quickest content adjustments they’ve done in the game.

GB has made the game extremely accessible to new players, and that isn’t a bad thing. However, they have also made a concentrated effort to remove content that actually requires min-maxing and theorycrafting. There is very little content left at all for the sake of testing the limits of the top end builds. At least in BL2 and TPS even the meta builds could be challenged by Magic Slaughter or Mutator Lvl 9. The only place in BL3 that can serve in that role is TMTD and GTD, maybe Fervor as well.

The thing that kind of makes me upset with purple is that it delivers everything I personally wanted for pet builds, but only if I actively avoid half of the tree. Beyond Take This, the tree pushes you into no damage pet setups where you just rely on War Loader to kill everything. That is the kind of thing I can’t stand, not because I care how other people play, but because it is still the worst setup of it’s kind for all of the chars. If I wanted to sit back and watch a pet murder everything, Zane and Moze are leagues ahead of FL4K. If I want to babysit a dumb-as-bricks AI and hope it kills things, IC exists. Heck, B A L L fills many of the same niches as attack command builds. There are ways on every char to blow FL4K out of the water in this department.

For gun builds purple is so weak speccing into it actually makes the game harder. Going with a pet build, it just makes it slower and more boring than other chars. Killer Queen is fun, but even that isn’t enough to keep me invested in the game anymore.

Because devs don’t understand their own game, and some people here actually make more sense than them. I will always remember a dev saying they didn’t want to make pets too powerful to not push people into “afk gameplays”, and then boombumr destroying that argument with Fl4k pet’s damage formulas. They’re just so out of touch at this point, no wonder why some dedicated people in this community are moving on.

I cannot believe how insanely out of touch they are with the game, when said afk style already is happening with Clone Zane and Moze’s iron bear. Oh my ■■■■■■■ god!
