Varkid Raid Boss, New Story Missions, and More Coming in Director's Cut

In the gameplay, we will be visiting new areas.

As I’ve mentioned, I have not paid for the 2nd season pass (first time I ever skipped a Borderlands Series DLC ), the previous things weren’t enough for me to do so.

This is so tantalizingly close to being what I like that I might go ahead.

Sure, no new maps, and no real story DLC, but a raid boss (i.e., a boss that might actually be challenging to a single player) and some little story (lower case ‘s’) things are sooooo close.

Ah heck, I’ll buy it.

Ok, haven’t watched the video yet, so the only mention of maps I saw is behind the scenes stuff. At least if we’re getting new maps, that should add some new places to explore, so that’s something.

It’s . . . not a battle pass? As I understand it, it’s randomised bonus challenges that you can keep re-rolling. Just a bit of extra spice.

It’s a bunch of challenges you complete daily or weekly to earn your way along “progression tracks”, to unlock rewards, including cosmetics and loot.
That’s a battlepass.

Sure, it’s dressed up, gearbox-style, just like arms race was (they claimed it wasn’t a battle royale then later admitted it was based on them, but PvE, so it was). But it’s basically just their version of a battlepass.

I mean, I wasn’t that far off.

I can’t say I am fond of the direction they are continuing to go down. I also think so far i haven’t been satisfied with paying what ever season pass 2 cost to do a bunch of experimental concepts they originally cut from the main release. I stand by the fact that BL3 was a good but buggy and under developed game, but the direction they have chosen to go has alienated me as a a former hardcore fan. I have put thousands of hours in to this franchise like many other here. It feels like our voices where largely un heard in favor of fallowing the money. I hate that this is how it ends but it looks like BL3 just couldn’t be the game I wanted it to be.

I hope those of you who like the direction Gearbox is going enjoy the content personally I think I will look to other games to scratch my looter itch.

Pretty damn close, kudos. The fact they’re saying there’ll be three battlepasses (vault cards), and the first is part of director’s cut, sounds like they want to add more paid content later, and make more money that way. At this point microtransactions wouldn’t surprise me sadly.

They said it would be part of Season Pass 2 but it will come later this year

So it’s not Ava who got murdered?
Damn. Was hoping after we solved the murder we’d get to Award Ava’s killer a trophy or something

Can’t wait for the 8 gun buffs that will launch alongside DLC6!!

you would imagine gbx has the brain to think why ppl sit on 100k on their 1 year olf VHs
i recently did play a new VH with my brother on his ps4… ( that was a very tedious thing… the load times are insane)
we played for what 15 hurs or so
we had like 500 eridium at lvl 60 ish
imagine how this is gonna ■■■■ with the game for anybody trying to go new into it
with that eridium economy you will never be able to truly farm this boss, its gonna be 50 runs graveward and 1 varkid boss. insanity

So after watching the BLS ep9.

Here’s what I saw (please correct me if I’m wrong)

They are opening doors to a raid boss that was there since the beginning?

RV admits Ava was the least liked character in BL3, and he is hoping that this paranormal murder mystery will change the player’s opinions of her just by spending more time with her?

100 new challenges to get for new gear.

And finally, some behind the scenes content, art, etc…

I feel like we are in the third stage. (bargaining)

Many bells and whistles, but I do not see the appeal to other than a raid boss. It sounds like this MM with Ava is meant to be played alongside the main game. IIBPH, the timing of this DLC only is going to work against it.

As always, this is just my opinion

y, they pretend like the 5 buffs are rly rly great when half of those buffs dont rly affect anything
i forgot the 2-3 fixes that go along them sometimes

if this patch with it is suposed to be good it has to add massiv ammounts of stuff ppl asked for
personally i dont understand how you still cant
buy dlc mission rewards
cant get cloudkill and other mission rewards
cant get the bekah
cant get event guns / gear ( and some of them are also incapable of having an annointment, IN AN ANNOINTMEN BASED GAME)

this is like… why cant they just do this, its not even hard, its literally pulling the weapons into the pool of weapons you can get from the vendor…

they already recycle old events without any new content, and as we see there wont be any new free content either
so the develoment teams must be somewher doing something right?

randy did say
this is cut content, like he legit said this in the show. these missions are like other things you see and the varkid boss, content they cut from the base game
but they dont want to surrender on ava so they package the 500 eridium raidboss and 6 missions together plus endgame stuff like dailies and weeklys ( do you have to be online for these to even work???)

i dont have to make a big statement about what this pretty much means for the game
because he said it himself

Yep, explains this package to a T. My guess is they will more then likely try to spin it in the media. (Looking at social media this DLC is not getting much positive traction. You know who is not getting much love)

Edit: it also wouldn’t surprise me if Maya’s power plays no part in this DLC what so ever, making an already less the ideal situation even worse. Just my opinion though, considering that Tannis never used Angels power post main game.

IIRC all 3 ‘vault cards’ are part of DLC6, just two remaining ‘cards’ will be revealed later. If you like to see everything upfront before you spend a whopping 15$ , that’s fine, but this tendency of always seeing things in the worst light possible is interesting (and you are not the worst offender in that regard…).

Plus, can also someone educate me - how exactly something like Vault Cards (with no expiration date AFAIK) is considered a ‘battle pass’, which somehow automatically makes it bad, but a regular story DLC with some challenge rewards and cosmetics is not?

Or the same people keep asking to make Wedding Invitation event permanent (same stuff really, couple of silly challenges with OP item reward in the end) - are you guys technically asking for a ‘battle pass’, but it is OK because ‘reasons’ ?

ME WHEN DLC 2 WAS FIRST ANNOUNCED:
Eh… I don’t know if I want this…

Gearbox gives FL4K a scooter hat.

ME:
Well played, Gearbox. Well played.

Is it really that easy?

Yes. Yes it is.

To be fair, I think it was really easy to miss in the midst of all things.

The fact, in my opinion, is simply that the way they handled the reveal was slightly mixed.

I appreciate that they put as much effort as possible in trying to communicate “Hey, we heard you about Ava, we made some rough cuts and mistakes, but we feel like this might sway your heart, give it a chance”. And you know, this is the message they should’ve brought up-front, so I applaud them for doing it.

But the cards reveal was a bit sloppier, probably because they didn’t want to release all info on the Cut at once. So they said only the baseline, and showed the rewards.

People saw something battlepassy, and were thrown off.

Agree on the vault cards sounding cool. I haven’t played any game that uses battle passes (had to Google what that is) but so far the vault cards sound like borderlands take on the challenges from Vermintide, which is cool.

As for seasonal events, I do hope they make them permanent eventually because for a brief moment in BL3’s life, during mayhem 1.0 and cartel event - the bandit slaughtershaft was the kind of mayhem that can only be described as poetry written in blood, bullets and scortch marks. It was the most fun I’ve had in this game and I can see why players would want to replay it without the time constraint.
