What did you do in BL2 during your most recent session?

If you take the catapult technical you can boost up and over the cliff and drive around to the church on the topside of the mountain.

Not necessarily faster than getting out and going along the rock path but there’s no risk of being shot by the buzzards and it looks kinda cool.

How do you do this? The only way I know would be to reset UVHM after each Sandhawk (or Sandhawk/Pimpernel pair, to save time) and run through the prerequisite quests all over again. But that doesn’t sound like what you’re doing.

I agree that I’d like a Sandhawk (and Pimpernel) in each element, but I’ve always figured that would take getting my fourth character to 72 to achieve. (Current top 4 character levels: 64, 53, 29, 19, so that will not be soon…)

Kept running my new Gaige. She’s level 11 now and in Sanctuary.

MidgeMong was nice and dropped a KerBlaster! With that added to my secret stash I’ve got one hell of a arsenal!

Read-only on PC is the fastest way to do it. Simply make all your saves read-only (right-click, properties) but leave your profile save as it is. Then just keep turning in the quest and when you see a variant you want to keep, drop it in the stash. The stash is saved with the profile and doesn’t get erased. You have to select character every time in the main menu (that makes it read/load the save file again).
At some point I questioned myself if this was like duping, but quest rewards being how they are it never felt that way.

Quick note, if by chance you are completing a challenge at mission turn-in, your badass ranks will accumulate. I made that mistake in TPS :frowning:

Bandit Mechromancer rolled the Forge and grabbed the second tier of the Twelve O’ Clock High mission. Dusting buzzards with the Chopper is insanely fun, but you only get to drop two or three before you’re scrounging around for more ammo, so I left the rest to the Roaster and Gub.

Maya 2.0 again had my undivided attention. Boring day, though.

Farmed Pete a good bit, but didn’t get anything special out of it other than a bunch of Seraph crystals. Ran the TTAoDK DLC end-to-end. The Handsome Sorcerer hoarked up another NE Conference Call (that’s 2 in 3 kills with this toon; the other was a legendary head). SCORE! Also got the three spell grenades updated, though none was the upper-end version. Back to the Badass Crater of Badassitude, to bully BA Rex around. Coughed up some Slow Hands for me, but none were shock (only one I’m interested in ATM) and none had the Practicable prefix (also only one I’m interested in).

So, I decided to get off my rump and start swinging at Hyperius. Now, this is tricky. I don’t have a good on-level Banshee COM. I have a level 60-something one that’s +6 Fleet and +5 Backdraft (I’d take either for the second skill buff, as it’s just there for running Fleet; the lower level means less of a hit to health). Now, the relatively small health loss for the Banshee COM I have? Fine for my usual purposes, but CRAP for this. I NEED the bigger health hit to molest that health gate. Further, I need it to be +6 to Immolate.

I went ahead and respecced for the fight, once I got to the New-U by his gate. Dropped the 5/5 in each Chain Reaction and Kinetic Reflection, as those are both useless in the Hyperius fight. Added 5/5 Immolate and Ward, because both are quite useful. Also switched the Sweet Release points over to Mind’s Eye; SR is ALSO useless in the Hyperius fight (sad how many of Maya’s skills can’t be used in a lot of boss fights, for lack of properly phaselockable targets), and Mind’s Eye can be helpful for the critical damage buff.

Also lacking an ideal launcher. Fire Norfleet is the launcher of choice here, but I’ve only ever seen ONE and it’s an OP8 example in the hands of my OTHER Maya. Next choice is fire Topneaa, and despite many runs at Marcus’s train I have yet to come across a single one with this toon. So I’m on choice number three, a Badaboom. Plain, straight-up explosive one at that. THANKFULLY, it’s a FFYL thing and I have points in Immolate, but still…

I used to love to use a corrosive Pimpernel on the minions there, but my current choice is only slag. NOT ideal. The Dahl corrosive railer I’ve got WOULD be a good choice, but for two things. 1.) It consumes ammo QUICKLY in a fight with no real hope of resupply. 2.) I want to leave a fourth minion untouched until the other three are down (will explain shortly), and the overpenetrate-and-ricochet mechanic on railers is not conducive to that tactic. I could almost cry at the thought of how many nice blue Night Terrors I’ve sold away, when that’d be a particularly SWEET rifle at the moment. Corrosive Sandhawk is in the picture, though, so there’s that.

Lacking a Chain Lightning is also a bit of a bummer, though it’s not HUGE. At this level (OP2), I can still get away with a straight-up Lightning Bolt. IF I’ve got phaselock cooled down, I can drop that hammer between novas with Grog Nozzle in-hand, and it works for now.

