Bravo to you! I know I could never in a decade do R.R. with melee and grenades!

Day 4 of Eridian weapons only Lilith. Goal was levelling up the main story and getting a gun.

I skipped all the side missions except Lost Cave for the artifact and the Claptrap rescue missions. I’m a hoarder and need all the backpack space I can get. Nine Toes, Bone Head and Roid Rage Psycho were all easy. It’s funny how fast the game can get on level. 40 minutes of play time and Sledge is already level 19. I forgot to buy grenades before the Sledge fight and had to leave the arena. And look who followed me outside. Made killing him with grenades really easy.

One thing I noticed though: Grenades feel a bit different in the base game. Although I have a better shield than in the DLCs, the same level 16 rubberized grenades are hurting me now more and I have to keep a larger distance from my enemies. Don’t really know, it’s just a feeling. The cars are faster in Knoxx DLC than in the base game, so maybe grenades are a bit different too?

I thought Eridian weapons would start dropping after Sledge but nope: still a lot of half empty chests at the gift shop. So it was time to leave Fyrestone and go to my favorite map in the game: Dahl Headlands. Rescuing Lucky wasn’t too hard. For those Badass Bruisers melee was a lot easier than grenades. They start punching you but at least they stop shooting rockets. Checked the vendors at Lucky’s out of habit and yeah: double legendary. Why can’t I be gunslinger Mordecai?

After the activation of the fast travel network I went back to the gift shop and here they are: my first guns. Finally.

I will farm more but first I looked at some statistics for this run so far. 693 kills, 498 of them melee. After two completed DLCs and right before Mad Mel this seems pretty low.

Zero shots fired.

And then, after just one shot, there she is: Eridian allegiance Lilith.

This is just my second ever Lilith playthrough (usually Mordecai) and I have no idea yet which of her skills/class mods are going to work for this run. Will do some reading. It still is a long way to Craw and that Eridian Warrior class mod.

The phasewalk skills that provide healing and can damage enemies (especially strip shields) simply by standing near them seem like a good idea. I don’t remember off the top of my head if she has skills that boost splash damage generally?

Nope.

But if you’re melee building phase walk is the perfect way to get behind a troublesome enemy and emerge with a enhanced melee strike and beat them from the back.

This might be worth a look:

Thanks for the suggestions. I just read the forum guides for Lilith and think I will go right tree first. I noticed some of the Eridian weapons have only three shots before they need to reload. So I guess there will still be a lot of melee in this run. And after that probably boosting shock damage as this will be my only elemental damage for a while.

IIRC the Eridian weapon proficiency perks should also help with the recharge time. Also, they can be fired again before being fully recharged, as long as there’s enough charge for at least one shot.

I would also strongly suggest doing the left tree also. My opinion of a melee Lilith build would be that getting Girl Power, which recovers shields on a kill, is going to be pretty important.
I personally run the left tree first for shield and health buffs. Of course, I do not use phase walk as an offensive weapon, you getting Hit & Run before Girl Power may make more sense.

Oh, one other thing I thought about as I’m getting ready to do PT2 R.R. with my latest siren;
How did you deal with the three turrets near Knoxx? I don’t think you ran by them since they will definitely kill you, and with 3 of 'em you can’t really dodge. So how? Toss grenades at them?

I was pretty underleveled at that point and running was my only option. And to my surprise it worked. I ignored all the enemies and made it to the control panel, jumped immediately down and ran to the big door. And at that point you’re already past the turrets. I then went straight to the door where you can exit after the fight, jumped and turned the mission in. Then safe quit. I think I didn’t even use phase walk. If you keep moving the turrets are too slow, maybe? As Mordecai I’m usually sniping the turrets but then they are hitting me much more.

Ah ha. I’ve never tried running past 'em, looked too fraught with peril.
And since I always 1Life I don’t take those risks, so I’ll never do it myself.

Never did a 1life. I always die due to some stupid mistakes. But it’s on my list of future playthroughs. Who’s the hardest boss for you when playing 1Life? I guess for me it would be MINAC. This guy always kills me at least once.

Edit: And for the base game I would guess Mad Mel? I’m always cheesing it by grenade jumping up the ramp.

I’m guessing you would want to get yourself an eridian mod later in the game in Knoxx DLC.
I know I killed Craw with eridian weapons, it can be done, but to farm for a mod it’s another matter. Long battles ahead for you.
Good luck!

Hey thanks. Yes, that Eridian Warrior class mod is the reason I’m playing Lilith. Still a long way to go. And I’m really hoping for a legendary Eridian. I’ve had my share of pearls and hybrids in this game but have never seen a legendary Eridian. Would be great to find one in this run.

Well any enemy in Knoxx’s DLS can drop a legendary eridian weapon, it’s rare but a fact.
I have one cannon and a few blue fireballs dropped, most of them I got from the armory .

Day 5 of Eridian weapons only Lilith. This time actually with guns. Didn’t have too much time so I just enjoyed my time at the Dahl Headlands.

