in BL3 i had many things i could do but it was to easy
in TTWL i have not much to do but i can still increase the difficulty if needed
the DLC’s aren’t helping at all… first boss is just boring and the “new” chaos chambers don’t make chaos runs less boring. just boring in a new environment
didn’t even bother with the 3 stages of the first DLC untill the second one arived. and with the weekly release of the new gear (appart from offline) there’s even less incentive to actualy play the DLC. only thing i can think of is collecting souls so you can use the wheel of fate (but it’s just sooooo boring)
a shame because they did a great job on the weapons this time around (if this weapon and difficulty system would be implanted in BL3 i would actualy play it again)
So basically launch BL3: Mayhem 1.0 when guns didn’t scale with your Mayhem mode and Mayhem 3 was only for more challenge with sightly better chance to get anointed items.
Got a OPQ pretty fast and everything went down hill after that.
Then people started saying they couldn’t find enough legendaries and increased drop rates even further. That led to people complaining that legendaries didn’t do enough damage and only a few where viable wich led to ever increasing numbers. In the end they gave people a few items in the last 2 DLC that where even more insane.
When i killed wotan within 30 seconds i just left the game and haven’t bothered again.
Now in TTWL, having fun testing builds and guns (some more powerful then others) but not much content to run them through. The DLC/PLC don’t have any replay value (first one you literally have to sit there for a few minutes. Second one you can pretty much ignore everything)
Not even the option to do the main story over at max level and max chaos.
And there’s so many things they could do with the chaos chamber (boss only run, raid boss run,…)
Hopefully we’ll be getting some decent content after the season pass.
Sale prices of other releases is not really a valid comparison as those are full games, old now and massively reduced - also, not everyone will like them.
All I’m saying is you can’t even buy a coffee and a roll or do many things for that price. They’ve been making and running Borderlands games just fine for over a decade now - I think they know how to do this - so wait and see, eh?
A shame this game went down hill so quickly. I noticed a few popular youtubers went back to BL2 already and on twitch its pretty much empty on there as well.
Gearbox didn’t expect this type of reception the game has gotten. They thought it was a one hit wonder but people want more. Don’t know if they will do anything about it at this point but if they don’t then it will be a massive fail on there part. The audience and fanbase along with the players are there. They need to do something else to keep people coming back to the game instead of mirror mini bosses. Everyone is calling on them to do more. Lets only hope they listen.
Not to mention BL2 had Lynchwood which was also a completely optional area which had a subplot of side missions leading up to taking Nisha down (hell even that was more content than the mirrors heh.)
I suspect you’re right about this. By all accounts Wonderlands sold a lot better than they anticipated. With their initial sales expectations it’s possible they didn’t want to invest a lot of time and money upfront creating four lengthy campaign DLCs if there wasn’t going to be a large enough player base to sell them to.
But that said I’m still disappointed (haven’t even bothered to start the second one yet), as I guess I’m another one of those players who just assumed the DLC would be like previous Borderlands DLC and I just kinda glossed over the wordage Gearbox used in describing the season pass.
Thing is that its an example of games. While you may have played them not everyone has. With games heavily discounted players could try games they have not played.
Me bring up discounted games is more to provide examples of entertainment that can be bought for that.
Based on BL3 and TTW to date, I’m not sure why various posters here are expecting great new content, that just hasn’t released yet? It would be a good thing, but don’t hold your breath.
That doesn’t make it more likely. Borderlands has often had side areas not connected to the main story. I think what’s more likely is someone pushing from the top to sell dlc even if they had to rush it, make something small, and even over charge for it. So I don’t blame all of gearbox for the wonderlands dlc. Someone there certainly knew this was a bad idea.
I broke down the price. Xbox version. I only had to spend $20 more than the min version I would get ($70 for the xbox series X version, $90 for the version that includes the dlc too). An extra class has fairly been sold by them before for about $10. So, for me the mirror chambers cost me about $10. So it’s kind of ok. But also not. We’ve certainly gotten more bang for our buck before. I think the mirror chambers are worth about 1$ to 2 $ each. Like headhunter dlc. So, the season pass could have cost $10 to $15 and while people would still complain it wouldn’t be nearly as unanimous.
Fallacious logic though as second hand will beat anything else every time: like for like and in the same time frame too (before someone brings up DLC from a decade ago) My fault I suppose for stating what I meant under too broad a word as entertainment. More specifically I was suggesting you can’t do much else for that price such as buy a burger and fries (and not a cheap and nasty McDs) or a cinema ticket; that kind of thing - all gone in a few minutes or two hours, no repeat value.
