So… you don’t really know if what you’re saying is actually true, right!

Since I didn’t read the police report on the incident, I don’t know what happened, or why. And since I’ve never seen anything in his clips that suggest they’re faked, then they’re OK in my book. I didn’t know the guy. Maybe he was a ■■■■■… or maybe not. I don’t care! Some of the thingds that we consider inaccurate in his clips today, were stuff that we simply didn’t know better at the time. Many opinions have changed about a lot of things. Keep that in mind!

The Infinity guide is the most infamous example.

ON TVHM he killed Mercy in such a way that you couldn’t see any any of his drops. When he went to check on it a Level 50 Infinity was lying there, standing perfectly upright.
Problem is, the video was uploaded on Dec. 1st, 2012, long before the patch that fixed his drop rate in TVHM (and UVHM).
There was no mention of that broken drop rate in the video whatsoever, only that it could take a very long time, which is technically true but we are talking about a chance that is less than 0.0001% so he gave false hope to many players who wanted to get an Infinity themselves.

That’s all I am going to say on the matter.

Fact: the infinity was bugged and didn’t drop from Doc Mercy past normal mode before if was fixed.

Fact: he made a fake vid claiming that he got it from Doc Mercy long, long before it was patched.

Knowingly making a fake video and then making money off it (vid has well over a million views) is shady as hell and speaks tons on his character. Then when people called him out on it he calls them jealous liars, says ■■■■ these forums and bans and deletes comments and people from the video.

unless you think he somehow had a miracle drop and recorded it, then go ahead and keep believing he wasn’t a liar, among other things.

Watched the video. Knowing the fact that the Infinity has a drop rate of 1/80 gajillions…

He faked the drop for the Thunderball Fist aswell.

But that aside:
No, he doesn’t deserve one like Mamaril has, Mamaril died of a natural cause.
Yote on the otherhand was driving under influence and killed himself and 2 others by trying to outrun a train.

I’m not going to ellaborate on this since I’ll try to be as polite as possible.

I imagine as long as people are playing BL2 and look something up, some of his vids will come up and hopefully help some people along in the game. That’s more than some mention in a game would do.

tbh, dying of cancer is no reason for an honorific. its sad, but many thousands die this way every day.

He’s immortalized on YouTube with his body of work. Given the circumstances of his death that should be it.

That’s not my point. My point is Mamaril died of natural causes and it was one of his friends who personally asked for the tribute. Mamaril wasn’t responsible for his own death and didn’t take anyone with him. I’m not saying Gearbox should honor every fan who dies of cancer because that’s a more “honorable” way to go. As a matter of fact, even though it was really nice what they did for Mamaril when they did it, I don’t think this type of tribute should be a recurrent thing in every game in the series.

As far as the how or if he faked stuff but considering most of the reputable people both here in the “new” forums and “old” have said it was faked I made the deadly modern sin of assuming. I could watch it and come back if you want me to.

Quite honestly though, to me it wouldn’t be too much of a big deal in the Doc Mercy case since Doc Mercy was supposed to have a higher chance but bugs and stuff gave him the global loot pool chance IIRC. If it were something like KnuckDragger has a higher chance to drop the Bee or other mismatched boss+loot combos then it’d be a much more serious “offense”.

shrug, for all we know marmill could have been quite a bad person, but what mattered was his brother’s feelings for him. yoti had/has a fan base. memorials are not for the dead, but for the living. that is all i have to say on the matter.

It’s worth noting that he died with a blood alcohol content of .206%, over two and a half times the legal limit.
That he was out drinking and driving while having a pending DUI charge from a previous arrest. In his death, he also killed two other people. You can read more from the police report here: http://i.imgur.com/hYIvJp0.png

I do not believe that memorializing such a person would be a good move for any reason, and the potential backlash from such an action could be huge. Personally, I would be very offended if any company was to honor those committing felonies resulting in death in this way. I would probably boycott future products from any company that would do such a thing.

I have to wonder if you’d say that while in the presence of his surviving family. Shout that at his kid if it makes you feel manly.

I don’t particularly care for Yote’s behavior, and think the ‘debate’ over it distasteful, but worse are those that moralilze too terribly over it.

I would say that in front of anyone. Felonies resulting in death aren’t something to sweep under the rug in order to avoid hurting someone’s feelings, and they definitely shouldn’t be memorialized.
