Precisely this, as I went into detail in a thread I created about farming for the Stop Gap here.

They could make rare spawns 100%, and they could even make their dedicated loot drop 100%, but you’d still spend dozens of hours or more farming to get the right anointment and the right rolls on it. That to me would make farming less frustrating. At least then I’d know what I’m after will drop, it’s just a matter of farming to get the right rolls. That seems like a better compromise.

And in case it’s not clear to the dissenters in this thread, no one is asking for a hand out. We all acknowledge that farming is part of this game, but with all the layers of RNG we have to sift through to get the stuff we want, it’s been taken to an extreme that sucks the fun right out of the game. It’s a mistake that has been made by other games too. When you make the gear grind too frustrating, you’re not going to encourage player retention and game longevity - it almost always has the opposite effect.

Neverwinter, Terra, Black Desert. These are my examples of games I very much loved but ultimately chased me away because the gear grind was far too steep. Every single one of these games eventually went back and changed that, but it was far too late for all of them.

Neverwinter :joy: is that still even going ? I used to have all the toons and an end game TR, I left when Omu came out mod 14 I think it was

No idea that was many years ago for me

A trip down memory lane thanks for that

The short answer is, yes. The same company (Arc) runs Star Trek Online, which I still play from time to time on my Xbox. Their MTs are a bit insidious, but at least they aren’t necessary to play, and there are ways to game the system so that you don’t have to spend any real money. But to the casual player, especially someone just starting out, the looming pay wall is hard to see around.

No way thats hilarious, how they are still going I will never know, I knew they did STO I never ventured into that now myself, but NW yeah them lootboxes hiding away the legendary mounts, cash grabs all over the place, you could grind out in game currency (astral diamonds) but would take you months to buy a legendary mount, cheers for the info :+1:

@Alhammadi341 I mean it been talked about to death with facts that something needs to be done. Those that play M3-M4 wants to be rewarded properly. People made some good points about it

As for me I want to experiment class build and see what weapons, elements, and annointeds do in combination with VHs skills. They’re CM and Artifacts that can boost gear, FFYL, and more VH performance better

I am okay with RNG but at least the dedicated needs to up the chances a lot more

I agree , having to replay the game at least 5 times on one character that just to get to level 80 not metion op levels ( breakdown play normal mode then tvhm just to get to 50 and for me I had to play the game twice on uvhm because if you remember uvhm came in 2 parts and again when Lilith dlc came out just to get to level 80) quite insane

So true, how are people not getting this. My friends and family have stopped playing in large part due to this. It needs to change because I love the game and want them to come back. I have played solo for over a month now as they have all moved to other games. These are the same people who put 100s of hours into BL2.

Here is an example during the temporary anointed loot drop increase in November taking about how it was not working on dedicated loot pools:

It’s NOT just RNG. There’s actually hidden limitations, and I’ve proven it through tracking literally thousands of drops. Look how many people complain about the dozens or hundreds of Woodblocker drops they’ve had. How many have even seen a Hornet? That’s not RNG. There are groups of loot, and certain types of loot only show up at certain settings and if the RNG is just right while other loot is designed to drop like candy.

Need a Woodblocker? Go farm Graveward for 5 minutes, 10 tops and I guaratee you’ll get one. Mayhem setting does not matter. Want a Hornet? In over 800 runs at Graveward I only saw one, and it dropped at Mayhem 4. There’s no RNG in that. That’s deliberately controlling what loot drops and how often, and that throws a whole new level of frustration into farming. If it was pure RNG you would actually get the drops you want more often, but some items are artificially limited to how often they can drop no matter what you do. And then if you’re wanting a specific anointment on it…

Well, I’ll just say this. You seem to have plenty of time on your hands and are really busy defending the farming, so here is what I want you to do.

Go farm me a Rakk Attack anointed Hornet. Come back here and post again once you’ve found one and can trade it to someone else to prove you actually have it. And don’t buy it off Ebay or anything like that. Farm it legitimately. Let me know when you’re done.

See you in a year or two.