So, the adjusted-for-poor-gear loadout works a bit like this. Bee, Corrosive BotA, Lightning Bolt, Legendary Siren (would swap to Cat if using Sandhawk as primary damage-dealer against minions, but I prefer the faster PL cooldown otherwise). Badaboom, slag Pimpernel, Grog Nozzle, fire Sandhawk.

Work over three minions with slag Pimp until they’re down, and there’s one more-or-less whole still standing. THEN, start working on the fourth. FIRST time that fourth minion shields-up, swap the BotA to FIRE and lay into the old boy with fire Sandy; Scorn to help control the incoming rocket fire. Repeat until Hyperius gets into his froggy phase. For NOW, I’ll keep the build the same and just tape-down the trigger on that fire Sandy, swapping back to Grog Nozzle if/when he knocks my health down below gate. In the future, I anticipate (as I used to do) using a better Banshee COM (+5 Fleet, +6 Immolate) to abuse health gate here and boost my chances when in FFYL.

SO, tried it out in lower OPs. At OP0 (l72), it was a slaughter. Turned-in the mission to Shade, came back at OP1. Still pretty well managed at OP1 (mind you, this is with mostly OP2 gear). Never went into FFYL, and had him in froggy phase the second time the last minion’s shield came up. Seems he’s easier to dodge than I remember. So, that’s where I hung it up for the night. Need to do some OP2 runs now, and build that confidence against him.

Oh yeah, his OP0 self dropped a Pyrophobia, and OP1 dropped a Tattler (90k+ per projectile at OP2, so it’s at least temporarily a keeper). Wanting to get myself a nice Evolution on-level from him. That’s tomorrow’s task.

So yeah, next step is to beat Hyperius on-level with my relatively poorly-equipped Maya 2.0, Acquire a NICE example of Evolution and maybe a better Tattler, and then move on to the Hammerlock DLC before heading back to Liar’s Berg for Claptrap. And maybe farm the Bar Room Blitz for Torgue Tokens, so I can buy a better DPUH.

P.S.- I had been doing Bar Room Blitz with Antagonist all this time. Tonight, I switched up and used the Rough Rider and Breakneck Banshee (lower level, again, so as to incur a lesser penalty to health). SO MUCH MORE FUN! Now that I have a fire Kitten, I feel f’ing INVINCIBLE in there! Kinetic Reflection and Life Tap and Inertia, but most especially KR, in a mob full of trash-tier enemies, just make that such an easy task now. I wonder, though: Do the Burners in there also drop Cobra, or must it be only those outside in the Beatdown?

General conclusion after I made a thread about this - yes they can, but there are far fewer burners in the bar than outside, so if you want a Cobra it’s not the best place to look.

Thanks, that’s a useful technique!

Tonight Maya had a spectacularly successful run through the Dust: level 65 Hammer Buster (so half a level until I can use it), level 64 fire Lyuda with Dahl stock, and oh yeah, there was a tubby too. Level 62 Godfinger (my first pearl) and the Legendary Binder COM I wanted for her! The loot thread has pics.

Ironically, now I don’t quite know what to do with her. :stuck_out_tongue: Gear is in great shape so no need for more loot runs. So do I go to Opportunity to progress the story, or go progress the Tiny Tina storyline, or start Scarlett’s DLC (taking care not to get as far as the Sandhawk and Pimpernel quests), or blow up Pete’s bar for tokens, or work on assorted side-quests (most of the Hodunk-Zaford thing is available). Options - and thus a bit of analysis paralysis…

Are there any notably good places to play with a Godfinger? It seems like a neat gun, but hard to find places where the special abilities really come into play. It would probably work for Chain Reaction shenanigans vs. BNK3R, but even if I beelined to it she’d be 66, and a level 62 gun seems a bit dubious by then.

Other notes - while I like the Life Tap skill, the sound effect annoys me to the point where I’m semi-seriously thinking of a respec to take Mind’s Eye instead. :frowning: And on the plus side, Claptrap’s Birthday Bash is now on my list of quests to never, ever pick up - as long as it’s waiting to start a party, it’s not rolling around Sanctuary demonstrating dubstep songs.

While I pondered Maya’s options, I took Gaige through A Train to Catch. She was as ludicrously powerful as ever, one-shotting raging goliaths with her blue Hulk, and four-shotting Wilhelm with the Flakker. I do enjoy anarchy. (and beautiful guns handed down from four previous characters, of course). Now level 15, hasn’t turned in ATtC since I prefer to do the Tundra Express side-quests first.

