That is a very serious personal attack and I do not appreciate it in the least.

If you think Jim was giving you a personal attack, you have never had a personal attack.

Gearbox have already given up on this game. They couldnt even be bothered to import HW1 flight AI, something that had to be modded in on day 3 by a community member. Forgetting balance, assault frigs and corvs dont even face their targets when they’re told to shoot them. Corvs fly away in fighter passes instead of straffing and assault frigates often face completly the wrong direction! They also have a habit of completly missing anything larger than a resource collector. Remastered need putting in a box and burying.

I just don’t understand. It feels as though good questions and valid points are ignored. People just want to see what they want to see.

To break it down simply, how an a MP chat lobby hurt the MP community? How can better communication be a terrible idea or not seriously worth considering?

On a side note, I don’t see any personal attacks. Give me a break. Either keep with the rather civil and passionate discussion or don’t involve yourself.

So wait, yours isn’t a personal attack because what I said is?

What?

Boing… flip  another masterfull return…

Indeed HW1 behavior has been attempted by Mod groups - without much actual success. We know this because, counter to your ridiculous assertion, we have not stopped working, and have been working very hard to address exactly the issues required to rebuild (some) HW1 mechanics. You appear to be an infrequent visitor/poster - so your perspective probably lacks information. If you feel as though Remastered needs to be buried, I urge you to do so at your earliest convenience and stop posting on these boards. Your view is neither productive nor appropriate on these boards (where I live and can post). Your opinions are your own, enjoy them, but your tone is unnecessary.

Any tentative date for a patch release @BitVenom ? next couple of weeks ? before the month is out ?

were all pretty much talking in circles at the moment, so any…and I mean any information you could throw our way would be appreciated by us all… of that I’m sure

The next patch (with a ton of small and ‘prep for big stuff’ changes) is coming very, very soon. I can’t provide exact timing info. I stopped working on it (aka in QA/review) last week. I’ve moved on to a slew of things, prototyping some new UI, RODOH/HODOR bugs, new features/tweaks, prep for ‘HOD 2.0’, etc. Plus I am moving at the end of this month to actually be at Gearbox proper (I’ve been in upstate NY for the past 2 years) - so this month will be a bit slower on my end.

I’m most geeked for people to see the Cursor skin feature - I wanted it in there very badly, so I hammered on it one night - and I’m really happy with the results. It’ll make Mods with sets of skins (like per-race, etc) really easy, and stuff like bigger/smaller cursors or ‘new vs classic’ stuff - all super simple.

and Good luck with the big move. :car:

I was offended that you suggested Jim is from some twisted alternate universe. What kind of world do we live in where one can just accuse someone of being from a different place from literally everything everyone everywhere knows and get away with it?

Two big problems I see with the steam groups acting as a lobby are there is no quick way to find and get to them, and there is nothing in the game that leads to them. What are the chances of you utilizing that little news update box in the steam game launcher that comes up to point to the official HWR group, or adding a button on the launcher that takes you to that group chat in one click? Big ass button that says LOBBY, right above the connect to shift multiplayer?

It’s not the same as an actual lobby, but maybe a stop gap?

Sounds like you need a long jump core for your move. Good luck!

Productive feedback and constructive thinking are supposed to aid in the continued development. We should say something about it or otherwise important features and ideas would go unnoticed or not given the notice they deserve.

Talking about Steam integration in general, in retrospective sight seeing the falling usage numbers, I would say it was a strategical mistake to focus soleley on Steam as platform … the currently cut out & retro focussed gog.com audience would have been rabid about a serious HW release for them.

This has been brought up in the past, unfortunately the multiplayer requires steam integration. I’ve run into similar decisions made in other games as well. From what I understand it’s a pretty big reduction in workload to make use of steam to help facilitate multiplayer. I mean I can understand why for a game that has no micro-transaction model that can support its own servers to go with steam but it does kinda suck.

To be fair it’s still early days. I don’t remember there being talk about a physical copy sales ever being in the pipeline (apart form the CE obviously) but since they got a publisher to fund it they are doing a physical release as well. If it’s popular enough who knows. There’s steam sales too, isn’t the summer sale coming up soon? Would that be too soon for a sale for HWR?

Oh please don’t misunderstand, no one wants a proper lobby more than me. But I also don’t want to see multiplayer remain in the state that it’s in when a small effort could go a long way in triage. The small bit of effort I made creating the ‘HWR Lobby’, inviting the few friends I had and asking them I turn to invite their friends yielded 70+ members in no time. Only a few logged back in after the first time, but it’s actually a pain in the ass (relitivly, several clicks in reality) to join that group every time you launch steam. Make that 1 click with nothing more than a link in an existing MOTD window designed for news and to be easy to update, or a little effort to make it a permanent button should not be hard to implement.

Hi,

i played HW1/Cat very much in the good old days … uses, and self modify, mods …
Today i use HW2 Classic with Complex9.1 and STC Gamma mod … partly self modified …
I would like to buy HW:R … as it looks an improvement over the classic version …
I dont need an lobby - play to 100% only with friends i know personaly … (maybe … i am an relict :stuck_out_tongue: ) … BUT the most Important part i miss is -> working Multiplayer SAVE …
In large battle spaces - i like epic size RTS gameplay … but sadly - the only few RTS games today who have an such large/epic scale miss complettly multiplayer save (Homeworld II and Supreme Commander FA ) … If multiplayer save come true … then i get one ore more copys over steam
(ATM i have managed to get “Multiplayer Save” in the above games, by playing it in an VM and save the full VM …)
