You spit in face of book club

Hmmm

Well, I ship the magna Carta and minrec. Also, Caldarius and Kelvin platonically. Feel like they could write some sick poetry

Wow, just gonna leave Oscar Mike out in the cold like that? He’s the only one with Codex-published poetry! ā€œWHY I HATE SPIDERS. A POEM BY OSCAR MIKE.ā€ is a jewel of literature. In fact, I nominate OM for Solus Poet Laureate!

Foxtrot x Deande forever.

Also, can I ship me and Phoebe?

Yes? Cool!

No? Well too damn bad.

Alright, to answer your second question, sure you can. Any ship is fine here. As for your first…well it’s a pretty long explanation. Still, if you wish to know, it’s a pretty long read, so fair warning if you don’t wish to waste any of your time. Here it is:

It’s a concept I’ve accepted as a headcanon as to why it is two individuals such as those two could put aside their differences, and act as a team. Of course, the game Battleborn is about all these factions putting aside their differences to fight a common enemy, but as we all know in today’s age, just because we have to work as a team, doesn’t mean we have to like one another. I’m currently writing a fanfic, which is not only a story meant to pair the two together, but a way to make sense of why the two could seamlessly work with one another, as well as with others. Cause you have to admit, for hated enemies to work seamlessly and without issue in such a short span…highly unlikely in any scenario. The two know one another, have fought one another, and have made things personal. This is evident in their banter with one another.

It’s a story of development for the two, as it not only helps them build tolerance towards one another and others, but also awakens something in both. For Marquis, it’s an emotional awakening, with him trying to understand why it is he feels so close to someone outside his own faction, and to someone who should in no way mean anything to him. For Thorn, it is both an emotional and sexual awakening. Not only does she feel how Marquis feels, but now she wonders just how much he can ā€œfeelā€, because she learns through him, that he (as well as the other magnuses on their team) are not like the machines they fight against.

In time, both become attracted to one another, but don’t know how to handle it, so they resent each other for it. Loves a concept not really explored or appropriate in a universe that could die at any given moment, so it’s nothing neither of the two can grasp or understand, given their own mental health. Marquis has only recently discovered emotion, along with his fellow magnuses. It’s this reason that most magnuses become cold, homicidal, and crazy. To become a living, sentient being in itself…we are all fundamentally insane, it’s my theory that magnuses explore these feelings and emotions ten times that of a sentient being in that universe.

As for Thorn, her whole life has been consumed by vengeance and rage. The enemy that forced her faction and other factions to join together had been the ones who destroyed her home star, which resulted in the destruction of her planet. She’s let it’s destruction consume her life, and because of this, she’s become violent, willing to eliminate any and all that would come between her and her vengeance. Marquis is the same, but it is not vengeance that guides his actions, it’s profit and self grandeur.

Why it is I feel the two can connect with one another, is because they are the same without realizing it. They both have self image issues, Marquis trying to be more then a simple robot, and Thorn trying to live up to her family legacy (Something I actually learned in Montana’s operation). Plus both have traits that I’m sure are desirable to the other. For Marquis, it’s Thorn’s ruthlessness and cold demeanor towards her enemies. It’s both dangerous and annoying when directed at him, but when directed at anyone else, he can’t help but admire and respect her. He would even dare say that her work ethic is almost as impressive as his own. That despite the fact that she is a being of flesh and blood, and being someone of such low birth from a faction of useless hobos and hippies, she has ruthlessness and tenacity all magnuses aspire to have.

Thorn’s attraction to Marquis comes from curiosity and familiarity. That something that was made acts, talks, fights, and even struggles like her. The machine acts like a man, a pompous arrogant, and annoying one, but a man none the less. At times he would even act like her mentor/grandfather Boldur, boasting about both himself and his faction. He’s sure of himself, conceited and annoying, but is competent. He’d make a mighty warrior of the Eldrid, if not for his allegiance to the L.L.C., and the fact that he is supposed to be a simple construct made to serve the whims of it’s master. She has to keep telling herself that, because the fact that he is so much like the people she cares about, is a scary truth that challenges all that she’s believed within the eldrid.

This is my headcanon, and my thoughts on why the two were always meant to be. The two are rivals, but they become better because of one another. Plus, it felt better to make a story on their teamwork, because Gearbox had left a lot of blanks in between the stories and it’s characters. I love depth in a character, and with 30 playable characters, I was expecting a deep narrative along game play. If you remember the teaser trailer for Battleborn, then you remember how Marquis came to Thorn’s aid, and seemed genuinely concerned for her well being. Then we learn later on that the two were the anti-thesis of one another, (one was science, one was magic, one was an elf, one was a robot). Yet in that moment, they were at one another’s side, fighting off impossible odds as an endless onslaught of magnuses charged at them as their team mates came to aid them. This was the epic in depth character story I was looking forward to, but a lot of Gearbox’s early concepts were left out in the final product. Doesn’t mean I don’t love the game, but the character driven story had been what drew me into Battleborn in the first place. Though it is understandable, as most of their early concepts were removed to improve on gameplay, and making the characters feel unique.

I hope this answers your question, and that I didn’t leave you too confused.

No, you can not.

Banish the thought. You can have Kid Ultra as a consolation though. I’m sure there’s fingernail residue from her on him.

Guys, I think there’s only one way to decide which one of us gets to ship themselves with Phoebe.

Who’s up for a science fair!

The question I have is does Berg’s screen still show Toby during?

I am so glad I asked that question. Brilliant response. I really do find the emotional psyche of the LLC interesting but never thought of their connection to other beings.

Very good write up!

Of course! And digi-Toby is wearing sexy lingerie…

Looking back at that, that is actually incredibly inaccurate as far as canon lore goes.
