1000% Agree.
Good for you . But if you had read on you would have seen that there are those of us that have stop playing the game because of modifiers. We have no choice in the game play the least get the least or just stop playing the game . Why do you and gbx want to put us here ? Let me chose modifiers or not without being penalized and I mean being penalized by given the least .
Because, as it stands now, adding in a choice has no consequences. You want all the rewards but without having to deal with modifiers. I’m ok with adding in choice, as in choosing what modifiers you want individually. But this is GBX’s game. So what ever they decide is gonna be it.
The issue I see is that instead of learning to play with the modifiers, you threw in the towel. You gave up because you feel that your experience in the game isn’t fun anymore. It’s a very selfish standpoint, imo. Yeah, we are the players, the consumers… but GBX is the developer. It’s their game and they are going to go in the direction they want. The best thing you can do, from a consumer standpoint, is to boycott. Like you have been doing. I’m going to continue enjoying the game.
Selfish ! How can it be selfish for those of us that don’t want to use modifiers? I can just as easily say that those of you who like modifiers are selfish because now we can’t enjoy the game . It works both ways . And did I say I want all the rewards without earning them ? That came out of you . I said I want the difficulty and challenge without the modifiers.
Once again the gamers who like the modifiers insult and tell gamers who don’t like modifiers they are selfish and to leave the game have I insulted you have I said to leave the leave .
I’ve found that most of the modifiers are not game-impacting. The hardest modifier is almost always annoying, but depending on your build, you can usually find one that is fairly unintrusive.
That said, I would love the option to turn them off. They are just kind of “there” and add no actual fun factor for me.
The modifiers really need to be made selectable by the player.
It takes way too long rolling them the way they currently do.
Everybody knows the ones which are going to crash your console, but it is very time consuming to not have one in the mix.
And again, some should plain be replaced by others. Having one increase the number of mobs, increase the number of badasses, and similar also adds challenge, does not clutter the screen, and actually adds fun to the game.
Most of the existing modifiers do not add fun, just tedium and annoyance.
Why play a game that is more annoying than fun?
I agree with the OP. The modifiers do add challenge, but completely take the fun out of the game. The additionally Health, Shield, and Armor is great, but don’t cripple us with having to fight cryo orbs, death heads, reduced crit damage, lava pools, and healing drones.
Give us increased mob sizes with more badasses as we progress up the Mayhem levels.
I have resigned to playing on Mayhem 1. The modifier: Lootsplosion. I use Mayhem 0 or 1 weapons weapons and turn the guardian rank off. It’s still not challenging all the time, but at least I can focus on killing the enemies and not spinners.
Some of the modifiers are dreadful, especially if you run a low shield (melee/roid) or low health (urad etc). Pool party and floor is lava are culprits here.
However, some modifiers are great. Speed demon is great for movement and frees up points spent on movement skills. Drone ranger is great for enemies that run away and hide when you are in FFYL as the drone is usually still visible for a second wind. Holy crit is great for increasing critical hit damage making certain bosses very easy.
The biggest gripe I have is the re-rolling. It has taken me between 45 minutes and 2 hours to roll the combination of modifiers I want (Speed Demon, Healy Avenger, Drone Ranger, Holy Crit), which means I am loath to change mayhem mode on that character’s playthrough.
An option to choose, or to at least re-roll each category of modifiers would be greatly appreciated.
Because you can already disable the modifiers and play. It’s not an insult. But after all this time, do you think that GBX is going to offer another mode? They already give you the option to turn them off, just like you want. But the downside is you don’t get the rewards that players who want them on get. Including more challenging levels.
I can get behind a rework of some of them, or new modifiers… That’s perfectly reasonable and to be expected. Especially with GBX removing 21 anointments that were not being used.
Exactly! OP wants it their way like they are at burgerking when what they want is already their just in diet when they want non diet. So in other words people have nothing to complain about with these modifiers as you can just opt out of them, but you wont get any good drops which is the price you pay for convenience…
It is insulting because to many people M0 is not challenging enough.
