Since you’re throwing me off with this challenge, and I’ve been craving some Hellborn Krieg, I thought I’d do a run with him since he was one of the 2 you asked for. I might do a melee run too if I feel like it later. Gear, build, and BAR are at the end.

  • Never have I missed Thrill of the Kill so much
  • Enjoy my 10 Krieg FPS
  • And enjoy the occasional awkward moment where I have to wait for my shield, since I don’t have Embrace the Pain

Well then… :open_mouth:. I thoroughly enjoyed this indeed! I’m sorry to have thrown you off with this challenge. I hope it hasn’t been burdensome for you. That’s why I’ve tried to thank you guys as much as possible, because I am very much aware you don’t HAVE to help me with this. Seriously though thanks for posting this video! Hellborn Krieg is by far one of my favorite ways to play him, and was one of my 1st builds I used when I first played him. This video with the challenge’s stipulations further show how tightly built Kreig is as a character and just how powerful the Hellborn build really is. I wonder if it holds up against machines? Either way I really look forward to seeing the Melee stuff you come up with if you do post it. I’m not very good at it and you seem pretty proficient here. Also I didn’t know you had a Youtube channel?! You’ve earned yourself a new subscriber!

Oh… Sorry :. Lol. I’ll scale it back some. I’m just finally glad to have some helpful input that’s all. I’ve been working on some of this stuff since the UPC was 1st announced. But I read you. I’ll play it cooler. :sunglasses:

No no no you’re fine as you are, you just don’t meet people with outlooks like you and @Kurtdawg13 have all that often. Keep it up if that’s what comes naturally.

  • I’m pretty happy with it except the one time I activated BxR and Krieg didn’t pull out his axe at 6:50, but that’s not my fault

Really? I didn’t know that? It does come natural to me though, simply because I don’t get help all that often with things, and I can be kinda meticulous about stuff I’m working on so that’s my way of offsetting things. Either way WOW! Bloodshot doesn’t stand a chance against melee Kreig! Is there anyway that you could post your build whenever you get a chance? I’d like to reference it. Also where you able to test it out against machines? I can’t remember, but I think they have an additional resistance to melee attacks, but I’m not sure. As far as the build itself goes, you delivered the goods as usual! Thanks again. Oh and fun little side note I was listening to the song “Superbeast” by Rob Zombie when I saw your video, and I never turned the song off as the video was going. Check that song out if you’re not familiar and you’ll see why I kept it playing while watching you destroy as Krieg.

@Lammas Yeah I totally understand. I HATE Candlerakk’s Crag so much! The map is purely decorative. Everything looks the same and it’s hard to navigate! Did you at least get the Hydra from killing Rouge? Lol. Anyways were you able to kill Vorac? If not that’s totally okay. I think you killing Vorac with the stipulations of this challenge would be closer to proving a case of how “overpowered” a character is versus their regular utility. Thanks you so much for yours and Khimerakiller’s efforts. You guys were integral to this process and I can’t thank you enough.

Yeah melee is non-elemental, so I believe it does 20% less to armor, but I haven’t actually tested it.

  • I’ll see if I can do a short run with robots.

No, I attempted it again later but I need to build a higher CA stack with no kunai as I ran out of ammo.

Well, I mean, I’m trying to utilize a totally broken combination of gear (white turtle + survivor) for constant health gating while trying to abuse an exploit in a powerful skills design (CA stacking through death abuse). That’s hardly regular utility :smiley:

Didn’t forget this time! And again, enjoy the occasional dull moment where I’m just running around because a tesla loader put it’s shield up with a bull loader (and friends!) inside. And I accidentally pressed BxR too early one time, but you’ll see Krieg has so much health that it doesn’t matter.

@Lammas Is see you point. Lol. Well you have done a fantastic job! I hope it has been somewhat fun testing playing with the stipulations of this challenge. I could imagine it might have changed the way you play somewhat. I’d be curious for your input. Has playing this challenge been helpful at all? How do you feel about the stipulations?