So, here’s the problem. You find burners AND Momma’s Bikers out in the Beatdown. If I understand correctly, Bikers on the Beatdown won’t drop it; has to be a named BURNER.

Same inside the bar, sure. But for as few as there are, they’re easy to spawn in endless supply every few minutes via the BRB mission, without having to save/quit and continue.

Not trying to farm Cobra in there, but just wondering since I’m in there a lot farming tokens.

Here’s the thread I made about it. You don’t get burners every round in the bar so the odds are very small. As discussed in the thread @LunaticOne got one to drop in the Bar but from my impression he spends a lot of time there (he’ll have to confirm how much himself)

I blend it into my DPUH and Bonus Package runs.

Start in Moxxi’s bar, check Torgue machine.

Fast Travel to Beat Down, check Torgue Machine. Fight to PP’s bar.

Check Torgue Machine. Do BRB round.

Run back to Beatdown entrance and FT back to Moxxi’s.

Save, reload repeat.

I get burners every round, or at leadt it seems so. Rats, Bikers, Torgue engineers, Burners (the big slow ones with shotguns), and eventually UBA Enforcers.

It has become basically habit, that I run the BRB 3x, kill Pete, quit/continue.

As long as I’m gonna be in there, just wanted to know if it MIGHT drop, so I don’t ignore it if it does drop.

It is a possibility, though a faint one. Checking is definitely worth it though. I’ve never found much purple stuff drops at all (though it does build up a bit when you run it many times) so the rarity should help it stand out a bit.

I quite like running the Beatdown anyway - 2 red chests, lots of badasses and varied combat.

Aside from the bikes, I like it. Not that they’re difficult, just annoying.

Magnys Lighthouse is a perfect sniper spot. Given the range needed ( which is extended by Accelerate! ) there may not be many other practical places.

@TheRAbbi
when I’m PL’ing people (which is most nights), I’ll spend roughly 3 hours a night running the tier 3 Bar Brawl and average about 100 runs in that time, I have picked 1 cobra off the floor, but since I’m PL’ing people I don’t stop and ck what’s dropped after every round, I may ck every 15 to 20 rounds just to clear the floor.
I get a bunch of Snipers to drop of all colors, whites, greens, blues, Less of these will also drop , purple, e-tech and gold, even found one pearl storm.
I have seen “Burners” in there but as hattieinduni says they don’t seem to show up every round (again I don’t pay to much attention as I run around )

whites, greens and blues are the bulk of the drops, the others I mention above are naturally rarer in their drop rate.

Yeah, I’m seeing mostly white and green in there. 2-3 Blues so far with this character, nothing higher.

I decided to start off the BL2 day with some relaxing Thousand cuts llm farming as sonic siren.
After quite a few lootless llms I got my first lvl 72 pearl and a lovely one at that : Practicable Butcher non-ele (bandit grip jakobs stock). That went to my krieg. While I didn’t get too many drops from llm themselves the runs did provide a few things I wanted. Namely, a shotgun for Krieg (the Butcher) and another Topnea for RL Axton (shock). That leaves him with just a corrosive RL missing. Also got 2 leg Siren coms, 1 from the chest next to Brick and 1 from an llm. Fell off a lot less this time :stuck_out_tongue:

Then my luck took a turn for the worse as I spent a solid hour farming normal mode Kingmong to acquire a low level Badaboom to try out rocket jumping. That ate up most of time for the day tbh.
Reminding myself that this is what farming is like I started on my Fastball collection. The mission took no time to conplete and Boll dropped one quite quickly and in the element I wanted (shock).

The purpose of the shock Fastball was to use it with Krieg for some bloodsplosion shenanigans on Pyro Pete. The biggest flaw in the plan being the fact that I haven’t finished that dlc storyline with him yet. The rest of the little time left had me progressing MR TORGUE’S CAMPAIGN OF CARNAGE AND I MANAGED TO GET UP TO THE RACE QUEST. NIPPLE SALADS

My exams end Thursday and there shall be much binge playing I intend to indulge in

Pretty much my experience as well. I pick up all the purple beams in the bar every so often and often times even after getting enough tokens for a legendary I see 0 purple gear drops.

I finally got a character to OP8 (Sal) today (from 72 to OP8 in a three day period when I had time for it), so now I can check that off my list. No real super-noteworthy loot drops, mostly just various Hellfires and Infinities from all the Scorches and Mercies through all the runs. A fire Emperor dropped during one of the assassins battles. OMGWTH was stingy throughout. And a rubberized Quasar from one of the end reward chests… bleh. :frowning:

Now I just need to get my OP6 Maya up there… she’s feeling “incomplete”.
