Unofficial Community Patch Thread

Ha… was just getting ready to reply to you before I saw your edit.

Will post anyway so others can have the troubleshooting steps:

UCP TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS

Skill changes are invoked with a hotfix so you must be online and hooked to the Internet.

If playing offline…you HAVE to use the offline version of the patch.
Are you doing this??

Get a fresh version of the patch and try that. Some text editors can screw with it……Get a fresh version and don’t open it with anything other than noptepad. My advice is if you aren’t going to edit it in any way…don’t open it.

If you want to edit it…notepad is terrible for that though. I use Notepad++

Are you running any other mods?

Next try clearing your game cache in Steam. Then reboot your machine, restart the game in and see in the patch holds.

Also make sure all your Windows Updates have loaded and it’s not trying to update something in the background.

Do the same with Steam. Make sure that it is up-to-date and not trying to update.

You aren’t going to like this but the final option now is to use a clean copy of your BL2.exe …a COPY…DO NOT USE your original. And reinstall the Hex edit on it…then once again clear your Steam Cache…reboot and try it all again.

I have heard reports of these oddities popping up from time to time but this “nuclear option” usually solves it.

Hi guys. My problem is, that i can’t farm weapons like the sandhawk, pimpernel or the grog nozzle. I have the current patch on. What can i do? (Sorry if theres some mistakes, English is not my main language)

According to the 3.1 Changelog the first place to go to farm 2 of your needs is:

“H3RL-3 has a 33% chance to drop the Sandhawk, Orphan Maker and Pimpernel now.”

Gold Golem for the Grog:

“Gold Golem has a rare chance of dropping the Grog Nozzle now,”

Does this help you or are you saying the patch does not seem to be working?

Announcement!

Shadow has asked for ideas for his next version of the UCP which he thinks will be 4.0.

He does not want wild and crazy stuff and wants to stick with stuff already in the vanilla game which will make the game batter. Not a bunch of completely new mod suggestions…please.

Fire away!

I think we’re on the same page asking for allegiance/aggression relics that are otherwise on par with equivalent relics that enhance elemental damage.

I have taken care of the Landscaper as I see fit. I’m still not sure anyone else is going to use it, but if you buff it so it one-shots things, maybe someone else would. I just removed the self damage (and I think I gave the child grenades grenade damage? I don’t even remember now).

The Retcher - we must figure out how to touch the damage on those reload orbs. I figured out how to turn them corrosive from explosive, but they should hit hard. For a Seraph with limited range and otherwise weak stats, the tradeoff should be that if you can get those orbs on target (which is also tricky), it should wreck face if you pull it off.

Well you could use my legendary crunch mod i posted. It’s what i always wanted Krieg to have since I run mania/bloodlust gun Krieg.

Give Geary the Blockhead
Give the Gluttonous Thresher the Buffalo

Up the spawn chance of Muscles in thousand cuts (slightly. 5-10% should be fine) and give him the Ogre.

Give spiderpants the Kitten. For obvious reasons. Eh @Psychichazard?

Maybe someone can give these a shot?

Maybe I’m picky, but as a new person to the ‘Community patch’ scene, not having all of the instructions to patch the borderlands.exe, enable console, and finally execute the patch in-game within the first post makes it a scavenger hunt to find all of the necessary information to get the patch up and running.

Maybe include these steps in the OP so that I don’t need to scrub through several different youtube videos to figure out what to do?

Patch is fun btw, cheers.

Whoa, that is a major milestone. Almost all of the mod creators I’ve talked to didn’t know how to do so! Also, 100% agreed on a heavy Retcher buff.

Point taken.

Buuuut…Everything IS there in the first post. You do have to view some vids which I agree are a bit cumbersome.

Be happy for someone to clean it up and simplify it for me…Write them up and I’ll be happy to post.

Or if someone else wants to that’s great.

Got some things going on ATM…literally no time.

@shadowevil1996

A HEAVY Retcher Buff sounds like a GREAT idea!

Also…Relics, Relics, Relics.

Did I mention Relics??

Yeah, hold that thought: the Retcher is the only Tediore splatgun I use at the moment, and the tweak I did turned all their reload children corrosive. A Slag splatgun, for example, throws those orbs, but they hit for corrosive damage. If I figure it out, I’ll let you know.

All tediore splatgun reloads explode and launch child grenades. Should be simple to find where in the data for the retcher the location is, since they launch differently. Find the location, up the numbers.
Or, simply edit the reload and give it, say, the bonus packages child grenades

John, if you could give me the base code for the retcher, I’ll see what i can do.

I have a couple of Retcher tweaks on deck from different sources: one alters the reload orb trajectory, and another alters the orb count. I changed them (all, as it turns out) to corrosive damage which works for me since the Retcher is the only Tediore Splatgun I use. I did some research last night, but, well… combat is way more fun.

I’ve been looking into those, and aaron0000s splitter mods seeing what i can do. I’m new here so Idk how to get to the raw code for the weapons.

Do you have the latest version of the filter tool? I manually maintain my patch file, but the filter tool does provide a gut check and an object explorer you can use outside of the game. This is what I use.

I have it, haven’t gotten around to trying it yet.

Yeah
Thrown tediore guns are a projectile
And iirc all thrown splatguns use the same projectile

So changing the child for Retcher will change it for every other tediore splatgun as well

Right, but it seems like it would have its own class of orbs? They don’t match the weapon element (where others do), and have their own unique trajectory upon reload (they fly way high in the air). It’s weird that changing the damage from explosive to corrosive changed all the splatgun reload orbs to corrosive when they weren’t all explosive to start with? (Or am I trippin’ here?)

They were all explosive as far as i know

As i said, all the “orbs” are just regular grenades that get launched when a tediore splatgun reloads. That’s its e-tech schtick. You turned them into corrosive grenades.