What .6% to drop means on average it will drop .6% of the time. No more no less. Now I know you used .6% as an exaggerated number but here’s some quick dum dum math to show you how much worse it actually is.

I’ll use Boorman Nates as an example since Cutsman is something most everyone wants. Reports are all over the place but he seems to have about a 25% chance to spawn. And I’ve heard he has anywhere from 3%-10% chance to drop a Cutsman. Let’s go with the high end. So that means on a given run you have a 2.5% chance to see any Cutsman drop. Not too bad right? If your runs last about a minute that’s a Cutsman every 2hrs40mins roughly. But say you don’t just want a Cutsman. You want THE CUTSMAN, Binary with the perfect Annointment. Well that’s where it gets silly.

Here’s where the oversimplified dum dum math comes in because I’m bad at math. Let’s say there are only 10 weapon annointments than can drop(there are more). Now you have a .25% chance of getting what you want. Which translates to about 400 kills or 1600 total runs. Oof. But it doesn’t end there! You also want the right prefix! So again let’s assume(falsely) that there are only 10 weapon prefixes. Time to move that decimal over one more time! .025% Or roughly 4000 kills or 16000 runs! Now if you’re doing those runs in about a minute that’s roughly 266 hours. PER ELEMENT YOU WANT IT IN. And that my friends is why dedicated drops are largely pointless.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Bad Posts (for individual posts not topics)

A thought:

They are still adding content (DLC and otherwise).
There will be higher max levels.
There will be new items.
They may up the cap for Guardian Ranks.
They may create low gravity levels or an entire DLC (maybe an Elpis DLC), making entirely new builds and/or the slam anointment viable.
The game had M1-M3 earlier. Now it has M4. I suspect we’ll see higher numbers later.
They’re revamping the entire Mayhem system. They may want to do that before tweaking loot drops.

I’m not going full defense for them, but I also think that they’re not working on/or better said, focusing on, “final endgame” fully yet. I think that will be after all the DLC is out and the max level for vault hunters is set to the final max level.

Counterpoint to myself: that doesn’t mean that they couldn’t up specific loot in higher difficulties…even put anointments on every drop and 100% guaranteed designated drops on all bosses on the highest Mayhem level. Especially since all of our gear will be rendered moot when they raise the level cap.

And if they did that, it might be a nice test for them to see how they want the final “real end” of the game to work for perpetuity.

Counter-counterpoint: Thing is, since loot is tradable, no matter what they do, some people will just go buy stuff on ebay. So a weird element of this is that the rarest and best guns are going to flood the game shortly anyway because of purchasing and duping. It must be hard to balance the casual or non-purchasing, but hardcore, player base against the “pay to win” player base.

Dont worry man gear box has this battle pass coming out which im sure will function as intended and not break the game in some ridiculous uninvolved way…:man_facepalming:

I’m not gonna remark on any battle pass thing yet since there hasn’t been a formal announcement, but I will say that there’s a lot of issues (and not just loot-related) that need to be addressed with the game as is without adding on top of it.

This. I wish GBX would do this and make exclusive legendaries for all bosses/rare spawns especially the bosses at the end of each Proving Grounds. I have done Proving Grounds runs that have resulted in zero legendaries on M4. Unacceptable.

If there were dedicated legendaries guaranteed for each boss/rare spawn then there would be a massive reason to rotate between them to get what you’re looking for.

For example, the farming google doc says there are 244 legendaries in the game and I have counted approx. 50+ bosses/rare spawns. That means you can give each boss/rare spawn aound 5 dedicated legendaries (2 guns, 1 grenade, 1 class mod and 1 artifact). Now, I’m not saying all 5 of these should drop every single time. What I’m saying is a system like this would allow players to farm every major enemy for exactly the piece of gear they want. No more farming Graveward for all the world drops since Graveward would only drop 5 out of the 244 legendaries. This would also give an incentive to run Proving Grounds because its the only way to see those specific 5 legendaries drop on a consistent basis.

multiply that by 2 or 3, depending how many level cap raises that we get lol.

personally feel that annointments should have been introduced after the last level cap increase to give us ultimate endgame farming.
