Ummm, no. The healing beam is not an ability, it’s the secondary attack. And his beam healing himself is a helix node. I’ve used it and it’s an incredibly lackluster heal. Miko is better off relying on Biosythesis to heal while taking the node that allows him to heal nearby allies with Biosynthesis. And if you’re having trouble with the slow, stay out of his range. Miko can’t throw that skill exceptionally far.
The slow is ridiculous because it lasts for about 2 more seconds even after you leave the field when it should just completely disappear or last less than a second.
The ridiculous stacked survivability from the 200 Heal per sec on self and an ally while Bio is active with H2 R and the extra healing mutator, One of the best slows in the game, extremely rewarding MS-on-hit helix and loadout item, Miko survivability needs to be toned down.
The only type of character that can kill Miko reliably at the moment, are broken characters like disgusting Galilea or 100-0 burst-combo type like Benedict. Everyone else, a good Miko will never die to because all Miko has to do to survive is drop the slow, pop Bio, heal someone and outheal the damage against the slowered person or simply drop the slow, pop the bio, run out and survive thanks to the huge difference in MS on both side.
It’s a good thing Gearbox knows that Miko is an issue and is doing something about it by touching that survivability first. I won’t be surprised if Miko heal beam is also toned down to be like all other targeted beam number that does about 35 base.
I’d love to see that, make it more of a targeted build-up tool to be used out of combat, rather than a “keep this dude alive no matter what is being thrown thrown at him” tool like it is now.
There needs to be less healing going on and more backing for health in this game, it negates the advantage you should gain by damaging someone to low health. Why leave, when Miko can still just heal you back up while you still fight?
+1 OP. Most of the characters listed have balance issues that need to be addressed.
First and foremost…Galilea! If you disagree, YOU ARE DEAD WRONG and have been versing bad gali players. A good Gali player is unkillable almost even without a support. The ranged shield toss into; ranged-pull, wound, silence, slow, speed-increase, insane burst damage, lifesteal, I’m sure there’s more and hopefully you’re getting the picture…this character has TOO many mechanics in her favor. I wanted to main her as a character but refuse to play her due to how OP she currently is.
Montana is fine. I have no issue getting kills and his HP is fine. If focused by the entire other team a Miko CANNOT keep him up. Play smart and don’t pick him unless you have a healer on your team (aka Miko)…
Rath. I and many others said this in the open beta. The kit he has is fine imo but the Ult is basically a free kill(s). No other character can do that. Nerf it. As soon as you get knocked up into the air if that Rath is level 4 you should expect death. Cheap and not skillful in the slightest.
Ghalt is actually not that bad, I think the shotties do too much damage at range. The real trick is to take out his traps the moment he puts them down. I typically dance around Ghalt with smaller characters like Orendi and Melka.
Phoebe, she is squishy as hell, can’t disagree there. The disparity between her and a Gali is huge and they are basically the same class.
ISIC, possibly tone down the damage on the ult, it does hit like a truck.
Toby…whoever okay’d his ult needs to be replaced at GBX. It is completely counter-intuitive to his kit. A character that is supposed to be played at range with a chest beam that needs to be constantly targeting enemies leaving you vulnerable the entire time? Dumb. His shield only takes like 500dmg to destroy, that’s 2 or 3 Marquis snipe shots. Without the shield Toby is basically shutdown as many of his talents and his main weapon rely on the shield. How to fix? Change the ult entirely to a missile barrage or something else Titanfall-esk (I know that’s where you got the design for Toby, don’t even try to deny it…
) What is his suit made out of freakin aluminum? Weakest metal I’ve even seen, being as big of a target as he is he needs more survivability.
I can fix your issue with the slow with one change: pick a ranged character. And you can complain about Bio all you want, but it has a large cooldown. The max reduction on that cooldown doesn’t even happen until late game. That’s a point where everyone should be at powerful builds so Miko needs that healing. Why even play supports if they’re just going to be nerfed by doing their jobs?
lol, I see this thought all the time, and I’m guessing it’s because people are building their Montana’s with extra damage/attack speed maybe? I have two builds for mine, one with Miko (more damage, plus healing received and some health) and one for when she’s not around, which has health regen, health increase, damage reduction, and three instances of health regen increase when under %50
I honestly get more kills without a miko on my team because people think they can focus me down, they see my health start chipping away, they know I don’t have a backpack mushroom on my butt, and they start dedicating, but they just can’t seem to kill me. If the team is responding (like they should) then those people get turned on very quickly.
Other spells also have cooldown.
If Bio can be used to fully heal Miko back to full with the helix in one go while making Miko nearly unkillable, should other basics be able to 100-0 in one go as well?
Nope.
Sure every abilities are different but you have to view a kit as a whole. Miko has too much survivability and healing power that there even WILL be some toning to Miko in the upcoming patch. Miko is completely melee-bane and can only be countered by a few good ranged chars that can deal with his 30% MS to run to safety. Ambra had her shield MS toned down. You think Miko will be left untouched? He’s now the most picked support in the game because you don’t have to try and will still outperform every other supports outside Kleese late game who still has a counterplay style to the way he is played and actually has a period where he at his weakest. He’s even getting toned down too.
Situational. If you vs a good team without a healer for Montana you WILL get stomped. Period. When you play bads any character is viable…
Kek, you clearly have never played a Miko. Bio heals around 250-350 health (based on Helix nodes) of your health over 5 seconds. Lest you forget, there are also several abilities that can also prevent healing. You could literally rend Miko useless.