@khimerakiller Another full proof that Melee Krieg is not to be toyed with! Man you’re a beast! Your videos have been such a delight to watch, simply because they’re just awesome case studies on how well constructed Kreig is as a character. Thanks again for posting these videos. I totally agree with Kurtdawg13, you are a true community badass! All I have to ask now is have you enjoyed playing under these stipulations? Has playing this challenge changed the way you play or build your characters? Lastly how does it feel to be a true Community Badass? :smile:

@Kurtdawg13 I completely agree. Lammas and Khimerakiller have helped me tremendously with their input, and have done so consistently. I feel like they’ve both earned Community Badass status. You’re making me all flustered here.

Actually the mobbing part wasn’t so different for me at all and in some situations it was actually better than my usual build. I regularly play a hybrid with a legendary ninja. Loss of followthrough is the most noticeable change but instead I get more reload, faster swaps and more deception. And I don’t need the ninja because I don’t have backstab or execute within the challenge anyway. That’s the reason I’m carrying a Triquetra so I can try using that as a OSOK tool out of deception on those big baddies that aren’t in the middle of all the action.

Pimpernels are my favorite tools on Zer0 and as a regular hybrid player the only real changes to it’s power came from losing AOWTG and CA. It’s not that big of a deal although I did notice having more troubles in the run, jump and hipfire situations which I’d imagine came from losing Precicion and AOWTG accuracy bonuses (those are really only noticable on snipers when hipfiring anyway). Without CA it was also always on the same powerlevel but that’s not too noticable change from my usual thing. I also played this challenge with BAR off and I was kind of surprised how little that seemed to affect things.

There are enemies I really missed having backstab + execute on. That goddamn legendary jet loader loot midget for example. Or the last 2 assassins in Southpaw.

At the end of the day I’d say it was very manageable but I am using one of the most powerful guns in the game as my main tool. Also, I don’t think I have the energy to try for Vora anymore. I’m sure it’s doable but the process is not fun and even though I only did 3 tries out of which 1 ended up actually in a fight it was not fun for me so I’m not going to force myself into that again.

Dragon’s and Terra are something I never touched and I think both of those are something I’d rather not take a Zer0 without both CA and Kunai into.

It was surprisingly fun, actually. It’s been ages since I’ve done any self impairing challenges and this seemed pretty interesting. I might even end up going for a campaign reset main story clear like this.

Also, sorry I don’t have videos. I tried recording something but my piece of crap ages old PC can’t handle that (or at least not with OBS, what do other people use?).

I used to use NVidia’s Shadowplay but it seemed to be responsible for crashing my system a couple times - so I now use the new XBox recorder that’s part of the new version of Windows 10 ( Fall Creator’s Update ). It records at a lower resolution ( but still good enough for YouTube ) and seems to work well.

When you’ve been playing Borderlands for as long as I have, you sorta need a game within a game within a game to really get the juices flowing for more than a few hours. And challenges like your’s, Adabiviak’s assassin challenge, various ones from boombumr, etc… are very fun every once and a while, so long as I like their premise enough.

Challenge’s like these also get bonus points because they give me an excuse to make a video.

I already knew how big Bloodsplosion is to melee Krieg, and I knew he didn’t really gain anything after the level 61 cap, so that wasn’t really a shock to the system.

But like I said before, Thrill of the Kill was surprisingly missed a lot. I’m lazy (especially since I’ve been playing this game for so long) so if my weapon can proc Fuel the Blood, I like to use the Rough Rider so I don’t have to give a damn if I go into FFYL. But it is almost impossible to use the RR without it or Moxxi weapons. Elemental Empathy just simply isn’t enough.

It feels good, and I think it’s a really good pro from this symbiotic relationship I have with these forums.

Since I have an Intel graphics card, I have this “lovely” Bandicam, and it even puts a “pretty” watermark at the top of all your videos. In all seriousness it’s not the best, but it doesn’t take a lot to run, it’s free, and it’s easy to use.

I assume you don’t have a Nvidia or AMD graphic’s card either?

Sorry for the very late response. If you’re still interested this challenge differs from the last. You play the OP level up to OP8 if you like and you CAN use those last 22 skill points. I was implying to be the Ultimate Baddass you can still use OP gear and play OP levels, BUT not spend those last 22 points.
