In feel I still think ASE 100% weapon-damage is better on weapons.
But then, I combine it with two ASE 50%-elemental damages on my shield + grenade.
I feel the 100% weapon-damage also helps in boosting crit damage even more, and then finally the 50% bonus from my shield and grenade gets added as elemental damage.
I don’t claim to know the maths very well, but my maggie and wedding-invitation with ASE 100%-weapon have been serving me fine.
I’ve sort of settled on using shock + cryo on my two elemental buffs. Shock to get through shields, and cryo because it is actually very good against armor, and still just as good as normal damage against flesh. Seems like the best allrounder.
Sometimes I switched cryo to fire when playing lots of bandits, but now I don’t really bother, cryo works just as good.
Sometimes - to experiment - I removed my bonus-shock and added corrosive (so I’m cryo + corrosive) just for Wotan. My brainstormer deals enough shock damage to control the shields and fights, and all the anti-armor bonus damage helps my maggie to feel like a cutsman :).
Tried radiation, but it doesn’t seem to do much (except a little DoT and explosive-kills, which add nothing). It’s not good against shields, not good against armor and only just as good as normal bullets against flesh, so I’m sort of missing the point of it. Or does it have a slagg-like effect that boosts other damages?
For Recursion, Carrier, or anything where extra projectiles are necessary, I go with ASE elemental bonuses, because they cause more projectiles to spawn.
For everything else it’s ASE 100% weapon damage. Consecutive hits is also very nice because I use Driver, and I try to have at least 1 weapon on me with this anoint because it’s good to have something not tied to ASE for when you need it.
A handful of weapons I’d use ASE 125% splash damage but not many.
Of course currently I don’t have all the best anoints on my gear due to the recent level cap increase. I’m aiming for ASE 100% weapon damage on my Krakatoa and Cutsman, and consecutive hits on my Hellshock. I already have an Abundant Recursion in a few elemental flavors, though I would like to get a new ASE 75% rad Recursion (even though this anoint is bugged, it’s easier to use rad when mixing and matching shield/nades).
If they ever increase the level cap to 70 or higher, I will swap to Phasecast anoints instead, because it’s a lot more damage and Phasecast is much more powerful as an action skill. Thing is you need 5 points in Restless, and both a class mod and artifact with action skill cool down rate bonuses to be able to spam Phasecast like you can Phasegrasp. At level 57 these bonuses are 25%, so at level 70 I imagine it would be around 35%, maybe as high as 40%.
Lately I tend to use shock + Radiation ASE to ignore shield, this way I only need a good fire weapon and a good cryo/corosive one
Already reduce the useless weapon switches, which help.

I usually use radiation + cryo on shield + grenade because that does equal damage to all enemy types so I don’t have to bother. I only switch e.g. to corrosive + cryo against armour bosses or rad + fire against flesh bosses. Well, in animal-heavy stages like on Eden 6 I sometimes use fire too, or corrosive in Takedown or bot-heavy stages in Handsome Jackpot.
I’m a Phasecast player, so on the gun I obviously want +250% gun damage. +100% gun damage as the best alternative or when playing Ties That Bind (my secondary choice).
(Amara) 250% weapon damage for a short time after Phasecast is used
(FL4K) 115% bonus radiation damage while Gamma Burst is active
(Moze) 160% bonus splash damage after exiting Iron Bear
(Moze) 125% bonus incendiary damage after exiting Iron Bear (on weapons which can’t get the splash damage anointment)
(Zane) 100% bonus cryo damage while SNTL is active
Grenades
(FL4K, Moze, Zane) 25% bonus damage for 6 seconds after grenade thrown
Shields
(Amara) 30% of damage taken reflected for a short time after ASE
(FL4K) 8% bonus movement speed after issuing an Attack Command
(Moze) 75% bonus health and shields for a short time after ASE
(Zane) 15% bonus movement speed while SNTL is active
Amara is the only one of my characters who uses 50% bonus elemental damage after ASE, and it’s basically whichever element I got on her It’s Piss grenade. I think the one I have at level 53 was Incendiary. I haven’t bothered to go out to get a level 57 one yet since I only care about the grenade’s primary effect (20% extra damage taken on enemies + removing DoTs on self).