What you are failing to consider is people want challenge, but want it to be enjoyable, not annoying. M0 does not provide a challenge, and the current set of modifiers are annoying. There is not really a middle ground here…
Obviously there is a middle ground, since I don’t find all the modifiers annoying. But again, the choice is there. If you want more of a challenge you have to play with the modifiers. Asking GBX to remove them just for the sake of removing them isn’t a thing that’s going to happen. Since, like we’ve all said, you can play without them. There has to be some sort of give and take, like there is.
What I see happening, is that modifiers will be added/removed ( as in new modifiers being added and the most unused ones being eliminated), but not eliminated, for M1-M10. Which I’m ok with. But the modifiers are going to stay. There’s no denying that.
Check out the upcoming “mayhem made mild” mini-event. i think they are testing the waters for a more neutral experience. hopefully this means the modifier system will get a rehaul of some sort to satisfy everyone.
It looks interesting, but I can’t stand Galaxy Brain or Big Kick Energy.
Not to mention the sets I currently have will have to go through the god awful roll, re-roll, re-roll, ad nauseum to get them back when the event is over.
One of my biggest gripes is the time it takes to actually get the modifiers I find acceptable. If they would simply make them selectable alot of people would be happy.
I am sure the modifiers are here to stay.
Instead of building on the success of M4, GBX instead went the direction most people hated in M1-3, dumb modifiers.
Most of the modifiers are really poorly done, are intrusive, and cause people’s consoles to crash, despite them “fixing” them. Visually, the majority of them are a huge mess.
They are tedious and annoying. Not challenging.
But going around stating just turn them off if you don’t like them is insulting to alot of people. Because currently, there are no options available to them. The main option is to quit playing, not exactly something I would promote.
The modifers need alot of re-work. And really need to be Selectable.
Basically this.
I really wish they didn’t go the gun scaling route so people didn’t feel pressured to always play at m10. But anyways, there’s really not enough options in the first place for a customisable experience. that was one of the best parts of the mayhem system, getting to choose the difficulty you’re most comfortable in.
we just want options, if people sincerely believe that modifiers are challenging then let them have their fun! P much the only options we have now tho are modifiers or cakewalk. (tho IMO m10 is already pretty easy)
See there it is I’ve got two choices play it at the easiest mode or not at all . That’s it ! You are so arrogant and unyielding that you will not allow a simple choice of not having to use modifiers to enjoy a game . So I get ya
You could play on M8 with just two modifiers. Then it’s not the easiest difficulty but it’s not M10 level modifiers. If it’s too easy, use M6 gear. If it’s too difficult, farm the really easy bosses on M10 and get some M10 gear or jump to M10 and use the fabricator then go back to M8.
There are more than two options. I don’t like the number of modifiers on M10 either, but it’s my choice to play with them or not.
I never had any crashing issues on PC until they released the MM2.0 modifiers. I can never tell if its the modifiers I’m using that occasionally cause me to bluescreen, but it definitely started the day they came into the game.
They definitely have a lot of issues, unfortunately. And oddities.
Death for example will never cause explosions. I can blow myself up with Moze all day, but if you attack a Death at point blank with the same weapons, you’ll never down yourself. If you spawn a Death while in Iron Bear, then get out, Death will attack Iron Bear if you have Auto Bear up, or just go to Iron Bear’s last location and get stuck if you don’t.
I’ve also had a lot of issues with “phantom spinners” where it looks like there is a spinner there, and you shoot it to death, then it just disappears. Not good when you’re relying on it for a second wind in the Guardian Takedown!
Lastly, I feel like there is a weird interaction with Death and NPCs. Maybe not everyone has had this happen, but when Death downs you, it’s like the “player is down” flag is not set by the game. Example: I was replaying the campaign last night and clearing out the Anvil with Brick. I kill the last enemy, a Death spawns, and it downs me. Brick just stands there next to me and does not attempt to help me up. It makes me think that Death doesn’t set the flag indicating to an NPC that you’re down and need to be revived.
