[ttwl] issue losing save data

i was wondering if anyone else has had an issue with save data. ive spent already since launch 17 hours in game playing just to sign in today to lose all progress ive made the day before. has any one else had this issue? if so how did you correct it? im using epic game store to launch i dont know if that would be the issue but it sure is frustrating.

Is it completely starting from scratch, or is it just the quest list suddenly showing up empty as described (with workaround) here?

i played to level 6 friday night, then yesterday i spent pretty much all day playing got to level 23. now i logged in today and im back to level 6 again. what sucks is i did pretty much every side quest as i was progressing trhough the story and with how big the maps are id hate to do everthing again.

I haven’t had this problem in this game (yet, knock on wood) but in a few other games I have. For me it ended up being Norton Antivirus blocking save file access. Most recently Dying Light 2. It was due to it being a new game. I made exceptions for the save folders and solved the problem.

nap42585’s point is a good one - there have been multiple instances reported of both Windows Defender and 3rd party AV (BitDefender etc) locking the save file folder so that nothing is kept from session to session. Epic’s cloud save thing has been iffy in the past as well, but I don’t know what it’s current status is.

You can check the permissions on both the individual files and the save games folder easily enough through the Windows file browser:

Documents\My Games\Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands\Saved\SaveGames

You should also be able to check the antivirus folder exclusions: Windows 10 & 11 - Add an exclusion to Windows Security

If those aren’t the problem and you think it might be Epic’s cloud save, make sure you back up your game saves onto a USB or separate folder on your drive.

The other thing I’ve seen reported on occasion is OneDrive mapping your documents folder to the cloud, but the game/client still using an absolute path name. That can also result in things getting over-written with older versions when OneDrive tries to sync to your local computer.

thank you for the tip!! somehow the cloud save through epic overwritten my device save but i was able to restore it going through my folders. thank you again lol i was almost done with the story and didnt even realize it! im so glad i got it back.

I’ve got this issue too. How to take the save file back coz i’ve spent many hours playing on it. Thk u in advance

I face this issue too. How can i rescue the save file?

if your on pc what i did was restored my save by going to documents, then to my games, then you click on tiny tinas wonder lands, then i clicked on saves and restored my save from the one listed and i got all my progress back. i cant say its a guarantee but thats what worked for me hope it works for you too.

You select the lastest save file?

none of this solved my problem. the box to “restore” is grey

If you have Windows incremental backups enabled, you can right-click on a folder and see if there’s an earlier version you can restore to. I don’t know how the Epic cloud sync system works.

is there a way to fix/get saved files back from OneDrive?

You’d need to check whether or not OneDrive was enabled on your account, and whether or not it was syncing between your local and remote drives. I generally have OneDrive turned off on my systems and only use it via the web interface, so I can’t give you specifics. There should be a step-by-step guide in MS’s support knowledge base though - a Google search should get you close.

For me so far it’s just be the quest list.

I also lost about 10 hours of progress last night, logged out at lvl 24 and logged in the next day to find myself several missions back and only lvl 16.
