I don’t know how others have done in these areas but it never seems worth the cost or is it supposed to be like that with the whole “casino ripping you off” theme/joke/reference? Seems like a poor way to run down a joke or whatever the point of it is…or maybe I’m just really unlucky and there is supposed to be some point to these areas? I did find an echo recording behind one so I guess you have to go in them if you care about completionist or story stuff.
I always go into them, almost had the Cryo anointed Maggie I needed from a chest but it was on ASE instead of while sentinel is out. While making scrap runs I would always open the one at the save pole every time and I was still building money. Have to spend all that mula on something because I rarely purchase from machines or have to respawn…
Isn’t there a named enemy or two behind a couple of these doors, too?
Crew challenge in the Compactor. I thought that mob has dedicated drop for Seein Ded, but I was misinformed.
I only run the DLC on lvl 50 so I can’t see a reason the cost matters at all. The game gives you so many millions you have nothing to do with why would it matter? If you are leveling up still and going in the DLC and trying to save for SDU’s or whatever then paying for a gamble is probably a stupid move in the first place.
Well maybe you are much better than I am or just play a lot more I don’t know. I’m 50 but I still haven’t bought all the added bank SDUs that they added since launch. I think I’m up to 200 slots and the next SDU is 8 million. I die and respec just enough to keep that out of reach.
Sure, I could go to an easier difficulty or area and farm for cash but I’m not really interested in farming like that. It’s too boring. I’m just trying to go through the game and progress normally with as little farming as possible.
This is probably the difference. You get a lot of money from boss farming. Many millions. Once you max SDU’s you will constantly have multi-millions and nothing to do with it. It does take quite a bit to get all the Bank SDU’s now but you putting an anti-farming restriction on yourself in a farming game really has nothing to do with VIP costs. If you wanted to focus on unlocking your SDU’s there are many ways you could easily do it in a play-session or two but as you said you are respeccing often and not really prioritizing it so it makes sense you haven’t. So again, if you are saving for SDU’s gambling with your money is probably counter-productive in the first place and no it’s not going to be worth paying for VIP rooms they aren’t really the big profit type en-devours.
It definitely seems like they aren’t worth it and it’s more of a gamble than something worthwhile. However, they did put game content behind those doors so to complete all the content you are sort of forced to go in them at least once if you want to find everything. That’s what I’m doing but I doubt I will go back in them again.
Also, it’s not that I’m putting an “anti-farming restriction” on myself. I have done a little and I might do more. However, I would rather go through the game and complete all the content before I do any of that and completing TVHM is a higher priority to me than mindless farming.
If I haven’t burned out on the game when I’m done doing all that and I still need things I will farm some then. I just would rather not burn out on the game farming now before I even finish it completely.
Well really it’s a yes an no answer and that’s what I’m trying to point out.
If you aren’t done with the game and don’t have SDU’s then obviously no wasting money for a gamble isn’t going to be worth it. I get you have to do some of them once but the DLC also dumps more then enough cash on you going through it normally to pay for that without losing out at all.
If you are done with the game and have SDU’s, then yes it’s plenty worth because money is meaningless at this point, the cost of the VIP doors is a drop in the bucket.
Don’t suppose that Maggie is on PS4?
Sorry I’m on Xbox, if I were you would be welcome to it though…
Money is the least valuable thing in BL3, once your SDUs are all maxed.
The chance for a weapon upgrade in the VIP rooms is well worth the expense of opening the doors. But like has already been said, it’s probably better to spend your cash on SDUs until that point. After you do that, you’ll be looking for places to spend actual cash, and there really won’t be many opportunities.
At that point the VIP rooms are definitely worth entering.
Playing on mayhem 3 and 4, I found several legendaries in the VIP rooms. Can’t remember if I was on 3 or 4, but in the long series of VIP doors in Impound Deluxe, the end room has a toilet cubicle chest. I opened it and found 2 legendary guns. Still got the screenshot as I hadn’t found 2 in one place before.
It’s a gamble, but probably worth it, if you don’t mind spending the money. If you need the money, I’d say avoid them, as what’s behind usually won’t get you more than you put in (but sometimes it does).
Of course it’s worth it! Only a poor would skip a ViP room!!
I think that there is one named enemy in the section before you get to Freddy for the first time in the DLC. That said, I have gotten some high value weapons in VIP rooms, but never a legendary. I still go into every one - cant pass up an opportunity…
Yeah, it’s like $70k for a couple green and blue guns (usually)… but then, what is $70k in this game? You get that off of one group of mobs. Sometimes I go in, but usually I just don’t feel like wasting the time. Then again, I don’t go in the vaults after I kill a boss either. Faster to just reset.
Personal taste I guess.
If you’re willing to spend some eridium, you can use the eridium gun to quickly shoot out a bunch, sell them, then repeat. I did this for half an hour and subsequently bought every SDU slot
The last VIP room is Ember dancing, Zane enjoyed such.
But I like the rooms, add at least a small money sink. I also do not mind playing Black Jack to open the chest. Always hit!
Legendaries in VIP rooms are just random world-drop items. You can get the same from Graveward in one or two runs. And unlike the VIP rooms, Graveward will also give you money rather than taking it from you.
