We Need an 'Assist Counts as Kill'

And this is why it’s so hard to do it properly, favoring one or another won’t fix anything.

I got assist from the grave a few times so that is already implemented.

its not hard to track at all. who does the most damage should always get the kill point.

and on that marquis scene if i got him from shields depleted and to 10 hp and he finished it with one shot, that’s what you call kill stealing.

he should get an assist and I should get the kill

Well, I personally would favor something like: dmg ~ EP …
I don´t care as much about just getting an assist when someone “steals” my kill, but afair the killer gets the EP, right? … that sucks!
Correct me if I´m wrong.

Is it still stealing a kill if you’re running away from the guy because he’s gonna kill you first and your teammate saves you? My point is, it isn’t always as simple as “I did more dmg to him, I should get the kill”.

In the marquis scenario that you proposed he wouldn’t have been able to get the kill if it weren’t for your efforts, so yes you deserve to get a score equivalent to a kill score.

I can see that I guess, but Bluehasia is saying that the kill should belong to you and not Marquis.

So if an assist counts just as much as a kill, killing someone with 3 people means all these 3 people get a full score… Then your team can outlevel the enemy team extremely fast because you are having a total of more ‘kills’ while everyone has just assisted. This way, it’s smartest to get the 5 people on your team together and keep taking out 1 person, because everyone will get full exp anyways.

Okay, so even if and assists is worth less than a kill, and the person who did most damage is called the ‘killer’ it still doesn’t seem fair to me… Some characters will just have more assists than kills and Idon’t think they can really change that.

Just to say, the game IS actually keeping track of who did the most damage on a dying target, because there is several type of “assist” displayed when a battleborn die. Healer assist, assist, and "most damage dealt assist or something like that, “from the grave” assist, too.
So it should be really easy to change the "most damage dealt as the kill and the less damage dealt /healers as assist.
Less damage killing someone would get an “assist : killing blow” or something like that instead.
Also, as a healer, I usually got between 15 and 25 assists per match. would be a little too much if they were kills instead.

This is very true, I never really have less than 15 assists either, and I can get up to 30 assists in one match. That’s a little too much to be counted as a kill. ;p

The amount of XP given should be based on damage done + a bit extra for last hitting for the KO. It should go without saying whoever did the most damage should be getting the lion’s share of XP.

AND! On how much healing one may have done please. :3 :mushroom:

Here’s a novel idea, go for minion kills. You will get more levels faster than player kills/assists and soon you won’t have to worry about them at all.

You can’t reduce the healer/support’s share more than it is because they would end up extremely under levelled.

Also, I would like a “decoy assist’” added to the assist list, for players who took the most damage from the killed target,a s they tanked that target, allowing others to actually kill him without dying themselves beforehand.

Currently tanking someone’s damage isn’t rewarded as an assist, and it should be.

Miko can totally take minions on their own! :mushroom:

When did I say anything regarding healers XP…

No, you should not be rewarded for taking shots even if you are “tanking”

It is not as affective as some other heroes (like Oscar Mike for example), but perfectly capable of clearing minions on them own. Just need to aim for crit points on shepard bot if you don’t want to spend 30-40 seconds on that. And before you ask, Miko was my second most played hero during beta.

Sorry, but Miko NEEDS a teammate to clear a minion wave. Why? Because if Miko clears waves on their own, it’s a freaking waste of time. (I always go full healer Miko by the way, which, of course, makes them slower at killing minions.)
When my team decided to go for kills only and leave the minions alone, I was sometimes forced to take out a thumper turret on my own, stay in the enemy lane and defeat all the minions by myself. That was SUCH a pain, and I’d never get enough to gain loads of exp in game.

I do have to add to that, that I am probably not good at being the damage dealer when the character I chose is Miko.

But to get back to topic, support or tank has a harder time killing players AND minions. Playing a damage dealing character is much more rewarding, and that is why I feel that the damage that a tank takes, or the healing a support does should be counted as exp too. Idk how much exp it should be, that’s not my problem.

You don’t heal your team when you’re throwing kunai at minions. Let teammates good at clearing them like ISIC or Montana do the job on the minions waves and concentrate on what they cannot do themselves. You have heal, you have a cc (slow/stun) , you also have like everyone a quick melee for knockback, using those things should be your priority. Only relying on kunai when that’s the best thing to do at that time. Ansd shooting at minions if someone else can do it is clearly not a good use of your time.
That’s called teamwork. And that game should reward teamwork properly so that someone doing an important job will level up properly for doing it. No matter the job.

(Note: I am not sure if are agreeing with me or the opposite, by the way… It seems like we have the same opinion but I also feel like you are talking like you disagree with what I am saying… XD)

That’s what I’m saying. The supprt is not the one to go kill minions, so killing minions is still not a way to gain exp for a support. I was just saying that a support couldn’t even kill minions fast enough to get exp for focusing minions.
I should heal. So I heal. But I don’t get f*cking exp for it.

Except for when no-one else does it… :mushroom:

But seriously, that team was 100% ignoring minions and going for player kills. We lost anyways, so I was like: “What the heck, I’ll try to go for the minions then. -sigh-” And I failed misserably. ;D Our team did get the higher score though… T_T (Score system is accurate af)

I did say “if” :p.
I know that kind of game as well, had a few on meltdown where my whole team was running around for kills and completely leaving one of the lane to the other side (and obviously had some with the other side doing this instead, too). Had to try stopping the minions by myself, by rebuilding thumper turret to assist me, just to have the opposite side kills me again and again and destroy what I was building. Because they were escorting their minions, contrary to my side. Very frustrating as a support when you’re put in between supporting your team that isn’t doing what they should or try to do yourself something that you aren’t specialized into.
When you’re put in front of that kind of choice repetitively though, usually no matter what you choose, the game is already lost.
