Well, I agree that having to put out a finished product created better games right off the bat when you couldn’t patch them.
However, BL2 ended up being one of the greatest games of all time after all was said and done. I wasn’t able to play it right when it launched, so I don’t know what it was like at first. By the time I joined, almost all the DLC had been released (save for Krammerax and Commander Lilith) and the only real big patch left to the game was boosting the drop rates a little bit. Even then, I had already sunk over 1,500 hours in to the game, if that says anything about my enjoyment of it.
When I was a kid, there was a kid down the street that had subscriptions too Nintendo power and all the gaming magazines and they knew all the cheats and secrets.
Just a different way back then to spreading them but the same thing happened
I think it has helped and hurt gaming. The good part is the ability to make bug fixes and add content. Back in the day if you bought a game that had bug you had to wait for a second edition disc to come. Then you had to pay full price again. I had to do that with tomb raider2 and another one i cant remember.
Now the problem these days is people want short, easy give me everything now. Its going to ruin gaming for people like me. I like shooters but not just shoot and kill. Games like mass effect and fallout and of course bls. Sadly theres not many on console. Even resident evil turned into an on rails finish quick and heres some pvp.
