It’s just a video game, if you’re that frustrated go and take a break. The devs know that most players would like a lobby and the multiplayer is officially in a beta phase. There is nothing more you can say or do about it.

Now can we please drop this lobby subject and get back to topic? Insults and constant moaning will not help anyone nor anything improve.

‘Harrowing’? I mean what the heck man, a home invasion robbery is harrowing. Being assaulted is harrowing. In what twisted universe is having to wait for a patch ‘harrowing’?

I hope to never understand how a mind that thinks that works.

Actually, pointing out obvious flaws is the ONLY way to get things to change. Gearbox clearly felt the half finished SP was ok to release, and branding a poor MP experience as a BETA and then subsequently ignore it is acceptable. The reason that so many devs in the gaming industry get away with releasing half baked products is because people just sit back and allow it to happen. Quite frankly, I’m done paying money for half of a product and spending time in a game that doesn’t work. You are actively supporting devs behaviour with your ‘Oh lets keep quiet, it won’t make a difference anyway’ attitude. I’m done with it. Gearbox, remastered is currently UNACCEPTABLE.

The problem is the time it takes them to patch it. Way too long. No successful game out there took months to get a patch going, no one is going to wait that long. Let’s say they get the MP balance working somehow, only the hardcore fans will return to check it, others stopped caring. I remember the AOE2 HD launch being a mess too, but they were updating the game once a week, otherwise that game would have been dead too.
Why cant they just release a quick patch that only lets you play HW1 races in MP. Because if you tell the other players not to pick H2 races, they wont listen.
And whats that flop selecting game type “Homeworld 1 deathmatch”? One is still able to select H2 races. Whats the catch?

You need to work on your empathy, people get passionate about all kind of things. just get over it.

The only difference I noted is that it limits the map selection to the specific game, HW1 deathmatch, only HW1 maps show, HW2 deathmatch only HW2 maps.

I should also mention that currently only HW2 maps are any good for full games though because the HW1 maps have the asteroid hit box issue, they get in the way of anything above a frigate, and sometimes even the frigates.

That is a very serious personal attack and I do not appreciate it in the least.

If you think Jim was giving you a personal attack, you have never had a personal attack.

Gearbox have already given up on this game. They couldnt even be bothered to import HW1 flight AI, something that had to be modded in on day 3 by a community member. Forgetting balance, assault frigs and corvs dont even face their targets when they’re told to shoot them. Corvs fly away in fighter passes instead of straffing and assault frigates often face completly the wrong direction! They also have a habit of completly missing anything larger than a resource collector. Remastered need putting in a box and burying.

I just don’t understand. It feels as though good questions and valid points are ignored. People just want to see what they want to see.

To break it down simply, how an a MP chat lobby hurt the MP community? How can better communication be a terrible idea or not seriously worth considering?

On a side note, I don’t see any personal attacks. Give me a break. Either keep with the rather civil and passionate discussion or don’t involve yourself.

So wait, yours isn’t a personal attack because what I said is?

What?

Boing… flip  another masterfull return…

Indeed HW1 behavior has been attempted by Mod groups - without much actual success. We know this because, counter to your ridiculous assertion, we have not stopped working, and have been working very hard to address exactly the issues required to rebuild (some) HW1 mechanics. You appear to be an infrequent visitor/poster - so your perspective probably lacks information. If you feel as though Remastered needs to be buried, I urge you to do so at your earliest convenience and stop posting on these boards. Your view is neither productive nor appropriate on these boards (where I live and can post). Your opinions are your own, enjoy them, but your tone is unnecessary.

Any tentative date for a patch release @BitVenom ? next couple of weeks ? before the month is out ?

were all pretty much talking in circles at the moment, so any…and I mean any information you could throw our way would be appreciated by us all… of that I’m sure

The next patch (with a ton of small and ‘prep for big stuff’ changes) is coming very, very soon. I can’t provide exact timing info. I stopped working on it (aka in QA/review) last week. I’ve moved on to a slew of things, prototyping some new UI, RODOH/HODOR bugs, new features/tweaks, prep for ‘HOD 2.0’, etc. Plus I am moving at the end of this month to actually be at Gearbox proper (I’ve been in upstate NY for the past 2 years) - so this month will be a bit slower on my end.

I’m most geeked for people to see the Cursor skin feature - I wanted it in there very badly, so I hammered on it one night - and I’m really happy with the results. It’ll make Mods with sets of skins (like per-race, etc) really easy, and stuff like bigger/smaller cursors or ‘new vs classic’ stuff - all super simple.

I was offended that you suggested Jim is from some twisted alternate universe. What kind of world do we live in where one can just accuse someone of being from a different place from literally everything everyone everywhere knows and get away with it?

Two big problems I see with the steam groups acting as a lobby are there is no quick way to find and get to them, and there is nothing in the game that leads to them. What are the chances of you utilizing that little news update box in the steam game launcher that comes up to point to the official HWR group, or adding a button on the launcher that takes you to that group chat in one click? Big ass button that says LOBBY, right above the connect to shift multiplayer?

It’s not the same as an actual lobby, but maybe a stop gap?
