Unofficial Tier List

From what I’ve seen as well, this tier list (going by the actual ‘definition’ of such) is pretty accurate. It’s being taken WAY too seriously, if one is good with a character that is lower on the list, then more power to one. That, however, does not mean the character should be higher on the list

S tier should be reserved for characters considered broken. (Pre-nerf Ambra, etc.) A tier is characters that are above average and could warrant a slight change, while B is balanced and is considered so by every tier list I’ve seen. C is characters that warrant a buff, while D is for characters that will always be at a disadvantage even with a higher skill level. - mshldm1234

That pretty much sums up what I’ve come to understand is the ‘definition’ of a “Tier List”. Going by that, I feel most of the characters are pretty much where they should be

Is it me or do tier lists almost inevitably create a certain level of toxicity in a team based game? I know, it’s an empirical analysis of a character’s abilities, attributes, blah blah blah weighed against the game’s challenges (Since really, you can win the game for your team and never get a kill) and other characters, but all I ever see it bore is everyone and their mama flocking to a handful of the cast and people giving up/kicking someone/admonishment for using anything that isn’t supremely meta, or god forbid, low tier. Seriously, this was even in Borderlands. A game where you can make a melee build with a guy designed to hide behind a turret.

It also seems too early. A list with no real complete analysis of every character (Usually tier lists need months and months before something relevant is made) or discussion before it is made, which almost all of them are at this point, feels premature and becomes more about defensive weaker characters instead of analyzing them. I’ll contribute what I can tho.

These lists are somewhat useful in helping the developers to balance the characters. To see which characters people see as strong and see as weak. Then they look at the data and see how much of it is based on fact and how much of it is mere perception. So these lists help the devs figure out which numbers to look at first.

Good point, yo.

Something that bugs me with the list in the OP, Whiskey is D tier but has A tier potential… isn’t a tier list supposed to just be potential used to the fullest? A mid level Foxtrot with all mutation options unlocked is pretty even, if not better, than Oscar Mike. Better damage (His lvl1 damage is already some of the best in the game), a better passive that lends itself to better wave clears without skills and even more DPS, a really good quick melee, good burst damage and assassin tools, a good damaging knock back skill that affords silly mobility, crazy great wave clear and push with level 6 mutation (His MIRV helps), level 5 mutation keeps him in the fray longer than not only OM, buy most ranged characters, and I’m sure there are things I’m missing.

The worst thing about Whiskey is the need for commitment for mutations and the necessity of aim, and assuming he has all mutations and good accuracy, he does not belong in a tier of “No matter how hard you try, you’ll fall short.”