And I don’t know why I have to keep reiterating that Miko is a support and healing is literally what he does. Nerf his ability to heal and he becomes a pointless character.
Actually, you know what? I’m gonna keep using him heavily after the nerf in a way that still makes him seem OP. Just to prove the point a strong Miko is the player and not the game.
All Ambra people said the same thing and complain she is gutted because they can’t no longer hold beam to win game.
Bio with H2 R can eaisly be used to heal 500-600 health easily from the beam on an ally when you add in the mutator, bio bonus and the number growth before addign the Bio heal itself, giving Miko way too much health in return for not trying.
The abilities to prevent healing are mainly on Galilea who is broken atm and is getting nerfed. If the counter to a char is a broken char, there’s an issue, just like how the counter to Galilea comp meta is another Galilea comp.
While I do not mind Miko ability to heal someone, I do mind Miko ability to survive incoming fires without trying unless I’m using Benedict to just 100-0 the Miko. You can go ahead and heal that Montana from 1000 to 2000 in 5 seconds but don’t also heal Miko back from 20% to 100% in the same amount of time. This is exactly where they’re touching in this patch according to AMA, Miko’s survivability. Do you completely gut the healers abiltiy to function as a healer just because they heal themselves less? Nope. They still do a damn good job healing the allies and are still necessary to have in a team where every other supports need a few level in before they can heal decently.
most of my friends and I are 70+, we don’t play “bads” at this point.
He’s just like any other character, when you get lit up, you need cover, the problem is he just needs more cover, the difference being he’s spec’d to the point that his health regens faster than his shield up to %50 when you step behind cover.
The only real threat you get is if Marquis is hitting consecutive headshots, which is why I don’t step around a corner without my sniper giving me cover at the same time… but that’s no different than if you have a Miko behind you. Plus, with Miko not dedicated to healing you, that’s one more person dealing damage to whatever you’re shoving, stunning, knocking up, or slowing.
But, of course, everyone’s convinced they’re right, so if you’d like a demonstration, feel free to look me up.
Level has NOTHING to do with skill. All it means is you have put more time into the game than others.
I’m 70+ and I play against bads all day long lol…you trying to say something magically changes in matchmaking once a player hits a certain command level? smh
Oh, so you play bads all day at 70, must be boring.
At this point the matchmaking has seemed to evened out a bit and other than the occasional bad group, we are getting pretty decent match-ups. Except for when it acts up and doesn’t put us up with a party.
But, once again, we come back to the point that I’d certainly welcome giving you a demonstration any time you’d like. Or you can just keep being condescending.
Nah, man. We should get rid of defenders and supports entirely. The game should be full DPS with absolutely no sort of support whatsoever.
There’s no reason to start throwing everything off the window just because Miko is getting nerfed though.
My Kleese is getting nerfed too but I already know he’s BS to begin with anyway and if you don’t have a good Oscar/ thorn in the team, his Rift set-up are almost impossible to break.
Wait what montana is bad? Wow i must be a beast player then i love montana he can take a ton of damage and miko is his b itch with that hugh crit spot she dead very quickly(not saying miko doesnt need her sur tone done right l2 is insane can get you full healed no time).
Montana has high burst damage and get kills or high damage on most people however if the fight goes on for to long he has to back out or be left dealing no damage.
Been killing gals with montana with ease he very much a 1v1 character.
It’s the perfect reason. Miko is a healer. That’s his lore and the majority of his abilities. I can’t know where the nerfs will stop. People might start to think his beam (which is incredibly balanced and really easy to out DPS) is OP and that gets nerfed. Or that his ult heals too much in it’s AoE and that gets nerfed. You now have an underhealing healer that has nothing else going for him.
If the beam gets hit, it’s because they have been hitting EVERY BEAM THINGY in this game.
Kleese Taser
Ambra Beam
and now, Miko beam.
It won’t be weird to suddenly have them tone Miko number down to what the other beams are currently at.
And even if they nerf Miko, unless it’s to the point the Heal per sec is below half of what it currently is, Miko will still be the only non-conditional healer in the game.
Ambra: Spot healer, can be destroyed. Has to wait until 3 before the healing can last for awhile and even then, has to go in and out of combat to gain the heat.
Kleese: Shield until level 5 to be able to heal. However, the heal can’t really be used in combat for the front line. It’s like a Miko hat except is always at the back unless the Kleese goes to the front himself
Reyna: More of a 2nd support cause she cannot heal until 4 and is more of a burst-save than overtime sutain. She really needs to be in a 2-sup comp to get going.
Miko: The only one that can heal whenever.
So even with a -25% heal something, Miko will still be a viable healer because no one else provide non conditional heal-whenever-you-want-starting-at-level-1 heal like Miko does. Also, Miko does provide more than just a heal. Miko is currently the best follow-up CC chain support because of that stun spore. Kleese ult is for more of a choke point initiatie. Ambra has to wait until 10. Reyna slow is weaker than Miko slow.
Agreed completely.
I like having auto-locking ability’s impact managed, but from what I’ve read they’re “likely” going to be nerfing the biosynth, and not the beam, which means miko herself will be squishier, and not the person she’s hooked too (directly) Upcoming Patch Notes, per BB Sub Reddit
what no mention of oskar mike and how awesome he is at basically melting anyone in a few seconds or Marquis either?
I still say all the other characters, who are now unmentioned, need a buff, not nerfing these characters.