But before I did a few farming runs at the gift shop to get at least two guns of each type. I guess everyone has this experience during challenge runs when you find all that good stuff you can’t use? At one run i found a Pestilent Defiler, Liquid Penetrator, Corrosive Invader, Shock Guardian and a Explosive Crux. And the med vendor had two mercenary coms with ammo regen. One friggin run. On my last repeater only Mordecai I had to farm hours for a gunslinger com with ammo regen. I love this game.

Ok, back to the Eridian weapons. Usually I sort my inventory by weapon type, but the Eridians, well, they are all Eridians and bit hard to tell apart (11010 vs 10110). I guess the better ones are still on top? Hopefully I will get used to it. My first impressions of the guns:

Eridian Cannon: No, just no. I mean, has anyone ever been killed by Master McCloud? Maybe I will try again after getting High Velocity.

Eridian Blaster: Fun gun. Has the highest ā€œmagā€ size of the Eridian weapons, at least 30 shots. I killed all the Scythids by foot because it was so enjoyable. Brought back memories of playing Jedi Knight 2 after school almost twenty years ago, lol.

Eridian Lightning: Fastest ā€œbulletā€ speed in the game and hits hard. You can snipe far away racers and actually hit them. Unfortunately only 3 shots and I wish they would have a better scope.

Eridian Thunder Storm: One shots everything. Badass Psycho? One shot. Guardian? One Shot. And it has knockback. Awesome weapon but only 2 shots before reloading.

I had forgotten that you lose speed when holding Eridian weapons. As Lilith it doesn’t matter as much but still annoying. This resulted in one of my longer recent Skagzilla fights. You are too slow to dodge the attacks and get tossed around quite a bit while waiting for your guns to recharge.

The cannon is the eridian launcher. I’ve used it quite a bit, and it’s actually ok in the right circumstances - basically, any time you can get a drop on your enemies, or you know they’re going to come straight at you. Useful for big and slow targets, although I’ve also gone skag hunting with it. Given that you can rarely keep the distance advantage for long, though, I usually end up switching back to the lightning or something similar.

Yeah, it’s all I do now. After more than 10,000 hours in BL2 and about the same in 1 (didn’t keep track) plus a few thousand in 3 (before I got bored with it) it’s the only way I’ll play to keep myself challenged.

It’s a slightly different play style, your strategy in some areas changes. You can’t be completely passive, the BL series does not reward overly cautious play, but you do stop diving into mobs guns blazing.

And yeah, I’ve had runs ended many times for stupid mistakes I’ve made. Falling off the edge of the map being the most irritating. And freakin’ barrels.

BL1 is easier to 1Life than BL2, fewer environmental issues to kill you. And BL2 UVHM is really tough, I’ve still not completed that, max level is 57. BL3 is laughably easy.

As for hardest bosses in that mode? For me, Steele is the touchstone, if I can get past her twice I know I’ll be successful. Sledge is the second most-failed boss. In both cases you’re in a small arena with few (or no) minions to revive from. And arenas without good cover, though the second Steele arena is easier than the first because there are some areas to escape damage for a bit.
Oh, and the 3 Eridians in the cave in the Dahl Highlands have ended runs more than once, again, somewhat close arena with nowhere to hide makes them a challenge. I’ll sometimes omit them from a run.
MINAC is pretty stress-free for me, though incredibly tedious. There is a spot on the map where you cannot be hit by its weapons and the kamikaze claptraps cannot get you, you just fire when its eye opens, then duck for cover while it drives around. Only reason I get killed in that fight is when it’s been ten minutes with a non-scoped SMG and I get impatient and stay out of cover too long, a clappy usually sneaks up on me and blows me up. My own fault. I’ll tell you where the hiding spot is if you want that somewhat spoiler.
But if I defeat those two without dying the rest of the run is pretty straightforward.

Edit: Oh, and I don’t do the Knox DLC 1Lifing. Not because of the fights per sĆØ, but because of the vehicle fighting. BL1’s vehicles are soooo fragile and you inherit damage from them when the car blows up (different from BL2) and the Knox cars usually blow me up. I also kill Mad Mel’s runner patrols on foot instead of from inside a car for the same reason.

Just finished PT2 Sledge, a Lightning Savior for his sheild and a x2 purple Torgue Stinger killed him pretty quickly. Now off the the Highlands to get to at least lvl 41 so I can start the R.R.

Thank you for this detailed reply. I will try this one day.

If you have done Robolution DLC before Dahl Headlands I would now recommend the Eridian Thunder Storm for the guardians there. It wrecks them in one or two shots. Never killed them so easy in Pt1.

Edit: You’re playing as Lilith?

Always. Well, I did 1Life BL1 with Mordy to prove to myself I could, but in 1 & 2 I’m a Siren 99.56% of the time. I just like their ability to escape massive aggro quickly.
And thanks for the tip on the T-Storm, I rarely use Eridian weapons but I’ll try that.
