Yeah some gear types don’t have enough differentiation on the icons to be easy to tell (ie damage reduction belts). You can sort your bank by faction though as a way of checking. LLC should always have more gold than anything else and will have money related terms in the names. Whereas Peacekeepers have grunt-like names like Brain Bucket and their primary colour should be a darkish green and there also is generally a yellow star somewhere on the gear.
Thanks for this OP
Added some more information about Minor Stats and how different factions seem to like to activate them for Uncommon and Rare tiers.
Added more info about Gear Level and determining the quality of an item. Working on a table of min/max stats I will post up later…
This is where I"m confused. Maybe it’s simple and I’m missing the point. You can loadout any gear to a character and use it within the game, but should I not be doing that? Should I only use gear designed for my faction?
Faction gears just basically mean which faction the gear came from/belongs to something like that but there is no limitation on “this gear is only for this faction”.
Appreciate the response. Good to know.
Anytime fellow Solus Protector. That’s what the community is here for aside from the trolling and the love hate
Each faction specializes in certain stats while sucking in others. You want to seek out gear to suit your play-style and character build. ie “I am really good an landing kills and assists” so I should probably use Jennerit gear, or “I am likely to take a lot of health damage” so Eldrid gear might be a better choice.
This definition might be a little misleading. Shield Penetration determines how much of the damage you deal ignores the shields. If you have 100% shield pen your attacks bypass the shield entirely and start chipping away at the health without having to break the shields at all.
Characters also have shield pen helixes. It isn’t exclusive to just gear pieces.
Does this also apply to Kleese’s Battle Chair being augmented to heal nearby teammates?
great guide so far
Heal Power I believe is any sort of healing that involves healing other players. That should include skills and buildables.
@lowlines
I guess I’ll post this here, since I didn’t want to clutter up your other, specific topics.
From your boss drop list and your factions list, I see 2 legendaries missing that I have.
Does this perhaps suggest a third, unclassified type of legendary? Or perhaps legendaries specific to challenges (in the same way that character lore rewards guaranteed gear?)
I have found 2 copies of the Gambler’s Corpse Reviver. A helmet with -CC and -CC while skills are on cooldown.
Then there’s the Executive Insurance Policy. A seemingly LLC battery with Max Shield, Shards per second, and Gain an overshield when shields charge to max.
Very nice guide, thanks for posting! I’m quite the noob when it comes to MOBA, Battleborn is really my first experience with it and I basically only got interested because of how much I love Borderlands 2/TPS. Honestly, I’d never even been a FPS guy until BL2. (Bully to Gearbox for making great games! The unique flavor and sense of humor is what sold me.)
So I’m looking to min/max with gear, i.e. pairing Shield Capacity/Recharge Rate flawed gear with Eldrid and the like – no shield, no need for it to recharge.
Similarly, is it safe to assume that Reload Speed penalty gear can be applied to any melee character, or a ranged one who doesn’t reload? Orendi, for example, never does anything even resembling a reload. Will Reload Speed penalty reduce how quickly Toby’s Railgun charges or Thorn draws her Bow? It said above that Attack Speed buffs will increase these, so I’m guessing an Attack Speed penalty would similarly be the one to reduce Railgun charge time or Bow draw time. Would Reload Speed penalties make Monty’s Minigun generate heat more quickly? Overheating is kind of his equivalent of reloading, and while I am 99% sure they’re different mechanics and wouldn’t interact in any way, I just like to be sure.
Second, does Recoil affect the target reticle for melee characters? I’d imagine it would be safer for them to carry flawed Recoil-adding gear anyway, being that at close range the opponent’s body just occupies more of the screen.
Third, when an item of Gear has a trigger “on a melee hit,” they mean any melee hit, right? Like Boldur’s ordinary axe swings or punches from his primary attack button, not just the ones generated by the melee button (Circle on PS4.) I strongly expect this to be the case, but just wanted confirmation.
Corpse Reviver is a bugged Rare item that thinks it is a legendary (you can tell since it has no unique function). I’m pretty sure I have the other other one, but I will have to check when I get the chance.
I am by no means an expert when it comes how perks affect character skills, so you will only really know for certain if you go test out your theories and see if there’s a noticable difference. Definitely reload speed will only have an impact on characters that have a magizine that runs out and triggers a reload or can be reloaded manually. Infinite ammo types should not be affected.
Not sure about Attack Speed, I would like to think all attacks would have an Attack Speed.
Recoil is another one of those perks that sounds very much like it requires a firing weapon to be equipped, but I don’t know for certain since I haven’t tested it myself.
Any sort of close range projectile-free attack should be considered a melee hit. Again I wouldn’t know for certain if there are any special cases since I haven’t tested this.
A quick update:
The Executive Insurance Policy could be one you can only get from Rarity Loot Packs (Epic, Legendary etc). It doesn’t seem to be listed as a drop for any boss or faction specific loot pack, but hey I could be wrong. As I have said before, the data I have may not take into account game updates/patches but if you happen to remember where you got it that would be helpful
Why hasn’t this been pinned yet? It deserves one
I’ll ask again here, can anyone clarify between heal power and healing recieved for me? I specifically want to know which if any affect lifesteal, but also clarification because some have said heal power helps healers heal themselves as well as others.
