Is this why fire dots are ripping through my shield and health?

Basically when I get fire dotā€™d I need to heal immediately or Iā€™m going into ffyl. My rocketeer is giving me +4 into FitSD

FitSD can kill you, anytime, anywhere. The higher the skill, the faster you go into FFYL.

ā€œTorgue cross-promotionā€ on top of that adds a chance FitSD would double radius, possibly killing you even when you try to keep safe distance.

The DoTs themselves are not so good on enemies, thatā€™s why most players stay out of FitSD.
