Ever since I started playing TTW I’ve felt pretty nauseous after a few hours of play. In recent days it’s gotten a lot worse where I feel sick for hours after I stop playing
Is this common? Is there a certain setting either in-game or on my TV I can adjust to not feel like I need to vomit after a play session?

I’d appreciate any suggestions as it’s a pretty serious issue. I would hate to not be able to play the game at all for fear of getting extremely sick.

Thank You.

This seems to crop up for some people in pretty much all the Borderlands games. There’s two things I’m aware of: FOV and player character head motion (“head bob”).

FOV definitely can help, so it’s worth playing with that to see what works best for you. Note that it’s effectiveness can vary based on the size of your screen and distance from it.

The head bob setting should be under the Accessibility options. Word of caution though: I remember seeing at least one post indicating that it might not be working properly?

In BL3 if I got hit with the terror effect it would cause nausea. Terror when applied by a ghost would also effect your aim and I think it was this lack of control combined with the terror visual that caused the nausea. I haven’t experienced it in TTW but there are ridiculous visual effects as well. If I’d known how bad it was I wouldn’t have bought the game.

I have a 60” tv and sit about 5 feet from the TV since I have pretty bad vision issues.
What FOV would be best? Also would sensitivity settings also affect me?

Thanks for the replies so far.

A bit difficult to give numbers since it is rather individual. I have a similar sized screen but sit further back and my personal FOV is set a bit wider than the game default. Too wide, and the curvature at the edges gets to my; to narrow, and I feel like I can’t see enough.

Very likely, yes. A really high sensitivity means the view changes rapidly, except you physically are not moving at all, and that disconnect can trigger motion sickness. This actually interacts with FOV as well. I’ve found that if the FOV is wide enough to cause obvious curvature at the edges I have to lower the sensitivity. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to look up my settings in BL3 right now, but it’s probably best to try and find your own comfort zone. From memory, mine are something like 100 FOV and 50% on the look sensitivity sliders?

I appreciate your time. Thank you. I’ll fiddle more with the FOV and sensitivity.

I wouldn’t know about Wonderlands specifically, but I had the same issue with the Spyro Remastered trilogy on PC. I am prone to motion sickness, but not usually that bad. Thought I was having a migraine after 1 hour playing Spyro.

The fix ended up being turning off motion blur.

Hopefully there’s some things you can adjust in the settings to either turn off motion blur or mitigate it.

Alright, so it turns out Wonderlands does in fact have options regarding motion blur.
Pause the game, go to options.
Under options, go to advanced options (the two gears).
Down at the bottom in the post processing section, there are 2 options regarding motion blur. Try turning both off.
If this helped, let us know. Or, if you figured out a different solution. You never know who might need that information in the future. Everyone deserves to be able to play their games without risking personal injury.

Thanks. I’ll definitely try it out when I can and report back with the findings. Appreciate all the help from everyone!

I get bad motion sickness if I do an extra-large hit from my bong… I’ll be playing, then the nausea hits…lol…

Max out FOV.
Lower your graphics settings to get yor FPS up.
Is there a headbob setting? Can’t remember… If there is, set it to the lowest possible.

I have a problem with motion sickness in many games.

Apparently I don’t have those options on my ps4. I’m trying everything else here

I get enough motion sickness from most first person games that I find them unplayable.

What I do:
Set FOV to max.
Consider moving closer to the screen. Seems counter-intuitive, but can help.
Don’t play split-screen.
Make sure you keep the central targeting reticule on at all times (I think this is there by default).

Those changes are enough for me to play all day without problems. Good luck.

Also, you may need to adjust your frame rate. When the game first launched; whenever I opened the social menu, the frame rate would drop significantly, and lag. This caused nausea instantly!
